5 out of 5 eggsMy ASUS G74SX.AAA+++

Pros: Fast, runs cool, HDMI output, 3.0 USB. Fast CPU. Lit keyboard, what more could a person want. It runs movies and games simulataneously and average temperatue is 105ºf.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: The BD Ray drive they use is not very good. Mine and many others have had problems and there are no drivers or firmaware updates. I replaced mine. That BD they use is terrible.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted less than a year

Pros: None

Cons: Ugly as heck
Weighs a ton
Died after less than a year of light use

Other Thoughts: I'm going through the nightmare of having ASUS replace one of the 750GB Seagate drives that has died. Sadly the drive that died was the primary so the machine is dead and I've load data as a result.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Gaming Rig

Pros: Great machine. Tremendous value. Visually stunning screen. The case is subtle but stunning.

Cons: The keyboard takes some getting used to and the sound is shallow in a loud room

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Beautiful display. Large responsive keyboard with a numeric keypad. Fast and powerful, runs WoW just as well as my home desktop.

Cons: Heavy is the biggest detractor but I bought this as a desktop replacement. Does not come with Win 7 Professional as I'd expect from a laptop with its specs. Also only includes Office starter.

Other Thoughts: Fits fine in the backpack, I don't know what the other reviewers are complaining about. If your looking for a powerful laptop that your not going to cart around everywhere and so don't mind it being heavy, then I highly recommend this one.

3 out of 5 eggsMy Fall Vacation

Pros: Runs cool, nice screen, lots of memory. The best laptop I have owned once I fixed it.

Cons: poor quality hard drive, Asus warranty department.

They should have replaced the hard drive with a new one considering I was on vacation, and the laptop failed within 30 days
I wish the CPU was faster

Other Thoughts: When I first bought this laptop I was very pleased with it. I took it on vacation after 3 weeks of ownership. I started getting the blue screen of death while on vacation. I wanted to exchange the unit, but was unable to because I did not have the original box with me.
I was forced to send it in to Asus while on vacation. Asus repaired my hard drive instead of replacing it. It failed one week after it was returned to me.
I asked them to replace the hard drive the second time around, but they said they could only replace it with a new one unless the HD was irreparable.
I sent the hard drive in and kept it as a spare. I replaced both hard drives with WDC Scorpio Black HDs. It's a great laptop once I got past the bad hard drive and the unreasonable warranty department. It is faster and more reliable now that I upgraded the HDs.
I lost several thousand dollars due to the HD failure, and a significant portion of my vacation was ruined.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal!

Pros: *Beautiful display and good quality screen
*Great performance, especially considering the price. Able to play newest games (mw3, bf3) on max no problem. 3GB dedicated memory is worth every penny.
*Asus build-ins very compatible with OS
*Cooler than most laptops. Continue reading under cons, but this is one of the best features, imo.

Cons: *The keyboard cover is loose against the frame near touchpad. No big deal except it picks up some of the pressure from resting the hands on the board, moving the mouse and selecting whatever you are working on. Really annoying with typing. I just plug in a usb mouse and deactivate the pad when typing or gaming.

*Speakers aren't that great. Quality and volume are a bit lacking, but to be honest, an extra few decibels and this wouldn't have made it to the list. Fine to listen to music in a small rooom, but if you want to watch movies or pick up the detailed sound in BF3, you'll want to buy some speakers.

*Heat. The laptop itself is one of the coolest I've ever used. I play high-running games like BF3 on max, and can sit it on my lap comfortably. REALLY AWESOME. However, at the expense of the laptop running cool, the AC converter can fry an egg. The laptop my be on your legs, but you won't want the rest anywhere near you. Scorching.

Other Thoughts: Overall, especially if this is you price range, you probably won't find a significantly better deal. I'm really happy with mine. After those few little quirks, this machine is close to perfect. If I had to find something else to gripe about, and I mean HAD to, I would say it's a bit heavy. Considering what this thing is packing, however, it isn't worth the mention. Just don't try to run from the cops with it on your back, it'll drag you down, I'm sure.

Oh yeah, and if the bundle is still available with their backpack, be prepared to shop around more. The backpack that came with mine fits the laptop, but not much else. Forget it if you want a laptop pad or any other large accessory in there.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good

Pros: Everything is working and I see nothing wrong at this time. Screen was free of dead pixels. started up great, no issues as of yet.

Cons: Not happy with the packaging, it was held in place with the backpack that comes with it, but everything seems fine so no big deal.

Other Thoughts: Just got this in today, so far its working great, will write up a full review after I had some time to push this laptop to the max.
