Did the updated wireless driver fix the dropped connection issue?

Updated drivers didn't help mine.  I like everything about this laptop except it's wireless range which is terrible.

I have this and 2 other laptops sitting side by side.  This is the only one that wouldn't connect at all.  Other laptops connect great.

I replaced the adapter with an Intel 7260 AC ($25) which helped, but only have minimal connection at 20ft away.  I've ordered an AC router to see if I can make it work well enough to use daily without being wired.

What is the warranty on this item and does it come with a backlit keyboard? Thanks.

I purchased a refurbished one. The warranty was 90 days,but an extended warranty was available at time of purchase.

The keyboard is not backlit.

Hi, just bought this here from Newegg and wondering if this can fit a regular 9.5mm height drive or does it have to be a 7mm?

I'm not sure a 9.5mm drive would work. The stock hard drive was a Seagate Momentus Slim 500GB 5400rpm drive (7mm). The mounting bracket fits around the outside and screws into the sides of the drive. I replaced with a 7mm SSD. The extra 24GB SSD appears to be a chip sized add-on board. Once I swapped out the main hard drive with an SSD the Intel ready boost that used the 4GB of the 24BG SSD was no longer being used... it reported no benefit could be gained from the ready boost technology and was disabled. I repartitioned the entire 24GB SSD to be used fully as a spare drive. Additionally, everything on my refurb Asus seems to be working fine. Upgraded it to Win 8.1. The Wi-Fi connects at 72.2Mbps using the latest drivers. So far so good on reception.

Looks exactly the same. Specs / hardware appear to be the same. Exterior ports are the same. OS and features seem to be the same. Hmm...just a problem with the price (it's a little cheaper)!

The condition of my unit looks brand new. I did not see any scratch. I am not sure why it is categorized as refurbished maybe because the CPU is last generation i3.

does this ASUS include the a keyboard apart from the tablet?

It's not a detachable tablet. It has a touch screen, but you cannot detach it like some other laptops. It is just the traditional notebook set-up with a touch screen.

8GB max (4GB is on-board) one open slot. I've already replaced the Wifi adapter with an Intel one because the one that comes with the laptop is terrible. Range was no good and had trouble connecting to different AP & routers.
