4 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for what I paid

Pros: Great laptop! Runs every game you want, no issue whatsoever! Stays cool, and runs for HOURS without break.

Cons: The major con for me, is the plugin slot for the charger falls out ALL OF THE TIME. It was infuriating! Other than that, no problems at all if not a little loud! The speakers are a tad quiet, but that is a laptop for you

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Gaming

Pros: - 0 problems whatsoever running all new games on high to ultra settings
- Purchased while it was $400 off, best value of any other gaming laptop
- Gigabyte's software is very useful for keeping everything up to date
- Stays very cool while multiple programs are running (if on a desk)
- Insanely fast start-up time
- It sounds like a beast when the fan are running :) (probably a con to most people)
- Best purchase I've made as far as laptops go

Cons: - Fans are loud I'll admit it, when they run at max (I wear a headset 95% of the time so it doesn't bother me anyway) They don't run at max that often even when gaming on Ultra.
- Fans in back can get hot if using on your lap, think of the fans in the back as two airplane engines touching your legs...but you can expect that from any laptop. The bottom of the laptop actually stays very cool.

Other Thoughts: I was cautious buying a Gigabyte computer because I've never owned one, but you can't beat the price compared to competitors. It's a solid laptop for any gamer. I have had no problems at all and I'm very critical of my computers. I've purchased probably 5-6 laptops over the past 10 years and I can tell this one is going to last me a long time.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: Price - Try configuring another brand for this price....

GTX880M - Will play any game that you throw at it. I can run Alien: Isolation at 1920x1080 @ ultra settings with no problem.

4810MQ - Plenty of power for any computing you plan on doing.

Screen - FullHD is beautiful and responsive. The backlight is mostly even, there is a little bleeding on the edges due to bezel being too tight. I read another review stating this could be remedied with credit card pieces. It doesn't bother enough to void the warranty over.

Storage Options - 1 HDD bay with 2 mSata slots. I added a 240GB mSata to dual boot Win7 & 8.

Chassis - Just the right size. It is hefty like all gaming laptops but lighter than my previous the Gateway tablet PC this replaced.

Cons: Yellow - not a huge fan of the yellow. I like that its different, but it sure does have a wow factor when i show others.

Lack of BluRay - solved by purchasing a slimline bluray burner from the EGG.

Other Thoughts: Touchpad - I like the feel and usability of touchpad, I chose this laptop due to fact that it has an actual button for mouse clicks. The centered on laptop (off-centered from space bar) works great for gaming but not as well for typing. I solved this by cranking up palm check sensitivity. Just have to deal with the lag of palm check timeouts....

RAID - who would have thought RAID in a laptop...You can configure the mSata ports to RAID0. Not necessary but it is possible.

Noise - It can get noisy when playing a game but rarely has it decided to run at full fan. Full Fan is loud enough to concern my cat, but doesn't really seem louder than a desktop running a game. I don't have experience with other laptops of this caliber but I do know that the P35's are supposed to louder, which is expected due to the much thinner case. The Smart Manager app provides a silent mode which is sufficient enough to due normal tasks with little to no noise.

Speakers - They seem adequate enough for a laptop. Not much bass from the "subwoofer", but seriously a 1" sub isn't going to blow you away.

Very good gaming laptop for the money. Can't go wrong with Gigabyte

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Laptop

Pros: Extreme value for such an amazing laptop. Comparative laptops with this hardware are much more expensive. Graphics are great, this thing can run any game you throw at with ease. Screen looks very nice and has great color detail. Backlit keyboard is cool and useful at nice. Keys are nice and poppy and are spaced nicely. Has a nice weight to it, not too heavy. Doesn't come with much junk on it. Very fast, having the SSD is awesome.

Cons: The edge of the keyboard where my left hand rests sometimes when I am not typing feels a little sharp, sometimes it can get a little uncomfortable. Only 2 usb ports. The power cord on mine fits snug, but if it barely comes out at all, it stops charging. Fan can be a little loud when playing games. They pump you up for the sound system on this thing, but it stinks, nothing special anyway. But most laptops have poor sound and I use a headset whenever I want better sound, so no biggy for me. System only has 8gigs of ram, but you know that going in, and its easy to upgrade.

Other Thoughts: Overall, great great GREAT value. The card in this laptop is the third best nvidia card available at the moment, and it just now got beat by two new cards this month (oct 2014). I love typing on this thing. The HD 1080p looks amazing. Getting this means I can play most games for the next couple years at high graphics. None of the cons keeps this laptop from getting five eggs from me, stoked to be an owner of such a mean machine.

4 out of 5 eggsSuper Fast

Pros: Really fast, I mean really fast. I mostly do drawing using Sketchup and renders with Arielvision and this thing is fast.
Runs Crisis 3 great. I like the backlit keyboard and the keys are nice with a nice feel to them.

Cons: As much as I want to like this laptop because its so fast, the touchpad is not good. I mostly use my mouse but I do need to use the touchpad some and it freezes up a lot. I have an Asus and Alienware and the touchpad works right. I am still trying to learn what causes the freezes on this thing. I am assuming they cut some corners on the case to get the price low and that's why the touchpad is goofy. You would think that for laptop design they would make sure it worked properly but they dropped the ball on this.

