is everyone having issue with the keyboard or is it me only?

Not the keyboard, but the touchpad. It was just failing randomly, sometime intermittently, sometimes completely. It could be related.

You might want to try going to Asus' site and downloading ATK. Completely uninstall ATK (on programs) then reinstall it fresh with the new install. (I also completely uninstalled smart gesture before, then reinstalled it _after_ ATK, but that relates to the touchpad rather than the keyboard).

It seemed that ATK was doing weird stuff with the input device drivers. I have no idea if this will help you in your case, but it might be worth a shot.

Is the keyboard on this machine backlit?

Nope, no back lights. Keys are ok, nothing great tho. Touchpad is a tad large and i tend to hit it accidently using the ol' wsad. Recommend using an external keyboard/pad for serious stuff.

It has a nice hires display 1920 x 1080. Worth the upgrade. I have another that is only 768. Not great for a lot of things other people than the basics

Cpu and gou are very good, PCmark gives it 3000 points in basic home test. Gpu can run Tomb Rider on ultinate settings. Hard drive is patheticly slow, once replaced with ssd this machine will work like charm. Apple sells Macbooks with i5 & ssd for good reason.

No, it doesn't have touch screen but that was not something that I needed or wanted.  I really love this computer, but if you are looking for that feature, this machine isn't the one for you.

My laptop and battery are 6months old now.
When I watch a hd movie online without the charger plugged, it will drain it to 10% in about 2hrs.

Yes, I run this laptop with no problems when it comes to DirectX10. I hear Windows 10 will be much more stable and run better with games. I wouldn't give no doubts that you will have issues with it, besides Windows 8 compatibility issues with some older games.

How hot does this get?

When Idol, I am getting about 35-45 degrees C for the CPU temp. If I stress test the CPU(100% load constantly) I sit at about 80-85 degrees which is well within the parameters of the CPU chip. Obviously you never will be at 100% for an extended amount of time. When playing games, I sit at around 55-65 degrees depending on the game. This is pretty normal for laptops and they usually run hotter than desktop computers.

Can this laptop run smoothly on games such as DOTA 2 on medium video settings?

Yes, it Will run dota 2 perfectly fine, it can get easily 60fps or more on médium full HD, i have been playing far cry 4 on it and it runs pretty good (not in high of course), but considering this is a laptop, is the Best value for the money you Will pay
