1 out of 5 eggsWas a horrible investment

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Very good computer for gaming graphics and running wise

Cons: Has a horrible network card, I have 100 mb/s connection and it drops out the connection while the other house members have fine connections. Even the ethernet port doesn't work properly, overall a junk card. 3 months after I got it there was a disconnected cord inside the laptop that made the screen go black when tilted and messed up a lot of the graphics, again a junk.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP OR ANY ASUS PRODUCT. I was looking things up everywhere and they have so many problems, i wish I did this before I bought this junk laptop but now I am stuck with it. Not to mention after I sent it in to get fixed at their location THEY SENT IT BACK WITH A DEAD BATTERY. Overall a junky company and my worst purchase I have ever made in my life.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsHappy with purchase, powerful!

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Excellent build, solid computer, minimal bloatware. I've purchased many ASUS products, and this is a very nice machine. Note, when running graphically intensive games the fans run pretty load. Runs Dragon Age Inquisition at High/Very High graphics with not slowdown. I use it for photo editing mainly, runs Photoshop very quickly and efficiently. USB 3.0 is wicked fast for d/l pictures off memory card.

Cons: Loud cooling fans. Also, when running games on battery, it doesn't last well. Dragon Age Inquisition took 14% of battery power in 5 minutes on a fully charged battery. It also seemed to have a lower frame rate than when plugged in. Case is a non-slip material (rubber?) that collects dust. Would have preferred brushed aluminum, but really that's a minor quibble. Trackpad is adequate, but for anything other than word documents I use a usb mouse.

Other Thoughts: This beast is heavy and large. But it's very nice and will last for years.

1 out of 5 eggsdied on me...

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Awesome gaming laptop loved it.

Cons: Had it about 6 months and the motherboard or power supply took a digger. Waiting to see if it's covered under warranty.

Other Thoughts: Why?

1 out of 5 eggsWorst purchase I have ever made

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: When the computer is actually working, it runs games well on its main display.

Cons: I first purchased this computer back in March of 2014. Quickly after I received it I had to return it for a replacement due to broken speakers. A couple months after receiving the replacement, the screen is flickering and the whole operating system seems to be corrupted. This was before I had downloaded really anything onto the computer. Now it has been after 30 days so Newegg will no longer hand me a refund so I have to resort to using the Asus warranty. I get the refurbished computer back and things seem to working fine, 4 months later the screen goes black and now I am sending the computer to Asus for a second time.

Six months of having this computer and I have had to send it back 3 times. And I payed 2500$ for it!!!!!!!!!

I used this computer for school work and some light gaming on the side, it is not intensively used in anyway, yet it can't handle this minor usage without breaking.

I feel as if I have been robbed 2500$ and there really is nothing I can do about it. All I know is that I will NEVER even think about purchasing an Asus product ever again. I decided to just purchase a Macbook for schoolwork and accept the fact that I have loss that money.

DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER

Other Thoughts: It's also unbelievably heavy but that is expected.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections in the service center before being sent out to customers, this is an isolated case. 1 out of 5 eggsExtremely disappointed and frustrated

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: none yet as I cannot use the computer as it was shipped with European parts to be used in the USA by an American consumer??!

Cons: I purchased this computer 11/15/14 from my local Best Buy in USA for use in USA only to be shipped computer with European parts rendering unusable. ASUS support is extremely difficult to reach and I finally got someone in their Jamaica call center who said ASUS would send me out the correct USA AC/DC Adapter and US AC cord and that they would incur the costs and expedite shipping, BUT I first had to complete their RMA form and fax/email it to their center in California - the form asks for signatures all over it saying that you agree to pay processing and shipping fees and return shipping fees etc. - but the ASUS support guy said that he has everything in a letter attached to the RMA explaining they will take care of everything for me and that's what they'll read??!! Several days later and still no response from ASUS. I tried calling the California phone number on the RMA form only to be disconnected 3 times, and on the fourth time I got someone who took my name and number and said they would have to call me back - over 24hours and no phone call back. I went to ASUS north american customer center and entered the RMA number (supposed to be processed within 2 days) and it can't find my RMA. Called ASUS support again. They can't help as their computers are down all day and they need to access the info in the computers to help me. They promised to call me back if and when their computers were fixed, but still no call from ASUS. Makes you wonder about a computer company that can't keep their own computers up and running and is so difficult to reach for support and still hasn't resolved this issue! Why would you ship European parts to an American consumer in the first place??!! For a $2500 new computer purchase I expect more. If they can't even get me the parts that were supposed to come with my computer originally, what kind of support can I expect in the future if their are real problems with the computer when, if ever, I can actually turn it on??!!! Oh and did I mention that my ASUS warranty started the date I purchased it; even though I've yet to be able to use it!! This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing! I need the computer to read patient studies on, and I may have to return it if I don't get any response/solution soon, and my next computer will NOT be an ASUS then!

