3 out of 5 eggsFaulty Key

Pros: - Runs games and applications smoothly
- Large screen is nice for editing/gaming

Cons: -Short battery life

Other Thoughts: I was really excited to receive my very first high performing laptop.
When I got to using my laptop I noticed that when I type the 'D' key was not responding to a lighter touch. I like to type briskly and this was fairly annoying since I had to make it a point to press the key directly in the middle every single time.

I am planning to request a replacement, but other than that I really love it. I can game on it and run heavy editing software.

Would have been a 5 egger here if it weren't for this pesty key.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Computer is designed for Windows 8

Pros: i7 processor if you can use the computer with Windows 7.

Cons: On the contrary of what Daniel K claims there is no driver for Windows 7 for this notebook computer. You can not even use USB3 ports fully functional if you run Windows 7.
I have been using computers since late 70s and never faced such problems like these.
"You are not allowed to install any crucial utilities" on this computer if you run Windows 7. For example, I had to find a very old version of Skpye install it then upgrade it manually in order to use Skpye. I had the same problem with NVIDIA, Avast and many many other utilities.

"This laptop is designed/built for Windows 7. Both Newegg and ASUS hide very important information about this laptop from their customers. Furthermore, you are "forced to use Windows 8.

Also the computer came with dead pixels on the center of its screen and now they are gradually spreading. $900 computer with unresolved software and hardware problems...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize if you are having difficulty running WINDOWS 7 on the laptop. The X750JB was not certified to run WINDOWS 7, please revert to WINDOWS 8 and upgrade free to WINDOWS 8.1. Should you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3702194 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

5 out of 5 eggsI Love It

Pros: The computer is fast to awaken, it doesn't overheat and is easy to use. The battery life is good for a computer this size. The sound is awesome. The graphics card runs 3-D modeling easily.

Cons: You can not expand the ram. It has an internal battery that you can not access easily. Sometimes that HDMI messes up but honestly I have a feeling that is Windows 8.1 not the computer.

Other Thoughts: I bought this computer for the sole purpose that is could run mathematica. It runs it amazingly.

5 out of 5 eggsBeset design for portable and gaming usage

Pros: Great for graphics and gaming. Ran AutoCad Maya 2013 and Adobe InDesign CS6 quite flawlessly. Ran Battlefield 4 ultra high perfectly. Removed stock HDD and added Samsung 512GB SDD with Windows 7 Ultimate No problems with drivers at all. Up the RAM to 16GB. This bad boy boots up in 4 seconds.

Cons: 1. Came with Windows 8...
2. Wish it can do 3D... But this wasn't meant for hardcore gaming.
3. Wish it was a GTX780

Other Thoughts: Dont know what this S.T. guy is doing wrong, but I was able to install all drivers and software without issues on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Function keys and shortcuts works, Sound works, nVidia kicks in to high gear when needed, ASUS touchpad gesture works\

All my C.G.I. editing software works flawlessly.
Of course Windows 8 is not compatible for anything. That is Microsoft issue, not ASUS or Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsFalse Advertisement - Be Aware!

Pros: none

Cons: At this moment we are pursuing a class action suit against both Newegg and ASUS as both of these companies are purposely misleading and misinforming their customers.
As both companies advertise "This Computer Comes With Windows 8"
However, they do not say that Windows 8 is not compatible with many graphic design and CADCAM applications. The worst part is this computer is "DESIGNED FOR WINDOWS" as Newegg and Asus hide this extremely important fact from their customers.
There is no way to use Windows 7 with this computer. Even many simple utilities do not work on Windows 7 with this computer. There are no Windows 7 drivers for USB ports, graphic adapter, network card, bluetooth and card reader. Once you install Windows 7 you can not even reset your computer to factory settings with Windows 8, because Windows 8 is "embedded into hardware" and once you delete your partition to install Windows 7 there is no turning back.
Both Newegg and ASUS have been trying to stop us from filing the class action suit. However, as both of these companies are still violating consumer right they must change their misleading advertisement strategies.
I have been using computers since 1970s and I have never had such nerve-breaking experience like this one with any tech corporation I have worked with.
To sum up I absolutely DO NOT recommend anyone to buy this laptop; or any other items from Newegg and ASUS as these companies do not give the correct information about the products they sell.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I certainly understand your concern regarding issues running WINDOWS 7 with the laptop. The X750JB was only released and certified to run WINDOWS 8. It was not certified to run WINDOWS 7. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3647621 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

1 out of 5 eggsNever with an ASUS again

Pros: none

Cons: The computer is specifically "designed for" Windows 8 which is the worst operating system ever been designed by Microsoft. You have to delete/wipe off the partition in order to install Windows 7. Once you install it you will have so many compatibility issues. There are no usb, video drivers, chipset and card reader driver for Windows 7. As I said in the beginning of my review this computer is really designed for Windows 8 and you are forced to use a non-operable operating system. I also have a big dead pixel right in the middle of my screen. I contacted Newegg and they told me that I can not return the product because I purchased 35 days a go! This is really outrageous. You pay almost $900 for a useless product. I needed a powerful computer for my professional needs from video editing to photo manipulation but I can not do anything with this computer right now. Many applications are not compatible with Windows 8 and you are "forced to use Windows 8" when you purchase this laptop. I am running Windows 7 without usb and other drivers. I am extremely upset about my overall experience with both Newegg and ASUS.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize if you were dissatisfied with the laptop due to WINDOWS 8 stability issue. On the contrary, there are lots of very satisfied customers that are having positive experience using the product once the OS was upgraded to WINDOWS 8.1. ASUS provide warranty for the product. If you need further assistance with the dead pixels, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3637696 on the subject line.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

1 out of 5 eggsbuyers remorse

Pros: great specs for the money

Cons: HDD failing after 4 months
HDMI audio inconsistent, have to use laptop as sound
dedicated graphics rarely active, onboard graphics primarily used
no drive / memory access door on bottom of laptop
need to remove motherboard to access second hard drive
no installation media available, not even for purchase from asus
windows 8, metro screen, enough said

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I'm glad to know that you like the great specification of the product. I apologize if the hardrive failed after 4 months, which is an isolated case. Asus provides warranty for failed hardware. If you need further assistance, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and write down service# 3538061 on the subject line.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Great overall Laptop. Cool to touch, solid parts.

Cons: Flemsy screen. Feels like it could be broken with a small touch.

Missing two keys on the keyboard.

Other Thoughts: I am missing the "Home" and the "Page Up" key. Thought. No biggy, I'll just call newegg. Nope. Have to send it in and have a new laptop shipped to me. This is a work laptop and not worth the hassle for 2 keys. After that I called Asus to see if I could just order the two keys. Again. Nope. Asus wants me to ship it to them and have them do a full keyboard replacement. To top that off, ASUS was going to charge me!!
