Small and Amazing
- Pros: Nvidia's 9300m GS w/ 256mb Ram
2 gb Ram Easy to upgrade Ram and Hard Drive Small and light HDMI Blue tooth and 3 USB's
- Cons: The only issue is the CPU but hey its a netbook so I guess for now its ok!
Vista but getting W7 ASAP Needs some tweaking to get it work right!
- Other Thoughts: OK here is the deal, had an Acer one but couldnt do much but use the internet and chat on yahoo.
Got this for 600 and now, Itunes, VLC, HI Def vids play well. Even games like COD4 and Age Of Empires 3 play pretty good. The trick is the Video card. Using Badaboom I can convert videos pretty cuz it uses the Gpu not the cpu. On this netbook, there is an Use at your own risk, overclocker which I set mine to 1.9 ghz for when I am in need of some power but mostly using the GPU to handle most of the work, is awesome. Vista is stupid and everyone knows it, so I wont go there, just set it to Vista Basic instead of Aero and it will be fine with all your visual needs. Well my friends, I can not say much more but look if you need a small notebook and like to watch Videos, play some games or even take your entire Itunes library with you, this is perfect.
Smokes with an SSD
- Pros: - Dedicated Graphics Card
- 2GB of RAM - HDMI Port - Nice Screen!
- Cons: - Vista & Bloatware Preinstalled
- Limited Screen Resolution (1024x600) - Hard Drive (5400 rpm) - Poor Speaker Sound Quality
- Other Thoughts: To anyone who buys one of these, I would suggest doing two things:
1) Get a new hard drive (7200 rpm, or a SSD) 2) Install Windows XP
I swapped out my hard drive for a SSD and installed an old copy of Windows XP I had kicking around. What a HUGE difference! The boot time dropped to seconds, and the battery life improved drastically. I was impressed with this thing when I first bought it, but these two changes turned this thing into a dream machine!
Great Netbook
- Pros: After a years use no failures on any part of the system, runs every program and game I throw at it, basically every feature on a netbook users wishlist, plus the cool looks you get from people who don't know Asus.
- Cons: battery life has declined a bit, but after almost a years daily use its to be expected. I think I may have a peice of dirt under my keyboard as my "a" button requires more force to push down then the rest.
- Other Thoughts: I bought the N10 in the fall of last year and haven't looked back. I installed XP on it using a USB drive with no issues and ditched all the expressgate features. Despite the back and forth on the reviews with processing power I find the atom amazing. I have run many of the latest titles on this system and it has amazed me time and time again. Its not always speed deamon but it works as its design intended it.
I like it so much I plan on buying another one for my wife.
The only things I can think of for a wish list for the next model would be a spare internal mini pci-e slot, a slightly bigger screen (less bezel) to go 1024x768 native
