4 out of 5 eggsGood gaming machine

Pros: Good mid-range gaming laptop that satisfies all system requirements for games these days.

Cons: Windows 8, but getting used to it wasn't hard. Slow HDD. Loading into games make take quite a while. I'd recommend replacing it with something better. Few graphics settings in the NVIDIA control panel need to be tweaked otherwise the graphics will stutter during gameplay.

Other Thoughts: Overall, using this laptop has been a positive experience.

1 out of 5 eggsasus lol ok ?

Pros: well this is the final review on this unit (NONE) I never got to hardly use it

Cons: SERVICE WAS SAD. I bought this unit new last June. like I stated before in past reviews. im going to cut to the chase here. the 5th time in to asus. I got it back this time wouldn't even boot ?? so of course I had to fix it right my self after 5 times in to repair. ?????

Other Thoughts: and I will say if I would have purchased this from new egg this would have never have happened. just NO MORE ASUS FOR ME! PERIOD.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus g46vw

Pros: -Decent high end class 2 video card in a laptop for this price
-Runs just about any game
-Full sized back-lit keyboard
-Good ventilation design

Cons: -HDD
-Bad touch pad

Other Thoughts: I bought mine for a steal around Cyber Monday and it was first DOA due to a faulty power supply, so i had to pay shipping to send it back for a replacement. I was fortunate enough to receive a functioning one and instantly changed the slow HDD to an SSD to avoid future hard drive failures which took a while due to no easy access. It's been 6 months and I haven't had any issues with this laptop so far and the GTX 660 is currently taking games like a champ, but is quickly becoming outdated. In my opinion this is an excellent price for a laptop with these specs and really hard to find laptops this good for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing but headaches

Pros: High powered unit for it's weight

Cons: No battery life
No optical drive
only 720p display
Broke constantly

Other Thoughts: I would avoid this at all costs, especially refurbed. I've had complete system/hard drive failure on 2 occasions before. On the 3rd, during a memtest, the screen flashed, all lights went out, and now I have a thousand dollar paperweight on my hands.

Oh, and during the entire time of ownership (less than a year), the power cord barely connected properly and the unit would not charge to save it's life.

4 out of 5 eggsReally good laptop

Pros: Strong GFX card combined with i5. The 8 gb of RAM is a major plus. So far it has run every game I've thrown at it without a problem. Games like Far Cry 3 and Arkham City look really good on it and run without any framerate issues.

Cons: About 3 weeks into having this laptop, the power supply just up and died on it. I'm not sure if it was because it was defective or not, but since this was a refurbished laptop I wasn't too surprised it happened. Luckily, I was able to find a power supply online with the same specs as the original, and even though it set me back another 80 bucks, it has worked great ever since. Another setback is the hard drive. It can be very slow at times and feels out of place in comparison to the great CPU, higher end GFX card, and 8 gb of ram. A SSD or SSD Hybrid drive in this thing would really boost performance.

Other Thoughts: I paid $699 for this refurbished laptop and for the money I definitely feel like I got a good deal.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Great

Pros: Great gaming laptop for the price! Runs most games on High/Max settings at 1366x768 with no issues. It is a solid laptop and does not feel flimsy, pretty lightweight as well. Sound is pretty good and the illuminated keyboard is nice as well.

Cons: Came with Windows 8, the wifi range is not that great, standard 5400 RPM HDD (weird for a 'gaming' pc), and plugging in an HDMI to a TV is kinda weird because it takes it a minute to recognize it, but maybe that is just my TV or something.

Other Thoughts: Buy a faster hard drive, install Windows 7 if you don't like Win 8, that's what I did. Also there is no disk drive, but that did not bother me any but I some people still like to have one.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't Be Happier

Pros: Can run nearly any game on high setting with zero difficulty
Sleek design
Cooling is excellent
Relatively low weight for a gaming computer

Cons: Home key is annoyingly easy to hit when hitting backspace
Good amount of ASUS bloatware

Other Thoughts: I purchased this laptop to take to college and i couldn't be happier. It mostly acts as a desktop in my dorm, yet on the few occasions i have taken it to class for notes or other assignments the weight has never bothered me, plus i get a compliment or two on just on the basis of how nice it looks. It can game with the best of them. I have a good amount of time to game in my dorm and i am extremely pleased at how it handles the more intense games, in addition to the cooling, which is excellent. i am honestly surprised at how cool it stays, even after hours of gaming. Borderlands 2 runs like a dream. My only complaints, are the bloatware from asus, which was annoying until i uninstalled it all, and that i always hit the home key when backspacing, causing my cursor to jump to the beginning of the line, which has been cause for much frustration. Other than that i have no complaints. it's a solidly built computer with great design that can really put out.
