4 out of 5 eggsBest bang for buck. Full stop

Pros: This laptop is not only performant and beautiful. It comes with features not documented on the website. To name a few: Facial recognition technology. An "express OS" that loads up in about 8 seconds so you can get on the web faster, skype, use IM or listen to music or checkout pictures on you SD card. It comes with a recovery DVD which is a rarety these days.

Bioshock and Left4Dead work FLAWLESSLY with all settings at high and highest quality.

Screen is brilliant after a bit of tuning. With onboard expresscard and ESATA and bluetooth. It is a well rounded and well built.

Cons: Bloatware. And lots of it.
Also, not exactly a con, but the sceen lid doesn't latch, that may be an isue to some.

Other Thoughts: It took a while to arrive, mainly because I went for the cheap shipping. There was a bit of a fumble with my order as well, but all is well and this baby's awesome reputation is well deserved.

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy

Pros: - Runs all applications that I need flawlessly
- Nice screen resolution
- GREAT value for your money
- includes mouse and carry bag

Cons: - Battery limited to 6 cell - 3.5 hours of usable work time.
- Somewhat heavy.

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop because I went back to college. I study in geomatics (GIS) so Autocad and ArcGis are software I will be running on this machine. So far, it runs great (even better then school computers). Very happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsStudent/Gamer/first laptop

Pros: First..costumer service was amazing.I ordered it and it came about two days before I expected it to come.

Second...I have been using it for school alot and works good. Key board is nice to use I am very comfortable with it.

Third...Some say it doesnt work well for gaming but I have played a ton of games and the graphics card holds out very well.(WOW,Starcraft 2,Sims 3,etc.)

Fourth...For the deal I got it on I am more than pleased.I go on alot of trips and the battery lasts long enough(3-4 hours) on battery save mode depending on what your doing.

Fifth...good screen.lively.and as long as you have a good backpack carrying it really isnt a big deal.

Last...I looked for probably about a month and learned alot spec wise about laptops.I was about to get another one when this popped up literally last minute.I jumped on it sent it to some knowledgable friends and they said it was a great deal for sure.I had went with my gut got it and am proud of it.

P.S.Newegg was great.

Cons: Not to many at all.figerprint magnet but who really cares for a good laptop.does need you to burn your own start up disks.but suck it up go buy some blank CDs and burn it and keep em in a safe place."big deal".(sarcasm).I mean your gonna want them for CDs anyways.

Other Thoughts: Very proud of this laptop.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop

Pros: Excellent picture quality, both to the monitor and via HDMI output. Plenty of processing power. Nice to have dedicated number pad on the keyboard.

Cons: Glossy lid gets smudged easily. Something wasn't installed properly when I got it and couldn't view many webpages - reinstalled everything - camera drivers installed wrong and image upside down, few other driver probs - wiped for 2nd time and reinstalled again (auto-install of all software didn't work either time, had to do all individually and manually) but 3rd time appears to be the charm...Now enjoying full functionality.

Other Thoughts: Battery life is as good as can be expected on a screen of this size in a computer with this kind of processors. Despite cons listed, would highly recommend this unit!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Big screen, Large keyboard, Fast. I bought this notebook, being a little skeptical due to the other reviews. I was ready for a new notebook and this was in my price range (on special for $675). It has been an excellent notebook from day one. I got it for light gaming and it was rated a higher battery life than my old Dell Inspiron 1525. Express Gate is great for a quick internet search or needing to check e-mail quickly.

Cons: After some research, i found that the GT 220M is a re-release of the 9600m GS, not the most powerful card but it works.

Other Thoughts: I am able to play WoW on high settings with little to no lag, Fallout 3 will play smooth on a little higher than Med settings, Half-Life 2 and TF2 have no problems running at Med-High settings. I have very happy with this notebook and Newegg always rocks, quick shipping and excellent customer support.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Great Laptop for the price. I have been building desktops for years using ASUS motherboards. They have not disappointed me yet. I wanted to give this ASUS Laptop a shot and it has met all of my expectations and then some. Comes with a HDMI video Port.

Cons: At first I was not thrilled with the colors on the monitor even after playing with all the brightness and individual colors. It was a bit frustrating trying to find the right display settings. Then I ran the Splendid Utility that came on the desktop and switched to vivid mode. The colors switched from a dullish look into a more lively display.

