Supposed to be good with Linux
- Pros: I bought this machine because of its performance/price value.
Comes with cutting edge hardware. Supposed to perform well with Linux OS.
- Cons: I needed to re-set some values after installing latest nvidia driver with Ubuntu 9.04. Unfortunately, technical support is worse than weak! I sent emails to get the display features like vertical/horizontal refresh rates as well as dot per second clock rate but did not get any response. The live-chat option on their support web site has never worked. Looks like refresh rate for 1920x1080 is very low under linux/windows and they don't provide any customized edid.bin file to fix it.
Everything I expected
- Pros: Beautiful graphics, and HD screen. Sleek and shiny, Blue LED's are cool too on the case. This thing is a beast. Plays WoW, Aion, Crysis wihout so much as a hiccup. I did an auction scan on one WoW account, played another one, and ran a virus scan all at once with no hesitation. Great for school also, not so heavy and bulky that it feels like a desktop replacement, but feels like there is plenty of room for the different games' interfaces. Keyboard is one of the easiest notebook keyboards to type on. The chiclet keyboard is the way to go. The free warranty upgrade, and free Window's 7 is a plus. Basically way worth it for the price.
- Cons: As many have said, speakers aren't the best, but hey who doesn't buy speakers for their computer even if they aren't that bad? It is a laptop you know. Gamers will have their headsets anyways. Dust does attract to slick black surfaces, but I keep a spray duster handy, so no biggie. As for the heat issue, it will get a bit hot, but heat is forced out the left side, and there are quick presets for what you are doing such as "Performance Mode" "Entertainment Mode" and "Battery Saving Mode," so I switch it back whenever I"m not gaming with just a click of the mouse. I guess that should go in the Pros.
- Other Thoughts: Great computer for the price. Especially good for the college student who likes their entertainment/gaming and likes to hit up a raid or arena match when home on the weekends when the parents are being annoying. Ha!
pretty good
- Pros: keyboard is much better than I ever expected
looks great nice design and manufacturing
- Cons: speaker is really bad, even when I have mic
arrow keys should have been designed better, very hard to use too many logos in the surface can't cancel the sound every time i start it hard to keep clean
- Other Thoughts: my cons are more but I really like it
it is both cool and disturbing with the back LCD light I installed Win 7 and it seems the hard drive does not like it
