The Notebook comes with Windows 8, but you can download Windows 8.1 for free. That's what I did.

Question 2

Does this model have a FireWire port? I don't see one listed in the specs. I was thinking of ordering the Canopas video input device but I believe it requires your machine have a FireWire input port. Just don't want to make a $200 mistake ordering something that is incompatible. Thanks.

NO, it does not and since it (FireWire port) was developed by Apple and  does not have wide support among PC laptop makers (probably due to cost consideration for licensing and relative lack of consumer devices using the interface).  While FireWire interface has gained some traction among pro audio/video gear makers and its data rate is better than USB 2.0 with Mac OS, its effectiveness is thought to be varied with Windows OS, with USB 3.0 being faster, maybe.

This ASUS unit has 4 USB 3.0 port and 1 Intel developed Thunderbolt interface which were first seen MacBook Pro.

DID anyone get 3D glasses with this?  BEcause if it is 3D it's supposed to come with the glasses and mine didn't. :(

It's BYOG, it is in fact 3D and no it was never supposed to come with 3D glasses check your user manual and the ASUS website.

Question 4

Has anyone noticed that while u have the regular speakers on and subwoofers, that the sound is often distorted?  For example I bought this because I play poker and every time I have action at my table I hear a beep.  This beeps volume is sometimes really low or high.  But if I trick the laptop into thinking that it's playing continuous sound by playing music all the way turned down in the background then the beeps always stay at constant sound level.  I understand that the product is out of stock, but If someone can comment that would be terrific.  Thanks so much

I have not used the speakers on the laptop as yet. My normal usage is with headphones and I have not noticed anything like this while using the headphones. The volume capacity is a lot lower than my iPad or other computer, but, other than that I haven't noticed any distortion.

how long for the boot time?10 or 20 second?the 256ssd only one c drive or separate to c and d drive?

The boot time is ~10 seconds.

The SSD is treated as an independent drive from the HDD by windows 8.  By default there are two usable partitions on the SDD one for "C" (windows) and one for data, but it is a simple matter to delete the data partition and expand the C drive.  The data partition does not come with any information stored on it.

The Asus website says that this model has an "Immersive 3D experience with NVIDIA® 3D LightBoost™ technology".  After purchasing this laptop and looking into that very thing, I then realized that the laptop did not come with the 3D glasses.  You will have to buy the glasses separately from the Nvidia website.

Hi, I wanted to ask that does this laptop has a 3D screen and comes with 3D glasses as well? Everywhere I have checked the specs for this laptop ASUS G75VX DS72, the specs mentions 3D availability as well, but here I can't see such thing in the specs. Please respond, thank :)

Funny in actually playing with the laptop right now. ..  3d glasses are NOT included..  But as far as I can tell..  This does have a 3d display..  Assuming you a have a 3d program to run.  There's a nice little 3d demo..  But i have it set to "let 3d application decide".  So.  To answer your question...  Yes there is 3d. No you don't need glasses...  If Youde like more information..
