F50SV-X1
- Pros: -nice webcam
-slim, somewhat lightweight -runs my most graphically challenging game (World in Conflict) at the highest graphics without lag -excellent wireless capabilities -average processor -runs cool -4 usb ports -looks nice -ONLY $800 -Newegg's fast shipping is nice -nice large screen -full sized keyboard -runs VERY well -for some reason microsoft gave this computer a higher gaming score than my friend's $1300 Asus notebook
- Cons: -VISTA
-battery life is terrible, I can only get about 2 hours on the power save feature with the wifi turned off and the screen brightness as low as it can go. Maybe my battery is defective or something. -the ..uhh mouse bar clicker thing is kind of hard to push down but you get used to it -the HD is kind of lower end, I recommend upgrading it to something faster -a bit of bloatware, all of it is easy to uninstall but it makes setting up TAKE FOREVER -it's a dust magnet
- Other Thoughts: This is a great laptop for a gamer on a budget or just someone who wants a little more. I do NOT regret my purchase at all however I do recommend downgrading to XP or upgrading to Vista 64 bit or Windows 7 when it comes out.
For the price it is one of the best notebooks available
To use the webcam, like most Asus laptops, you can activate the webcam software by pressing FN and the V key (it has a little picture of a camera on it)
Oh and one other thing, the shift key on the right side (underneath the enter key) is smaller than on a standard keyboard, it threw me off at first but you get used to it.
If you need to ask any questions regarding this computer then you can email them to me at connor.barnes@gmail.com and Ill be happy to answer them.
Great laptop great price
- Pros: good screen size, webcam, great specs, very competitive price, runs smoothly and cooly, smooth sleek design, SD card slot as well as 4 USB ports (no adapters anymore), touchpad is tolerable, numberpad
- Cons: oddly placed speakers (works fine enough on a flat surface), annoying bloatware, dust magnet (what shiny new electronic doesn't attract dust though...) It was nearly impossible for me to find the program to run the webcam with...
- Other Thoughts: considering this is my first laptop I didn't really know what to expect, this laptop runs much cooler than my friends did, for 800 dollars your getting just about the max you possibly could on a laptop. All the stickers come off with no residue or easily removed residue.

I like it!
- Pros: Nice stylish look. Love the keypad/full keyboard (though the right arrow key is where i'd usually hit the '0'). For the price it is loaded up with a lot of stuff that has yet to meet my demands. I've been using it to rip DVDs and then convert them to iPod format so I can watch my movies on the go and the system doesn't slow down at all. I'm converting one right now and I forgot because you just can't tell. For the light gaming I've done it's handled it (Sims 3 is probably the most graphics intensive i've done). Love the quickboot that Asus mobos are coming with now a days. for someone who just wants to surf and chat it's really convenient. Bloat ware wasn't really a problem (i mean... it *was* but for the lazy man's bloat ware "removal" just run msgconfig and uncheck most everything on the startup tab. next boot after that was very fast.
- Cons: would have liked more battery life. granted i'm just using this to surf on the couch while I watch tv, I could never use it to watch a movie on a plane or anything like that. you're looking at 2 hours tops with normal use. Also, since it comes with Vista 32 bit you only get a little over 3 Gigs of memory out of the 4GB you pay for (not that i've noticed). When you first turn it on except to wait for about 1 hour while it installs all the bloat ware while you watch helplessly (but like i said you can get rid of it fairly quickly if you're laz). Also gets fairly warm when plugged in/processing a lot. not alarmingly hot, just enough to make your lap pretty toasty.
- Other Thoughts: For the price, this laptop is yet to disappoint me. I don't use usually use it for any hardware intensive stuff, but it's nice to know i've got a lot of head room for things I can do on this machine. I shopped around a few months watching newegg's newsletters and hotdealsclub and this is one of the best deals i found for what i was looking for.... from what i can see it still is.
Great laptop!
- Pros: Great laptop for the low price of $800. Plays most games on high, boots up very quick, and doesn't overheat. Full keyboard makes typing very easy and the sleak design is nice.
- Cons: I am not a fan of Vista. Especially that it came with 32 bit Vista, instead of 64. But I suppose there had to be some catch to this great deal. I have not had any problems as of yet other than dealing with all the bloatware that is hampering the system resources. But I plan to uninstall these programs soon. After a Win7 install this fall, I am sure I will enjoy the 4GB of memory and system response even more!
- Other Thoughts: Great choice for a gaming laptop on a budget. Very hard to find a laptop with a dedicated video card with 1GB for less than $1000.
- Pros: sleek and shiny
4 GB memory
Excellent graphics
Core 2 Duo-everything has it
Great Specs
Only $800
- Cons: Bloatware just makes setting up hell
Vista-32bit
Short battery life
- Other Thoughts: Great Laptop runs fallout on high without lag Also great wi-fi capability. Ok webcam. fast shipping. and a great deal for only $800
