5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Great build quality and durable.
-Nice keyboard.
-Stable and reliable wireless card
-Perfect size for taking the laptop on the go
-Cheap
-Is able to handle anything basic I through at it.
-Touhescreen(kinda useless imo but nice to have atleast)
-Nice compact powerbrick and connector(i am always having to replace these in my previously owned laptops)
-Have had 0 issues with drivers in linux

Cons: The screen and video/image quality is not the greatest
-Large touchpad can cause a lot of annoying missclicks.
-Battery life is not the greatest(2.5-3.5hours is enough for me)
-Not the quietest
-Don't expect it to handle heavy gaming
-I dont know if the vga port is slightly bent or if its just unconventionally small but I 70% of the cables i have used just will not fit(i have to use cheap thin ones)

Other Thoughts: I love this laptop. I slapped an ssd in this puppy the first day i got it and it perfectly suits my needs. Its been running just as good as the day i got it and I have put this laptop through a lot of abuse.

1 out of 5 eggsI got a bad computer

Pros: Nice computer while the motherboard was functioning properly. Delivered on everything it said it would until the board malfuctioned.
Purchased 12/13/2013. Motherboard is shot: 8/7/2014

Cons: Motherboard is shot. Non of the USBs recognize anything. I have performed every "fix" without success.
ASUS will not honor this machine since I bought it refurbished.

Other Thoughts: I will contact new egg and then write a follow up as to how their customer service responds.

So far, the process would receive an "F"

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize if the USB ports stop working after approximately 8 months of use. If the system was restored to factory settings with the same results, I recommend sending the unit in for service. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# N140834227 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggsNICE LITTLE LAPTOP

Pros: Very Light weight. Nice touch screen. Decent hardware for a small laptop to make it a pretty quick little thing. Great for carrying around for web surfing and email. Runs Microsoft Office well.

Cons: Wish it came with a recovery cd. But you should be able to make one from within windows.

Other Thoughts: My laptop just came with a scratch on the top of the lid. I'll take the $100 off for that little thing.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Compact. Lightweight. reasonably powerful. Ubuntu compatible.

Cons: Touch screen is useless. No way to upgrade memory. Replacing HDD with SSD requires disassembling the base.

Other Thoughts: Laptop shipped with a faulty battery. had send it to Asus for RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome refurbished laptop

Pros: Mine was recieved in perfect condition, no scratches, no dents, everything worked as new. I Checked the windows 8 registration date, it was 7/3/2013, so this laptop was used for 5 months, whoever bought it took good care of it. I choose this asus model because it has the Intel i3 with HD 4000 graphics, 11.3 inch touchscreen, its nice and portable, light. I'll be adding an ssd soon, This is a very good price of $299 for an i3 laptop. nice upgrade from my old slow msi wind netbook (atom cpu)

Cons: no real downside, just know its not a screaming fast computer, asus has faster laptops like this with the i5 etc, also know the screensize is 11.6 inches, and battery life maybe 3-4 hours. for 150+ dollars more you can get 6 gig ram, 14 inch screen and the i5 cpu,

Other Thoughts: I bought the 1 year refurbished warranty, , after thoughts, i probably didn't need it, if the 30 day return would have protected my purchase.
I'm happy with this model. Thank you Newegg.

3 out of 5 eggsIt was okay

Pros: Fast and powerful, just as the spec promised. Very nice computer for the money I paid.

Cons: Faulty touchscreen and poor shipping schedule.

The entire left side of the touchscreen is permanently pressing down at random points, causing the computer to think I'm doing pinching actions. This makes using the Start menu impossible because it keeps zooming in and out, disabling my mouse. I had to go into Device Manager and disable the touchscreen.

As for the shipping issue, I ordered it for Next Day Delivery on Tuesday 11/26 at 6PM. I knew it wouldn't be ready in time for Wednesday, and Thursday was a holiday, so I expected it to ACTUALLY arrive on Friday. Turns out it didn't leave its warehouse until 6PM on Friday. It arrived in my city at 6AM on Saturday, but the delivery people don't deliver packages on the weekend, even though the still do mail.

1 out of 5 eggsEXCELLENT BUT YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF A FEW THINGS

Pros: If you are someone who works for ASUS and reading this just skip this part (it is what you should be telling people) and read my CONS!

Most of the complaints are about the track pad or the wireless. If you go through other laptop reviews a lot of them have something in common... track pad and wireless issues.

The track pads are almost all made by 2 companies but the drivers have to be updated in a backwards way where the track pad company updates the driver but Asus must pay attention and release an updated package. ASUS WILL NOT DO THIS!!! EVER THEY ARE HORRIBLE WITH UPDATES!!! that means Samsung may have better drivers than Asus. In this case the MSI and Samsung version of the drivers is better and work completely fine no issues so use them.

As for the wireless... well this is a lesser expensive card but the wireless issue is easily resolved.

Go into settings>control panel>hardware and sound>power options>change plan settings>change advanced power settings>wireless adapter settings>

Then change the mode on battery from maximum power saving to low power saving. Also make sure that while plugged in is set to maximum performance.

Other than those (2) issues this thing can't be beat for the price.

Cons: Really it deserves 3 stars until this is fixed but I need Asus's attention.

On mine when I boot into Windows sometimes the touchscreen is disable in device manager. You just right click on the one and enable then the other one automatically re-enables itself and the touch screen works again.

Very annoying!

I am a service technician so unless you have an actual known solution for this exact issue believe me when I say I know more about this product than you and yes I have tried restoring the PC and it is fully updated.

Other Thoughts: Their idea of "B" grade condition should be "grade" ours had multiple huge dents on the top metal casing and the trim around the screen does not sit flush it sticks out so either a broken snap or if it is glued in they didn't do a very good job.

I believe this model only exists as a refurbished unit. I am not certain of that but I do not think that they where ever available in this exact configuration from any retail location. So please be aware of that when you purchase it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for the positive comment you have provided with the laptop. The system is perfect for budget-conscious users looking for a best buy unit. The laptop was tested fully with no problem found. To resolve the touchpad issue, please verify if the ATKACPI and touchpad driver are the most current version. Should you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3184134 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great specs for the price, paid 2.7 benjamins with VMO. Immediately stuck an SSD in it and it performs 9/10's of a true ultrabook minus the battery life. With stock hard drive it boots in 25 seconds not bad, but with SSD boots in 5 seconds and shuts down in the same honest Abe.

Cons: Battery life! Even with SSD it has been all over the board depending on use but nowhere near 4 hrs more like 2.5 to 3 depending on use. I suspect they did not replace batteries on refurbs FYI so YMMV depending on it's condition.

5 out of 5 eggsNice mini laptop

Pros: Great laptop, everything you need a small computer for. (Business on the go)

Also, this computer can play most of my video games. (From league to CS:GO)

Worth 300.

Cons: integrated video cards do suck, but its the best they can do for such a small computer.