Other Thoughts: Great service from Newegg. I ordered it on a Tuesday morning and had it on Wed afternoon.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat buy...if it will last...

Pros: It's fast, quiet, and keeps fairly cool. A sleek design with good audio. The screen is bright and has great color. The video card can handle movies, light gaming, and everyday task with ease, however. The battery life is as advertised. 500 GB HDD is a plus.

Cons: This is not meant to be lugged around. Poorly built. The screen is very flexible on the hinges can cause red lines to appear in the screen. You have to be very careful when you carry it, in particular, with your hands as you can squeeze the screen with the slightest pressure.

There's also loads of bloatware which can be removed. It does not come with Windows 7 Recovery Disc. You have to burn your own Windows Recovery Disc (3 DVD-Rs) which sets it back to factory settings (re-installing the bloatware).

Not intended for gaming. If you want a gaming laptop, look elsewhere. 3D graphics are decent but definitely no where near high end.

Other Thoughts: If it were not cheap design of the screen, I would have given this laptop 5 eggs. I am rather concerned about the screen being damaged due to the flexibility. The red lines appear and disappear as the screen flexes. Prolonged use looks grim if you are wanting a mobile laptop. Fortunately, ASUS covers screen damage up to three years and 2 years (with mail-in warranty) of accidental (drops, spills, etc.) damage.

2 out of 5 eggsScreen Failure

Pros: Fast, quiet, stays cool, battery life is about 3-4 hours. Great value at $679.99 (came with carry bag & mouse). Handles everyday computer usage with ease - documents, internet, music, video.

Cons: Video card is not made to handle 3D graphics & computer games. It will do a decent job but if you are looking for a gaming laptop, look elsewhere.

Other Thoughts: There was a thick red line through the middle of the screen 4 days after I received it. If this had not occured, I would have given it 5 egg rating. Had to send it back for a refund. Very disappointed in the screen failure but please with ASUS's customer service.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Multimedia System, Fine For Light Gaming

Pros: Overall, I'm very satisfied with this machine. Performance-wise, it runs everyday programs (Google Chrome, Word, Skype, etc.) with ease, and video (HD or otherwise) runs smoothly.

The keyboard is comfortable and easy to use, though I'm not sure why ASUS decided to throw in a numpad. I've never been a huge touchpad guy, but the one here seems good for regular navigation. The system also runs much, much cooler than my old Dell XPS M1530, which is a huge plus for me. The palmrest is more comfortable than my old laptop as well.'

I think this computer is fine if you want to play games that aren't very GPU-intensive (Team Fortress 2, World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2 Beta, most indie games, etc.) but don't expect to run Crysis on high settings with it.

Express Gate (aka Splashtop) is really convenient for someone like me who likes to quickly check his email in the morning before school or work. It gets you on the internet in 10-15 seconds without even booting Windows.

Cons: The screen is great for the most part, but you'll have to fiddle around the with brightness settings. On mid and high brightness, the colors look a little washed out. This probably won't bother most people, and I don't see it as a big issue, but it may irk some.

The multi-touch functions on the touchpad are absolutely terrible. They're way too hard to use compared to other touchpads like the Macbook Pro's. But like I said before, I think the touchpad is good for regular use. Just avoid the multi-touch stuff. Usually I stick to using a mouse anyway.

I'm the first to admit these complaints are basically minor nitpicks. I'm more than pleased with this notebook.

Other Thoughts: Like TJ, I had zero problems running TF2 (or any other Source-engine game, for that matter). In fact, it consistently runs at 50-60 FPS on recommended settings. My guess is that Matt is running on a power setting that doesn't use 100% CPU power, because I noticed a huge drop in performance when I switched to Power Saver mode.

I've only been using N61VG for a few days, but right now I'm definitely happy with my purchase. It seems much better built than my old Dell was.

4 out of 5 eggsHappy customer

Pros: This works really well. I love the widescreen, it stays really cool (except the exhaust vent which is to be expected), and the full keyboard is a plus. I think I saw someone say it doesn't handle TeamFortress 2 (copyright Valve), but I have had no trouble with this game on this system. I would highly recomend this laptop from this site.

Cons: Fingerprints, but you can't avoid it on any laptop.

Other Thoughts: The asus fastboot, while not pretty, is pretty handy for getting onto the internet in less than a minute. 500GB is really nice, unless you store lots of movies then I suggest an external. I would recomend this to everyone
