1 out of 5 eggsCan someone who owns this computer help me?

Pros: Worked fine-for 3 months

Cons: Worked great for 3 months, then all of a sudden went black, rebooted itself and then told me "Windows cannot repair your computer automatically". Managed to backup my data on to an external with a third party backup program but now cant get Windows 7 to boot. Why they don't give you a Windows 7 disk I don't know. Anyway, stupidly I didn't make a recovery disk, so I went on the ASUS estore to buy one from them for $50, annoying but I felt fair enough it was my fault for not getting around to making it. Asus tell me then that apparently they have recovery disks for every notebook APART FROM THIS ONE. Awesome.

So, can anyone who owns this computer who made the recovery disk, help me by sending/selling me a copy? Thanks.

Pros: I'm not going to sell this product for ASUS

Cons: USB and ESATA ports drop communication.
Bad support. Some of the Techs will hang up on you if the problem is too involved.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this unit!!

1 out of 5 eggsDo not know which is worse, the computer or the customer support

Pros: Let me start by saying that I went out of my way (and pocket) to buy this computer. Its specs were just awesome. It seemed a bit more expensive than the competition but I decided to go for ASUS QUALITY. What a mistake that was...!!

Cons: Creating AI-Recovery DVDs wasted about 15 DVDs for me as the process would get stuck at one or the other point.

The unit had its first BSOD within 2 days of light use, and more of them kept on happening intermittently. The machine rarely ever recovered from sleep. I looked at various blogs and found that a frequent suggestion to solve this problem is a clean reinstall. I went ahead and did so. The unit continued with its BSODs even after the clean install. I called the tech support. And their suggestion was:"Do a clean reinstall". I own a copy of Win7 pro which the tech support guy said should be better and more stable. I went ahead and now after a clean format and reinstall of Win7 professional on this computer, I get more problems than I bargained for, now the unit freezes randomly and then shows BSOD when it chooses.

Other Thoughts: My job absolutely depends on me having a functional computer. I told this to a tech support person who suggested that I should be able to get a replacement instead of a repair as the repair takes much longer. But the replacement can only be authorized by a supervisor.
I have been trying to get in touch with a service supervisor for last 5 days non-stop. The only thing I was able to get was voicemail boxes to leave messages that no one ever returns. I have gone through several hundreds of my cell phone's day time minutes in the process (I was on hold twice today for a total of 75 minutes). This is the single most horrible customer service experience of my life.
Finally, today, I was able to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor was another piece of work. He simply told me, "too bad you lose your job because of the problems in the computer, but we are not responsible for your job anyway, our job is to receive the computer fix it and send it to you.
I will lose my job in the meantime.

1 out of 5 eggsHard to say

Pros: Fast when it worked. Good video card, superhigh speed USB 3.0. great speakers

Cons: only worked for about a week. Then I started having problems. None of the USB ports recognized hardware. Programs began to crash, each and everytime I connected and external device notebook would have to search for the drivers.....even though they were already installed. Sent back to Asus Jan, 6th, 2011. Still has not been worked on. Cannot get a straight answer from anyone working at their customer service centers. One person said it was done a week ago, then next person says it's not even been looked at. A supervisor tells me to allow 14 days, which have passed and still not been worked on. As a professional DJ I was using this laptop when it failed. Never had a problem with Serato program on any other computers. Would recommend not buying this ever...Asus customer service is terrible. Today is 14 business days since they received Notebook. Still has not been looked at.

Other Thoughts: Go with another company.
