3 out of 5 eggsWorked great at first

Pros: Very powerful for a laptop. Nice large screen. Looks great. Full size keyboard with actual num keys.

Cons: The power jack went out after about a year of moderate use. At first, I noticed the power cable wouldn't connect sometimes and I would be running on battery power without noticing (And the batteries only last about 30 min). Then one day it would no longer charge so I bought a new charger, but discovered that it wasn't the issue. Its now been sitting in my closet for me to get around to fixing it.

Other Thoughts: It was refurbished, so I suppose I didn't have high expectations of its reliability.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't do it

Pros: Fairly nice looking, powerful hardware (for the price), is good when it works which is not very often.

Cons: I have never owned a desktop or laptop that I have had more issues with. First the DC Jack had to be replaced, 4 months later the mother board need to be replaced, 1 month later it doesn't work and I put it in the corner to die. Will probably use it for a smash video. Computer was a money sink and I am done.

Other Thoughts: Every users experience may be different but google things like:

Asus G73 Power jack
Asus G73 Motherboard

And you will see that these failures are a common occurrence. You pay more to get more powerful hardware, doesn't mean it is reliable.

New Egg doesn't sell anymore so this review is only to warn any future buyers that might come across one. DO NOT BUY IT.

I will never buy an asus performance laptop again. I have never had a problem with their <$800 ones so I might still try them for that.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Powerful, sturdy, and reliable. Long battery life. More than enough video card power, hard drive space, and RAM for my purposes.

Cons: Huge and heavy. Really, I only wish I had gone for a 1080p matte resolution.

1 out of 5 eggsREFURBISHED STANDS FOR RUN AWAY

Pros: Good Price, Nice specs

Cons: It's Refurbished! It's like rolling the dice! You may get a gem, you might get an egg. Unfortunately for me I got an EGG!

PC runs fine for 15-30 minutes then randomly shuts off, it also occasionally freezes. Dealing with tech support now and it's a nightmare the amount of hoops they make you jump just to get a working product.

Other Thoughts: If you can afford to buy something new, just do it. Don't try to save a couple hundred bucks because you'll end up just giving yourself a headache and in the end I promise you the dollar amount you save won't be worth the time and effort you go through just to get what you paid for, a working laptop.

1 out of 5 eggsNever buy refurbished.

Pros: Played many of the higher tier games at decent settings.

Cons: Video card experienced severe issues shortly after the 90 day warranty and died within the year.

Other Thoughts: Never buy refurbished, or if you do, add as much warranty extensions as you ca. These are usually faulty products and laptops parts cost a great deal to replace. I'm looking at 250$ minimum(plus 40 to ship, and add tax or customs if applicable) for a video card that is a couple generations behind, whereas I could buy a desktop one that blows it out of the water. Parts are designed to fail shortly after warranty. Buyer beware.

4 out of 5 eggsMixed

Pros: Amazing. Does everything just fine.

Cons: Gloss screen, hard to use during the day. The i7 has a hard time with Java.

Other Thoughts: The warranty was not honored and I interacted with a terrible customer service rep. The hard drive was bad and they said it was a software issue, and it isnt their problem. I went out and replaced the hard drive. Guess what, it is working again.

I propose a toast to the awful customer service woman that had no idea what she was talking about.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Reliable

Pros: Powerful. Good graphics and sound for a laptop.

Cons: I have owned this laptop for 13 months and have had to send it in for repairs 3 times. The video card went first, then the power port went bad, then the entire LCD had to be replaced. Fragile construction....Don't buy this for primary use.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: This baby worked beautifully while it lasted.

Cons: After about 2 months of continuous use the battery stopped charging.

Other Thoughts: Just sent it in to get repaired. Acer support is a bit annoying.
