Solid Gaming Product
- Pros: This laptop's display is 17", its very lightweight/compact for a computer of its size.
Great gaming processor, graphics and a lot of RAM that equates to a laptop with a need for speed - the thing has a brilliant display and just thrives on speed. I am able to run multiple applications, including a game, simultaneously without any noticeable performance problems.
A large hard drive allows for a ton of storage for games and whatnot, this has been convenient for me.
ASUS has preloaded a few productive software that serve as helpful utilities (a backup utility and others).
- Cons: There are really no cons here except that the battery doesn't really last too much more than a couple hours. The battery life could be better but you can't really expect more battery life from a powerhouse laptop.
Very good machine!
- Pros: Very fast boot up. Comes with a good variety of software. Windows 7 is awesome. The picture recognition software for login works awesome! Gaming on it is faster than my desktop! COD MW2 runs amazingly fast. Crysis as well! All with highest possible settings!
- Cons: NOTE - These are all minor cons, very minor. Unable to turn off the LED's on top of the laptop, but you can turn off some of them. Had to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate to be able to run programs in XP mode, which is necessary for 90 % of the software I run. Getting my saved games over to the new Windows 7 settings is a a little tedious, but to be expected. Having to install the Windows XP virtual machine is also tedious, but necessary.
- Other Thoughts: Had to go into Direct Console 2.0 software to turn off the front LED lights. There is no way to turn off the Blue LED's on the top of the laptop, although you should be able to turn this off. No biggie though. You can easily find this by typing in the search function from the start menu - "Direct Console". Overall, this laptop is faster than my XP desktop, and it has a 260 GT Nvidia Card in it.
Great Laptop!
- Pros: Very fast, quick bootup. Not a whole lot of bloatware. Very sleek design. Screen looks amazing and very bright. Viewing angle is much better than my last 17in HP laptop. Installed fallout 3 to test it out, and it runs perfect on all high settings! This thing picks up wireless internet very well too. Everything was very simple to use and get started.
- Cons: comes with flashing lights enables on the top. They can be very annoying, especially when using it in a dark room. Didnt find anything about turning them off in the instructions, so I did a google search and found out how to shut them off. Very simple to do, just wish they would have put directions on how to do it. Also, this thing is a little bigger than my old 17in HP laptop, and almost has a hard time fitting in my laptop bag. These cons are not enough to drop my opinion or rating on this laptop at all.
- Other Thoughts: All considered, this thing is amazing. Best bang for the buck that I could find. Looks really sharp, people give me comments on it all the time. Im still amazed at how fast it is. Warranty is great for a product like this too. Windows 7 works very smoothly, I already like it much much more than windows vista.
