3 out of 5 eggsDecent while it lasted

Pros: It was great for the first year. I didn't have any performance issues, but I wasn't trying to run games or video editing. Would have been a great laptop if it lasted.

Cons: The power jack on the mother board starting losing connectivity after a year, meaning I had to put the power plug at weird angles to get it to charge. I tried soldering a new one on, but ended up breaking the motherboard (my fault).

The power jack on the left side was kind of annoying.

Same hibernate issue other people had, did not work had to restart.

Other Thoughts: I tried really hard to take good care of this laptop. I didn't drop it, bang it really hard, or just generally abuse it. I was severely disappointed when the power jack on the motherboard starting losing connectivity. For a good five months, I had to have my laptop sitting at an angle with the plug in a weird position to get it to charge. It wasn't the power adapter, I changed it hoping that would fix the problem. I won't buy Asus again after this.

3 out of 5 eggshmmmm

Pros: - decent for its specs

Cons: - performed very slow, and had some hardware issues.

Other Thoughts: Asus is a quality company, this just happened to be one of those models.... (not sure quality components were used)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Have you had the chance to download the latest drivers for your computer? You can find your computer's drivers by visiting the ASUS support page. By updating your computer, it should fix any slow down issues it is having. If it does not, please let me know by email, and I can look further into this for you. My email is cl-mark@asus.com.

5 out of 5 eggsIts my baby

Pros: This laptop has been very good to me and I use it for alot of different tasks. I've had it for almost two years now with really no problems (read cons) and recently upgraded the harddrive for another with more space and added more ram, maxing it out at 8gbs which makes it run even better. Other than one con, this laptop was well worth the $320 i paid for it.

Cons: Since the first day I got it, I found that it crashes after waking back up from sleep or hibernation; it gives me the blue screen. It can't be anything that I installed because there was nothing on it besides factory stuff when I received it. Since then I try to avoid putting it in sleep or hibernation and have learned to deal with it but now I want to fix this. If anybody has experienced the same thing and has figured out how to fix it please email me jharrington920@gmail.com. Im worried that one day it might die on me before I can back all my stuff up!

Other Thoughts: Overall great laptop, thanks NewEgg!

4 out of 5 eggsHigh CPU usage fix PLEASE READ

Pros: Just a Nice all over computer I found for my daughter...BUT please read below and you might find yourself happier.

Cons: High CPU usage after waking up from sleep or hibernation, so read Other Thoughts. Also the PC had to go back to have Hard drive replaced, but was done quick at no cost whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: ran Process Explorer and during the high CPU usage it reports that the file iaStor.sys is what's causing it. This file is the driver for device "Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller" under Device Manager. The old driver lists the device as "Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller" and it doesn't use the file iaStor.sys.

If you are experiencing the freezing problem can you check Device Manager and then look under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" and see which one of the above is listed? To access Device Manager click Start -> Right-click Computer -> Left-click Manage -> Select Device Manager.

If you have updated the driver and are experiencing high CPU usage then double click the Intel Mobile Express controller and go to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver then Yes, then click Close and reboot.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Terrible Terrible

Pros: None

Cons: Bought 3 of theses, one had the screen go out 2 months into its use. The second one, at 5 months now has the same issue. Bought extra warranty coverage up the ying-yang and it's worthless. New egg says as us has to take care of it and asus customer support is awful. I have to ship the unit to them and wait 15 business days..3 weeks..to have them take a LOOK at it. So I am out of a laptop for at least a month. Don't buy from new egg or asus.

5 out of 5 eggsBudget friendly yet good preformance

Pros: This has to be the most budget friendly ASUS out there. It's overall performance is amazing considering the price. The only thing that is a little lacking is the graphics card. However, if you're not a hardcore gamer looking for a Radeon like card, you'll have to either replace it or choose another model.

Cons: The "service net" plan is horrible. I had to mail them parts and get a REFUND rather then getting a new system which creates the annoyance of finding a new or similar system and then ordering it, and waiting for that to ship. Not to mention the price difference from when I bought the model.

Other Thoughts: My favorite computer I've ever owned. As expected from ASUS. <3. Even playing LoL or other MMOs the computer ran incredibly well, the other problems I've had is with the graphics.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat motherboard

Pros: Great usb 3.0 support, FX cpu , Uefi bios is nice. and Ram amount support

Cons: not sure how my new 8120FX will work with games.
The Board could used a usb3.0 cord to use it on the bake of my pc( extra cost).

Other Thoughts: FX CPU is not a great cpu. I hope it is way better than my x4 cpu i have now.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS A53

Pros: affordable, I would defiantly purchase this over any walmart brand laptop. Since Newegg rocks they cost roughly the same price. These are quiet, smooth running and have been using it for 3 months with no hicups at all.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: A great laptop for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome budget laptop

Pros: This is definitely a great laptop for a price that's hard to beat. Granted I bought it when it was on sale for $379, but:

- It runs very cool to the touch. Even if heated up by being in an enclosed space for a period, it cools off really quickly.

- Processor/RAM performance is decent and is as expected from a pre-i3 processor.

- The power gear software is really easy to use. I managed to get over 5 hours of battery life with it on battery save mode.

- It runs Ubuntu!

Cons: I do have a couple gripes...one being the wireless adapter. I think the one I have is dying since it disconnects constantly (other devices are fine). $28 later and a new chip will be installed (with 5ghz support!). The other is the sound quality. One speaker = not enough.

Other Thoughts: A fine budget laptop. It may struggle on modern games, but it'll run mostly anything integrated graphics can run.
