5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Laptop

Pros: Can still run mid tier games and even high end games on medium settings
Long life, durability

Cons: overheating

Other Thoughts: I dont even know if newegg will still sell this laptop, but mine just died today ( officially) so i thought id write a review.. i have had it over 4 years, first year i had to remove the bottom cover and get a high powered cooling pad, 2nd year had no issues at all, 3rd year was miserable tho lol as newer, more powerful games kept coming out i had to resort to cutting the blue wire that goes to the fan, to make it run at 100% speed at all times, then my screen kept going in and out, and finally this last year with it (4th year) my battery has now stopped charging and is just staying at 85%, the fact this laptop lasted 4 years and still in 2014, with all the issues ive had with it recently, it still ran every game that came out at good fps....if you can still buy this from here or a different site, id say go for it!! its a great starter gaming laptop even with how old it is..

5 out of 5 eggsA year later

Pros: I've owned this thing for a year and will say it is an EXTREME value for such a price. This thing will run any game you throw at it (usually on high settings, if not maxed completely) and will never fail you. It has plenty of connections (many usb ports, mic/headphones, HDMI etc.) and with some tweaking in settings, even the built-in speakers are pretty great. Many complain they aren't loud enough but in windows sound settings there is a way to boost the volume.

Opening the back panel gives you easy access to upgrade RAM, there's an additional HD slot, and you can even put coolant if you feel the need (I would recommend it)

So Many pro's with this thing it's crazy. I thought it would come to my house damaged or not working, I hate buying things refurbished but I'm completely satisfied with this.

Cons: Now there are a few Cons to this, but they are outweighed by the pro's.

1.) HEATING. This thing is a monster machine and gets HOT! Get a cooling bad (The biggest you can get,) preferably a nice one, don't go cheapo on it. This thing needs cooling. If you have the know-how, you can put coolant on the cpu/gpu, and even build a custom vent for the bottom. I built my own lapboard, and it STILL get's hot at times, but I suppose in the winter it's nice.

2.) The keys smudge big time so if that bothers you, just be forewarned. After a year though I'm happy to say no keys have gone bad

3.) The AC/DC power supply I got with it has since been replaced, and I'm needing to replace the battery I fear.

4.) Since this thing runs so hot, it literally melted the safety cap on both of my AC/DC cords, and because of that, it turns off randomly as it doesn't stay latched in. I don't know if anyone else has this problem but it's horrible!

Other Thoughts: I will say that, my laptop would sometimes short. There is a fix for it, you just have to remove the battery and power supply and hold the power button in for a minute or so.

It may not work the first time but it eventually will work.

My laptop was off for about a month and finally decided to come on today lol so

4 out of 5 eggsI enjoy it!

Pros: The laptop seems extremely powerful. How the power to put out great performance from the video card and the processor. Has a good amount of HD space, 4 GB of RAM and extremely great at games like World of Warcraft, Age of Empire 3, and Left 4 Dead 2. I am sure this laptop can handle Rift as well. I would have gave this computer 5 out of 5, but there was one con I didnt like.

Cons: Do not use the Recovery CD! You would think, it would reinstall OS for you, thats a big no. I had to do it because Service Pack 1 wouldnt download nor install (from Windows Update nor from Microsoft site). Had to go buy a OS for it. As well, once you do put the OS on it, some of the buttons stop working, like the touchpad to turn it off and on, doesnt work after the new OS was put on it.

Other Thoughts: There was a bit of a tiny crack on upper left, hardly noticable, and a its true, its a finger print magnet! The video card does put out some heat. Other then that, its worth the $1000 value, but a great steal at $615!

5 out of 5 eggs(Open Box) G60VX

Pros: *I paid $415 for an Open Box one here on the Egg!!! IT even came with free UPS 3-day Shipping!!!
*260 GTX
*Lit keyboard
*Good HDD, Memory, and CPU

Cons: *When I first turned it on the sound didn't work. But that's fixable. It was a driver issue.

Other Thoughts: I would have paid more for it, but for $415 I knew I couldn't pass it up! Then it got here and the comp looks BRAND NEW! Not a scratch on it! I figured it'd come with the sound problem and after that was fixed I've been home free to game!

Yes, there is a heat problem with this laptop (as with many laptops). The heat problem in my opinion is due to the fact that the little round "speaker" looking thing at the bottom is in fact nothing. It is right over where the gpu pulls in air and the "speaker" itself is sealed tight so the gpu can't get any fresh air. I'll be making a mod by opening it up to bring fresh air in :)

3 out of 5 eggsBUYER BEWARE!!!

Pros: Pros
-Everything was neatly packaged, laptop was shrunk-wrapped to a cardboard insert.
-At first glance, seemed to be in good quality condition.
-The unit itself is great! Looks cool, run quick, comes with recovery CD and drivers.

