The M50Vm from Asus revolutionizes the way you get your entertainment on the go. Plus, it has features to improve your privacy and productivity. The 15.4" screen has an AI Light feature which adjusts panel brightness depending on the level of ambient lighting. They've also included their Splendid video technology with 5 modes and 3 skin tone settings to optimize the image depending on what you are viewing.

The webcam also works with face recognition software so you can log on with just a look. Or, use the fingerprint reader by the touchpad for additional security. It also doubles as an audio visual control panel at the flick of a switch. The keyboard has a numeric keypad, something usually found only in larger notebooks.

All of this functionality is great, but useless in isolation. That's why there's a plethora of wired and wireless connection options. Circling the shell are 4xUSB, 1xFireWire, 1xRJ-11, 1xGigabit Ethernet, 1xHDMI and more. Wireless connectivity includes 802.11a/g/n and Bluetooth V2.1. There's even a WiMAX transceiver so you can take advantage of the latest technologies.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat all around laptop!

Pros: This is an excellent laptop. Easily has enough power to run games, video editing software, and easily multitask. The multiple USB ports are great but you can always buy a HUB for 10 bucks if you'd like more. The screen is very nice as well.
If you are looking for a high end laptop at a low end price, this is the one you want!

Cons: Speakers are not great, but what do you expect from a laptop? The battery life is not that good either but this is not a problem for me. The built in camera has low quality.

Other Thoughts: -Plenty of power
-Plenty of storage space
-High end laptop at low end price.
-Excellent laptop for anybody from a multitasking web surfer to a video editor to a hardcore gamer.

3 out of 5 eggsI USED to love this laptop...

Pros: This laptop is awesome. HD Graphics, 1gb of video memory, 4gb of RAM, 2.5 dual core, but I got the m50sa, which comes with a 500gb HD, and a DVD Supermulti with Blue Ray. Incredibly fast.

Cons: Where do I start? First off, USB drivers are HORRIBLY built. Perhaps it's just my version, but I get constant USB_BUGCODE_DRVIER BSODs. Even after several formats, reinstallations, different OS's, chkdsk /f, sfc /scannow, defrags, virus scans, and etc. I still have to restart to plug in a new USB device, or I simply get a BSOD. Second; Overheating? This think kicks out so much heat, that I bought a 70 dollar cooler (Rosewill) and it STILL overheats and crashes. I end all tasks, and even run World of Warcraft, iTunes, and AIM with explorer.exe ended, and I still over heat within 30 minutes of a reboot. Third: System hangs. Ever since I got this, and even after everything I did to solve the USB issue, System will suddenly hang and all applications will eventually freeze up. Task manager does not start, can not initiate cmd from run or taskmgr.exe from run, or a black screen locks up, and you're forced to perform a hard reset.

Other Thoughts: Basically, I'm incredibly disatisfied with this product. It has so much potential, and really does run great when it runs. Whether or not it pertains to a bad HD, or a poorly built laptop, is beyond me, but I've managed to work around it. Using icepacks to keep the laptop cooler nice and cold, and elevating the laptop (since the batter pack did not come with one, for what ever stupid reason). I love Asus, but in this instance they disappointed me, and in the future, I may just buy something I know is going to work, instead of taking the risk to purchase something I would hope is good. Kudos to Newegg for the quick shipping I received when I got it.

5 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal!

Pros: This laptop has it all! I've owned this since Christmas, and I've yet to have any problems. It's sleek, fast, and reliable. Fallout 3 runs flawlessly on med-high settings. Everything about this laptop is great. And for the price.. it cannot be beat. Period.

Cons: The battery life is nothing to write home about (around 2 1/2 hours), but then again, this laptop isn't necessarily built to focus on battery efficiency. Other than that, no cons at all!

5 out of 5 eggsStill works great.

Pros: Nice hardware for the price. I've had it for about 6 months. Its still a great machine compaired to what's out now. I compaired it to other PCs and laptops from IBUYPOWER before setteling. I refuse to touch anything with a Cyberpower logo. I have issues with that company.
Lots of nice features. I espically like the finger print scanner. It makes logging in and on to other sights fast, secure, and easy.
The express slot works great for a CAC readers for you military types. No more extra USB readers to drag around.
The built in webcam will be a nice feature when it comes time to contact home.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I wonder how it will hold up to the conditions of the desert? My HP didn't last very long the last time. Guess I'll find out.

4 out of 5 eggsRare find

Pros: This is a rare find. Almost perfect. I would recommend this computer to anyone. It has great features, and is pretty powerful. Large hard drive, plenty of memory. If you are looking for a good deal for an above average laptop, this is the one to get.

Cons: The only complaint I have is that the media center built into the finger mouse pad is a little bit of a pain. If you tap the mouse pad the media center comes up and you have to cancel it on a regular bases. Don't let that be a factor for not getting this laptop though. It's still a super buy.

Other Thoughts: Too bad it didn't come with Vista Ultimate. $159.00 to upgrade. The ASUS security software is a little bit of a pain, it keeps asking to if you want to save passwords.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: Fast processor. Great video card. Have been able to play games that I couldn't before because of a low grade video card. Price is outstanding.

Cons: Media Player touch pad gets activated easilly unless you disable it. speaker quality not the best

Other Thoughts: This is still a great buy. I have not been able to find an equivalent to this for less than $1500. So far, so good.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Laptop

Pros: Very Sturdy, Built-in webcam & mic, gaming-grade graphics, FULL NUMPAD, fingerprint login, touchpad doubles as media controls (stop, pause, play, back, next, mute, etc. for your favorite audio/video player). I travel every week for work. This thing has gone through airports and airplanes twice a week almost every week for the past 5 months and shows no sign of fatigue. The 9600M GS plays nearly all of the latest games that I throw at it. It is a really amazing laptop.

Cons: Does not play GTA IV very well, even on lowest settings... but then again... what laptop does? You need a very powerful desktop for that game.
No PCMCIA slot. Would be nice, but not a must-have anymore.

Other Thoughts: This is a gaming laptop without the 'Gaming Laptop' price. Very slick looking and will turn heads.

5 out of 5 eggsWow!

Pros: Great Keyboard layout, comes with bag and mouse, destroys all my games with 0 fps lag, even on high settings, sleek design

Cons: screen is kind of over glossy so glare can be an issue at times, you could cook toast literally on exhaust for heat of this thing, might want to consider some type of cooling, windows vista 32 bit

Other Thoughts: Just a really awesome laptop, this thing is AWESOME for the price. The performance almost on par with my q6600 oced to 3.7ghz 4 gig ddr2 8800gtx x2sli desktop, seriously don't even think about it this is a no brainer!
