Pros: Good specs for a laptop, stays cool, good asthetics.

Cons: Laptop failing and ASUS repair is only making things worse.

The battery system failed not 6 months into purchase, I had to send it in for repair and also mentioned that there were permanent bright spots appearing on the screen. It was sent back to me with a new power system that worked and they supposedly changed the screen but the entire right side of the new screen was very fuzzy and distorted, I had to call support again and send it in for repair. they said "system unstable- rebuilt" but when it returned the screen wouldn't even turn on!!
I had to call support for a third time and send it in -again- for repair... I am now three months in to playing this game with ASUS and still don't have a working machine.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS Support Is Awful

Pros: It's a solid computer.

Cons: The support is awful. AC Adapter failed after 5 months and they won't send me another one under warranty since I tossed it away. They wanted me to ship it back ( and pay for shipping). The AC Adapter costs $100. Since I no longer have the broken ac adapter, they won't ship me a new one and told me I have to buy another one. I'm not paying MORE money for something that should work in the first place!

Other Thoughts: I'll never buy another ASUS product again.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected!

Pros: Can handle all of my games at the highest graphic settings and still cool to the touch. Quiet and sleek. I was a bit skeptical about the purchase after reading most reviews, but after having it for about a month now. I am loving it! And yes, and Windows 8 was not a problem.

Cons: -----

Other Thoughts: Will definitely purchase an update when needed.

5 out of 5 eggsfinal update

Pros: design.
cooling capability
hard drive can read and wright 100mb/s

Cons: heavy and bulky
need big bag to carry it with ease
hard drive> while it can R/W at 100mbs still bottle neck the system start up and shut down time

Other Thoughts: this is my 2nd g750jw for the past month. and still this machine is completely awesome.

not to critic other`s reviewer but let me correct some of the issue you are having

concerning about the wireless connectivity issue.
You need to manually reset the battery setting to maximum performance under

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options and then Advance
any of the setting under wireless adapter settings > power saving mode change them to maximum performance.
i got an issue when i unplug this laptop totally slow down the capability of the wireless connectivity from 50mbs plug in to 1 mbs battery mode.

concerning about the track pad. its not that bad.. if you owned a macbook you will be familiar with the size of this trackpad. same size with macbook.

this machine actually last 6 hrs of use under power saving mode watching media. via VLC.

conclusion is at this price range.
this is one of the most decent laptop you can get under $1300

totally recommended to install A solid state drive on this machine so you will experience a 2 sec. boot up time that i wish i got on my rig. -_-

2 out of 5 eggsIt's basically a big kluge

Pros: I bought this laptop for my partner to game on. It actually runs games pretty much like my Alienware desktop, and that's saying something for a device that's (generally) portable.

Cons: It's huge. It's heavy. The trackpad is terrible (ours just doesn't work anymore, but before then it only barely worked). The display gets really bright, but doesn't get very dim. Also, it's got halogen-bright status LEDs that shine regardless of the laptop's state, so you can forget about keeping it where you sleep.

Regarding portability, it's pretty unwieldy. It doesn't fit in most backpacks, and the external power adapter is about the size of an actual brick.

Overall, it just seems like it was designed in a hurry without much regard for usability or longevity.

Other Thoughts: If you want a gaming laptop that you'll actually enjoy using for more than a few months, just get a MacBook Pro and load Windows on it with Boot Camp. $1500/9mo > $3000/24mo.

1 out of 5 eggsI wouldn't recommend this to anyone..

Pros: - Battery life isn't too bad, given the specs of the machine.
- When working properly, quick resume is nice.
- Heat management is decent and I do not cook when it is in my lap as I do with my old Thinkpad T60p
- Best laptop sound I've had, though my other laptops were not meant to be gaming machines.

Cons: - HORRIBLE problems with wireless. Sometimes, it will connect to an access point, sometimes it won't. Sometimes I have to put it in airplane mode or disable and re-enable the wireless and then it works. Access points that used to work, won't connect anymore. Have no issues with other devices connecting to te same access points. Have had issue since Day 1 and support's only suggestion was to update driver. (wasn't an update at the time) When I try to use the laptop on the train, it usually takes 5 to 10 minutes of my 35 minute ride just to get wireless connected.... VERY frustrating.

- Inconsistent resume. Sometimes it takes minutes for it to "come back"

- Inconsistent suspend. Sometimes, it acts like it is in suspend, but it really isn't. Open the laptop a couple hours later and .... dead battery....

- Part of the finish on the back started to wear within 4 weeks of owning. Laptop sits on a desk and goes into a bag once a day, nothing out of the ordinary.

- Since day 1, using IE has been horrible. Will freeze for minutes. Updated IE and same issues. Firefox/Chrome seem to work significantly better.

- Touchpad/Gestures in Windows 8 are BEYOND infuriating as while typing on the keyboard will bring you hand close enough to the touchpad to trigger gestures... Had to disable all of these to make machine usable.