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsFirst week

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: It works (I just had to return an MSI laptop that failed my first day). Sorry, I don't really have anything to say here. It is good, but for the price, and the specs, it BETTER be good. My biggest concern is that it will last years and years. I bought a cooler pad to run it on, so I expect that to help. Keys feel good, screen seems good (I almost always use it plugged into a 42" TV through the HDMI, so that's not really fair, but the HDMI has worked without issue), yes, it's heavy, but I knew that buying it, so that's not a negative (I don't like it when people mark something as negative when they knew it before buying it). I hope in a year I can give another great rating.

Cons: It's only been a week, but I don't yet have any cons. It's performed as advertised.

Other Thoughts: Please work for years and years with no issues. Please work for years and years with no issues, ha ha. I shelled out a lot of money (which is sparse for me) and bought something good here in the US because I am returning to teach English in China for a few more years, and I'm hoping this will carry me through in style! You may think electronics are less expensive in China, but after living there for two years, I am here to tell you they are not! Much more expensive there. I don't understand it, but that's the way it is.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from Asus

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Purchased this laptop 7/16/14 it was great it could churn through video files and all the latest games.
It lasted 2 months before motherboard died while an excel spreadsheet was open LOL

Cons: Subwoofer and reading that everyone had problems with it I decided to live with it. Big mistake. Two months into it and it turns off and motherboard is bad. Asus tried to fix it but returned it without correctly configuring it. Also damaged it in some areas like the lid and back and sadly too many thinks didn't look right. It was sent back and know its worse.
This G750JZ lasted the whole of 2 months and now its been to Asus 2 times and 6 weeks later still no computer. This one deserves no eggs. While I am sure plenty of these are out there running just fine I would be leery to depend on Asus to stand behind their warranty. Still waiting no for their escalation dept. to get back with me.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from Asus, they would not stand by an express and implied warranty. Why would someone pay this kind of money and when it fails wait for so long for repairs to happen and to top it off it comes back damaged and scratched and broken. I thought Asus was going to be quality but turns out maybe I just got a lemon. Thanks Asus

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Laptop

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Fast Gaming Laptop with decent sized SSD, large Hitachi hard drive, Intel Core I7 Quad CPU and 24GB fast memory make this a hard system to beat. Dedicated GeForce 880M Graphics Card maximizes CPU performance and 1080P Screen makes for vivid, detailed display. Quality Construction is visible and obvious throughout. The laptop is visually pleasing in appearance as well as being highly functional.

Cons: All the pro's come with a price, i.e. it weights nearly 10 lbs. Few cases are available that it fits into and which afford some protection for this investment. The SSD is shipped in a multi-partition configuration for some inexplicable reason but this is not a significant detractor.

Other Thoughts: Good news: Everki is increasing the laptop pouch of its Titan Backpack to accommodate large gaming laptops (November 2014 availability date). The Targus XL is a good interim fit though padding is thin. Currently, the other available cases suffer from lower quality with early zipper failures, seams pulling apart and handles/straps breaking due to the weight of the laptop and accessories.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: Well worth it. Plays Planetside 2 pretty well with the 4700hq. Handles any other game I throw at it with ease.

Cons: Replaced mechanical drive with Samsung evo 1t ssd hdd. Not a big issue just didn't want to pay for asus's bigger ssd drive so I just got mine with the 256g ssd from factory with o/s on it and all the goodies. Use the bigger ssd to record my game play sometimes and store games. I do not add or remove alot of files. Simply just a few of my games and that's it.

Other Thoughts: You kinda have to fiddle with the laptop with all the settings to find it's turbo mode for cpu. It's under Hybrid power. It will enable the 3.4 boost on the i7. I've had it for a few months and just now realized I was gaming at stock cpu clocks. Not a big deal the rig still performs very well. Priced an alienware laptop with a lower end gear and was about 1k$ more than this. Honestly this or the msi is the best bang for the buck. Saw the Razor and didn't like the thin profile, I wanted something with raw power and cooling. As is with the Asus boost for the cpu/gpu, the cooling is well under control.

5 out of 5 eggsAwaken the Beast!

This review is from: ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JZ-DS71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880M 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Pros: This Beast is super fast, with two 128GB SanDisk mSSD in RAID 0, and the Intel Core i7 4700HQ, what more can you ask for?
The amazingly fast NVidia GeForce GTX 880M flagship card on board, it destroys all games on ultra setting.

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: I been playing all my games on "Ultra Setting", and on average been hitting 60 fps, or higher.
The Intel Core i7 4700HQ, in combo with the 2 SanDisk 128GB mSDD drives in RAID 0 makes the Gaming Laptop unbeatable!!!!
