The N50 series notebook from Asus revolutionizes the way you get your entertainment on the go. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of RAM provide an optimized, multithreaded architecture for improved multimedia and multitasking performance, perfect for those that have lots to do and little time to do it.
The 15.4" widescreen with LED backlight display movies and pictures with stunning clarity, true-to-life color, and razor-sharp detail. You may never run out of room to store your documents, pictures, and audio and video files with the 320GB hard drive. Use the DVD Super Multi drive to create your own portable media and backup files.
The webcam also works with face recognition software so you can log on with just a look, or for additional security use the fingerprint reader by the touchpad. All of this functionality is great, but useless in isolation. So, there's a plethora of wired and wireless connection options. Circling the shell are 3xUSB, 1xFireWire, 1x eSATA, 1xGigabit Ethernet, 1xHDMI and more. Wireless connectivity includes 802.11b/g/n.

Nice Laptop
- Pros: This is a great low priced laptop. The 1GB of video is great for the money. I dont play a lot of games but HL2 and Crossfire run really well. Its built well. The keyboard and mouse take a little to get used to because it has a full keyboard with number pad. I find that sometimes the trackpad gets in the way. The ExpressOS would be neat form someone that doesnt need a full OS to do what they need and it really does boot in 8 seconds. Once I play with it some more I will make an update.
- Cons: The display is only 1280x800. I wish that was a little better.
- Other Thoughts: Vista is bloated and I had trouble getting XP installed as I couldnt find a BIOS setting to get SATA disabled. Ubuntu 9.04 screams.
Great, powerful laptop
- Pros: -Very powerful
-Great feeling keyboard -Really nice looking -Many different kinda of ports -Quiet
I've tested the computer with applications like Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, and it runs super fast, without any problems. I have also tested it with games like Left 4 Dead, Demigod, and Crysis, and while Crysis can only run on med-high, everything else runs in high really smoothly and it plays great. The keyboard controls to change the power mode and screen colour mode are neat touches, but I don't really notice much of a difference when I change modes... The computer itself is super sexy looking, very nice keyboard with big keys, and tons of ports for plugging everything you want into it. It is very quiet, until of course you put a CD in there, then, like all computers, you hear it spinning.
- Cons: -VISTA SUCKS!!!!
-Full of bloat-ware, to the point where it's almost unusable -Some of the features don't work in XP -Hunting for XP drivers is a headache -Fingerprint magnet
Oh my goodness how Vista sucks. I have used it before on other computers that weren't filled to the brim with bloat-ware and I didn't like it very much. On this computer, it's pretty much unusable! There's so much stuff on it when you first get it, you might as well just format it right from the beginning. After formatting and putting on my version of XP, everything worked great, though I had to search around for drivers for EVERYTHING, which is to be expected. Took me a while to find everything, but once I did, I still could not get the fingerprint reader and air ionizer working. Oh well... This thing is also a BIG fingerprint/dust magnet, get ready to clean often.
- Other Thoughts: Best laptop I've ever owned. For the price, this is top quality, great for gamers. Don't go for that mac, or dell. Stretch your dollar further by buying a powerful computer like this one.

Great Product
- Pros: I have had no problems with this laptop whatsoever. It runs very fast in Windows 7 RC, which installed fine.
- Cons: The webcam was installed upside down, so you need the latest drivers, but they fix it.
- Other Thoughts: Great laptop for the price.
Powerful for the Price
- Pros: This machine ran WoW at 60fps and less than 100ms lag without even installing the program. I ran it over my home network from a computer running XP Home. I was completely amazed.
The security software is also pretty sweet. I wouldn't rely on face recognition as it's not as secure as fingerprints (proof of concept tests have shown you can use a 2 dimensional picture out of a magazine to bypass face recognition).
This machine is fast!
- Cons: There is indeed a lot of bloatware. CCleaner or PC Decrapifier will do the trick but some progams are hard to identify as to whether they are necessary. Gotta figure out which daemons you actually need.
- Other Thoughts: I just upgraded from a 3 year old Dell Inspiron 1501. I had no idea you could get a laptop this nice for the price. It actually runs WoW better than my desktop computer. I'll be installing Win7 on this as soon as it's released. It's faster than Vista and XP.
Great Laptop
- Pros: All around great and speedy laptop...Quiet...No hiccups or problems.
- Cons: Thought the video card would be a bit more powerful...cannot play some newer games such as DemiGod and what not...