Other Thoughts: I don't know whether to blame the laptop or the use of Windows 8 (and 8.1) for my troubles. I'm strongly considering rebuilding with Windows 7 to see if my luck improves.

With that said, I have a Dell Vostro 1720 running Windows 8 and it performs significantly better than this machine.

Overall very disappointed as I purchased looking for the horsepower to be a desktop replacement and I currently try to avoid using this machine whenever possible.....

5 out of 5 eggsbest in its price range

Pros: Truely a great machine. Some people say the keyboard misses key strokes but i havent had that problem. Super fast laptop and runs all my games at high/ultra at 55fps during load. Keys feel good to type on and buttons are spaced well ( i have large hands) as to not hit the wrong keys. Very solid construction and stays cool very well without an any aftermarket product. The display isnt gloss which is a plus if you are a gamer as there isnt that annoying glare off the backlit keys. The display is super clear. Something i havnt seen said yet is there is almost no extra pre loaded software on it out of the box which saves me a lot of time from removing it all. Well done Asus..... someone got it right finally. I used to only buy Toshiba but i think i have been converted.

Cons: it doesnt come with a case of beer.

Other Thoughts: i ordered a SSD for it as i read that it makes a big improvment. Will have to come back and update this when i get it. But from everything i read go ahead and order your self the SSD and save on the shipping. Also im not too sure how i feel about only being able to access 2 of the 4 memory slots without a lot of tear down. 12GB is enough ram for me now but who knows in a year or two.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but

Pros: fast, reliable, it gives you everything you need for what your paying for.

Cons: Cons it has Windows 8 and there are no drivers to provided to down grade to window 7, also when I ordered this I rushed ordered it and overnight shipping it took 5 days for it to get to me I was not very impressed ditch Fedex and go with UPS.

Other Thoughts: if you don't want to deal with windows 8 and not very techy, this isn't for you, but you if you are just add a bunch of windows 7 skin mods and now I get the best of both

3 out of 5 eggsNot Bad

Pros: Does everything i need it to.

Cons: Occasionally when the screen will go solid green. First I tried rolling back video drivers and the ASUS monitor utility. Then I noticed while I was typing it would flash back and forth. If I tap the metal above the pad it goes back. Just haven’t taken the time to call and get it repaired. I am sure something is loose. Other than that the only problem I have had is the disk drive will randomly stop working.
Hope others have better luck than me.

4 out of 5 eggsan almost perfect gaming machine

Pros: * Looks awesome! Backlit keyboard and overall design is really nice. An attention-getter wherever I go.

* Runs very cool and quiet, even under heavy load (I ran 16 CPU burn-in processes at full throttle for an hour; fan revs up but still very cool and quiet compared to my old dual-core laptop).

* Games run at 1080p resolution at high/ultra settings without a hitch. Skyrim, BioShock, World of Warcraft, Gramd Theft Auto 4 and SA, etc.

* USB 3 transfer speeds are very fast.

* This thing screams with an SSD installed. Video conversion is no longer something I have to wait very long to accomplish.

* Wifi wireless LAN performance is good and stable (although I can only test with an older 802.11g router).

* 1 TB. of storage space provides a ton of room for software and a decent media collection.

* Very easy to upgrade RAM and storage drives.

Cons: * Windows 8. Seriously?? It boots faster. That's the only positive I can say about it. I 'downgraded' to Windows 7 after enabling CSM option in UEFI 'BIOS' options and located the appropriate Windows 7 drivers. (There's entire message forums devoted to the subject; search and you will find).

* Internal keyboard misses keystrokes. Initially I thought it was me, but nope. Look at other reviews and see what I mean. I use an external keyboard anyways so this isn't an issue for me anymore.

* Oversized touchpad is annoying. I see what Asus was going for (gestures, multi-finger swipes, etc.), but it simply interferes with typing. I use an external mouse so this isn't an issue for me anymore.

* No SSD? 5400 RPM hard drive slows the overall speed down.

* No Blu-Ray drive? A laptop of this caliber is well-suited for Blu-Ray movie playback.

* No analog surround sound outputs? Bummer.

* Exterior paint coating peels easily at the corners (so be careful when zipping up in a laptop bag). Smudges very easily which can be an eyesore.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this for over 1 month now and use it daily for hardcore PC gaming and software development. I bought it from a retail store (G750JW 8 GB. model).

Don't hold back on performance - grab a quality high-performance SSD and install it as your boot drive! You won't regret it.

The sound is decent but don't expect anything amazing. There's only one audio output which provides analog stereo 2-channel output and TOSLINK optical 5.1 surround in a single jack. Most PC surround systems use analog surround sound using multi jacks for L, R, MID, etc. I use a 7.1 surround USB headset when gaming instead.

For those experiencing graphical issues, I recommend sticking with the nVidia driver that Asus provides for the laptop. I've read that upgrading the driver to a newer version will cause problems.

The screen is not glossy. It's the non-reflective type, which may initially look "blurred", but in fact it's much sharper and more ideal for gaming. Do your research.

This thing's a beast! Pretty heavy. Invest in a quality carrying bag.
