1 out of 5 eggsUsed to like, until customer service got involved.

Pros: Used to be a great company, product wise. Just hope you never have to deal with customer service.

Cons: I really like ASUS products until I dealt with customer service today. My u35jc was suppose to come with 1 year of accidental damage protection, well what they don't tell you is that you have to "activate" it or they won't cover you. EVEN IF IT HAS ONLY BEEN 10 OF THE 12 months. With verifiable receipts and such to prove it, they WON"T help you. Then they will just put you on hold for an hour to "wait for a supervisor" only to hang up on you. Like I said, I give the product itself good marks, but I can't in my right mind give the company more than one star after this. This is after I have also bought the ul20ft, a DVD burner, two vh238 monitors and 1000he from them. So much for standing behind your warranty ASUS. If you never had to deal with the company for support issues then the computers are great, but I won't be buying the transformer like I had planned after this. Sorry ASUS you have lost my business for life.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: For a sub $1k laptop, this thing is great. SUPER fast, overall very quiet (the fan will speed up/down depending on your work of course, but even when you're putting a load on the processor its still quiet). Nvidia Optimus is definitely a plus - getting great battery life out of it. I use this every day at work with a 24" screen via HDMI, and this machine does an amazing job of driving both the external and built-in screens, at full resolution, at impressive speed. i3 processor has been great - I run an Ubuntu Linux virtual machine on top of Windows 7 every day and it performs perfectly (memory gets pushed a little, but processor doesn't even cough).

Also, she's pretty thin. If aesthetics play into your purchasing decision at all, this is definitely up to par.

Cons: Bloatware. Asus puts a bunch of annoying stuff on here. Also, the screen viewing angles aren't that great - but certainly livable.

Other Thoughts: Regarding the sagging keyboard issue, I had read about that problem in reviews on more than one site, but decided to purchase anyways. Owning it now, I haven't seen one bit of a problem w/ its construction other than the battery not fitting completely tight. From my experience, you'd have to be consciously stabbing the keyboard to see it flex at all.

4 out of 5 eggsI guess people can have an opinion...

Pros: Ultra clear screen, 500GB HD + 500GB online storage, remarkably quiet, place where you keep your palms stays nice and cool, remarkably slim, rather lightweight, great battery life (10+hours on low power w/wifi ON), power control button is a great feature, handles Black Ops, TF2, Civ V, and several other games. HDMI out, 3 USB ports (no USB 3.0). Speakers are loud and sound quality is great. 13.3" screen is the perfect size for travel without having to hurt your eyes on something smaller.

Cons: ok the other guy is right about a few things:
1. Viewing angles are pretty bad, but if you're using the laptop and looking at the screen, its perfectly clear straight on. That's all he's right about. No optical drive, but i dont really use one even on my desktop. Exhaust port on the side reveals that the air inside is incredibly warm, so it will heat your leg up if it's sitting on your lap. The bloatware ASUS installs on these machines is ridiculous, even the pre-installed ExpressGate is pretty worthless, unless you're in a dire emergency to get on the internet. I got it for $770 on a separate site. check out j r dot com, for j r music and electronics store. Four eggs for price, and screen viewing angle.

Other Thoughts: as for the rest of what that guy wrote, he must have gotten a bad model. The keyboard is the Chicklet style, but is completely solid to type on, and also doesn't "click" as much as he makes it seem. it's rather quiet and very easy to use. Yes, the bottom is plastic, but guess what? so is EVERY other laptop on the market! deal with it. it's an incredibly solid design with aluminum all around except the bottom. My CPU doesn't make a sound when I plug anything in, the only time the fan really spins up is when I use my Ubuntu partition, because Ubuntu doesn't have great thermal controls. I never had an issue with ASUS customer support for the whole 2 times I have ever had to call them. Guess he caught someone on a bad day. Not a single crash yet. Also when people leave reviews like that, I highly doubt their tech level is "very high". Don't trust that. Go read LegitReviews or Cnet or something like that and make up your own minds. I love this laptop, and glad i bought it.

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT buy!

Pros: Price point, seemed to good to be true...and it was.
Battery lasts a solid 7 hours+ with regular tasks and wireless on.
Power profile button was nice

Cons: Very cheap construction overall.
- keyboard sinks quite severely on the left side and some - - key provide a "clank" as a result of poorly constructed double wide keys (tab, caps lock, enter, etc)
- the bottom is plastic
- CPU whines like crazy whenever a USB device is attached. I have a USB wireless mouse plugged in all the time so this was a huge factor for me
- Screen quality is about the worst I've seen, severe screen door effect and viewing angles are quite poor
- Customer service is terrible - I read somewhere that ASUS had rapid exchange for service, but when I called about the whine, I was told it would take about 14 days??)
- Crashed after just 12 days requiring a format and reinstall.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased ASUS motherboards for years and years. I bought this laptop becuase I had heard the Eee PC line of netbooks was nice. After such a cheaply built product and terrible customer support, never again will I purchase an ASUS product and I will discourage friends and family from doing the same.

I ended up returning the laptop for a full refund after just 12 days.
