joe 9/24/2012 6:42:58 AM Tech Level: 3/5 Ownership: 5/5	Rating: 4/5Solid device Pros: Good battery life Good keyboard Quiet Fast dual core processor (i7 2640M is not a quad core) Good amount of RAM USB 3.0 Has one of the fastest mechanical 2.5" drives Cons: Screen has poor viewing angles Glossy Screen 1368x768 resolution screen SATAII 3GBPS Intel HD3000 Mechanical storage Thin metal on case is easily dented Other Thoughts: This is an i7 2640M which is a dual core 2.8GHz with hyper-threading and it has turbo up to 3.2GHz. I slide my laptop out of a backpack at least twice a day and the only problem I have had with mine is the rubber strip that prevents the laptop from sliding around has come off the bottom of the battery. The 750GB Seagate that comes in this laptop is one of the fastest 2.5" drives that you can buy but it still was holding back the machine considerably. I replaced the stock 750GB Seagate drive with a 256GB Samsung 830 drive and now the laptop is unbelievably fast. The only drawback with the controller is that this laptop only is limited to SATAII 3GBPS, so it can't fully utilize the sequential performance of the SSD I bought. USB 3.0 port Cons: Key board key placement (Home key located next to the backspace key), Over sensitive touch pad that needs to be disabled to keep the cursor from jumping around and randomly closing programs or documents. Other Thoughts: Even with it's i7 quad core processor the system does not have any snap to it during processing. It feels like I am using an older system. 2 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