Cons: OK, I understand RECERTIFIED; but mine is literally damaged! The front screen bezel was missing a screw on the top right hand side. I didn’t notice this at first, but once I did took a closer look, the area in the bezel where the screw is supposed to hold the bezel to the back is physically broken, so even if a screw was there it wouldn’t support the bezel OR screen. So, the top right hand side has a gap, which could very well cause future issues the more the lid is lifted and closed. I don’t feel a ‘recertified’ product should be literally damaged right out of the box. I can live with physical scratches, which is what I was expecting, but if the bezel begins to separate anymore and discolor, this unit was a waste of money. This will be the last time I purchase any type of ‘refurb’ from ASUS.

Other Thoughts: I feel that if an item is physically damaged with the possibility of being unusable in the future because of a defect, it should NOT be sold!

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible Choice

Pros: -It came with everything, disks, battery, cord, etc.
-Fast computer
-Non-overcrowded desktop when first opening

Cons: -Scratches upon scratches, just everywhere on the inside
-Few scratches on top
-the lid part of the laptop is starting to split in 2 on one of the sides (I mean common.... did someone try to break this?)

Other Thoughts: Terrible condition even for refurbished. I knew that it was not going to be perfect but this just makes this deal not worth it at all. I rather pay more money for something acceptable. I may try to get a better conditioned one but not sure if I will do that or go for a better one. This is sad because if it came in decent condition I would have loved this PC. The only reason I give this a 2 Star is because of the bad condition. Otherwise It would have been a 5.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming laptop for low price

Pros: Easy to access key parts for repair if needed, 2nd HDD slot is awesome, can handle every game I've thrown at it so far (Arkham Asylum, WoW, Just Cause 2) at max settings, great picture, very durable.

Cons: Had to buy an external portable Altec Lansing speaker for $30 because the volume isn't that great. Really not a big deal. FINGERPRINT MAGNET! Also, battery life is only about 1 hr 15 minutes unplugged with the 6 cell, but hey, it's a desktop replacement more than your traditional portable laptop.

Other Thoughts: Replaced CPU grease prior to purchase with Artic Silver. Heavy, but I'm using it at home for the most part.

4 out of 5 eggsFor those with Wireless issue

Pros: - Solid gaming laptop, runs everything great
- Although a refurb looks brand new, not a mark on this one, I got really lucky
- Not as large as I expected, though definitely large for a laptop.
- Great price point for a gaming laptop. Asus seemed (judging from the reviews here) of refurbing these really well and making them well worth the money right now.

Cons: - It does have the audio issue that others have stated, where the speakers don't work but headphone do. If that's the only problem I won't be returning it for that alone.
- Lots of bloatware, moreso than I expected. I have yet to do a reinstall, but likely will

Other Thoughts: Now, for those having the Wireless issue where your connection gets disabled/turned off. I had the same thing happen where my hardware switch got moved to off when I was packing it up and when I turned it back on, I wouldn't re-enable. There is also a software button to toggle it ON/OFF by holding FNCT+2 (? it's the one with the wifi logo on it - might be 3 - don't have the comp in front of me atm). Try that before going to any extremes. Looks like the hardware button might be disabling it in the software also so you have to toggle both.

4 out of 5 eggsVery impressed

Pros: - Looks brand new, only a single small scratch on the outer case
- Runs WoW on Ultra perfectly fine in almost every raid and everywhere outside of raids
- Still adjusting to having a key pad, but it's often handy to have
- Love the USB ports on different sides, left, right and back
- Light-up keyboard makes playing at night so much easier

Cons: - I can still see fingerprints on the shiny surface around the keyboard and the more mac surface where your palms rest
- Occasionally, the network drops every 5-7 minutes, a restart usually clears this
- One time, the network adaptor was saying it was off, when it wasn't. Nothing I tried fixed this, but starting the system in lightning mode then switching to OS fixed it somehow.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I love this system so much that I gave it 4 eggs. I had to take off one egg for the network adaptor card as that's a very annoying and critical impact negative to the system. If it never happened or was fixed when I tried to repair it, then I would've given 5 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS G60VX

Pros: GTX260M Runs NEW Games on high settings just bought the G60VX and both versions of Battlefield Bad Company 2 and "Vietnam" runs like a top. I'm a web and graphic designer for two local radio stations in the Baton Rouge area and thought that the processor would be a bit of a problem well its not runs Photoshop and Dreamweaver CS5 great!

Cons: The processor is not "super fast" but its fast I have core i3 Dell Insipiron that is now for sale because I really like this G60VX.
There arent many cons here other than the fact that it was a refurbish. Mine came in immaculate condition and I can be a real prick at times this thing looked brand new man.

Other Thoughts: Im playing all of my favorite video games and I dont have to carry around a big stupid 18 inch computer. I refuse to buy a 17 inch or larger laptop it aint happnin.