Other Thoughts: I would still buy this laptop even with the touchpad issues. It is a great deal.

5 out of 5 eggsSleeper

Pros: Thinnest/Lightest GTX 880M unit I have found. It doesn't have that "fat" look to it like the other 880M machines, and it weighs about 6.5lbs. Don't know how they did it.

Thinner/lighter usually comes at a steeper price, but not the case here. Cheapest brand new 880M machine I came across in weeks of researching.

Has everything I wanted in a gaming notebook, top-tier GPU, great CPU, 128GB mSATA SSD boot drive, adequate ram, a matte IPS screen, and a fairly large battery.

Throw all that together, and you have a pretty beastly system. Boots up in about 15-20 seconds, runs any game you throw at it on high, has surprisingly good non-gaming battery life, and has a quality cooling system.

Cons: The speakers are just plain bad, and the sad part is, Gigabyte actually advertises them as one of the great "features" of this notebook on their website. I guess they have to cut costs somewhere.

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind, there's a more premium(expensive) model of this unit, with 2 SSDs in RAID, a bluray drive, and 16GB of ram. If you feel you need those extra specs, look that one up.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Performance & Quality

Pros: Performance - Performance - Performance. This puppy's CPU is just a touch faster than a desktop i7-3770 which is amazing. The 880M is also the fastest GPU currently available for a laptop and it runs flawlessly. The Nvidia Optimus which allows users to pick which GPU will run is also a wonderful idea that works flawlessly. For instance, if I am plugged into a wall I can pick the Nvidia GTX 880M to play my games, but if I am on battery power and want to conserve power then I can pick the embedded Intel HD4600 to push the game. This is really useful. When I go on battery and my son wants to play minecraft, I can have him pick the HD4600 to run the game and it doesn't kill my battery immediately. The design of the chassis (besides one part I'll mention under Cons) is also awesome. It is a very small chassis for the the power that it has inside compared to other manufacturers. It is very slim and can easily be toted around without a huge backpack without looking silly. The chassis seems very solid except for a slight squeaking noise every once and a while due to some of the plastics. The lighted keyboard is very nice and high quality, although I do like Lenovo red lighted keyboards better. The matte display is perfect for me, I prefer matte. This is normally a personal choice. The yellow cover is fine by me, it gives the laptop a slightly different look then others and lets people know it means business without being too flashy like some that have LEDs and vents everywhere. The touchpad is very accurate and well made, although I always use a mouse. The cooling system is very efficient and the layout of the internals is easily upgraded. I bought another 8GB SO DIMM for the laptop to make 16GBs and it was super easy to get to and install. The HDD and the mSATA drives are also easily accessible, so it is really an upgraders laptop. Overall an awesome purchase and should last well into the future. Gigabyte has included some decent software that runs some of the functioning of the laptop and they don't have any bloatware at all, NONE...thank you Gigabyte!

Cons: Ok, this laptop is not perfect as there are a few flaws, I will list them below:
* The chassis, while solidly built, doesn't seem to want to sit snugly on a flat surface. It doesn't wobble or anything, but it can rotate quite easily because of a lack of a few rubber feet in good locations on the bottom. The battery and its built-in vents picks up the chassis off of some of the rubber feet. This is more of an annoyance than anything else.
* The lighted keyboard is nice, but I don't love that light can be seen from underneath the keys. I like the Lenovo style of lighting better where the light is shown through the sides of the keys, not from underneath. High quality light and feel on the keyboard, but lighting could be just a bit better.
* A lot of the surfaces (besides the yellow) are fingerprint magnets. Just a FYI
* The laptop has an optical drive and while that is fine, I would have preferred to not have one of those and have more USB connections and such. Optical drives are just not needed like they used to be, although this isn't truly a negative.
* Now on to the second biggest negative with this laptop. All the connections and such are on the side of the laptop. I would very much prefer all connections such as USB, audio, Ethernet and HDMI connections to come from the back of the device. This is not a deal-breaker, but I really don't like everything to be connected from the sides. The way the battery is designed, it forced Gigabyte to have all the connections on the side.
* OK, DEAL BREAKER --- Maybe??? This is a personal preference thing, but for my use, it is almost a deal breaker if the laptop wasn't so great at everything else. The internal speakers are one step away from being terrible! I love to have a full sounding laptop because I don't use a headset all of the time. These speakers are advertised as being great if you look at Gigabyte's materials, well they aren't. Yes, there are several speakers (5) and a sub, but they are sub-par. My HTC One (M8) SMARTPHONE has twice the volume and better clarity to boot. This is definitely the weakest link for this laptop IMHO. Plan on using attached speakers or a Bluetooth speaker if you want any real volume and sound. Again, close to being a deal-breaker for me as my previous MSI gaming laptop had much better speakers. Gigabyte - Fix this ONE little thing and you'll have a home-run!

Other Thoughts: I think Gigabyte has an excellent product on their hands here. When you combine the sheer performance with the price, you can't go wrong. There are many laptops out there that you'd pay $100s more for but don't have the performance of this unit.
The chassis is a pleasant departure from those HUGE chassis that are considered gaming laptops. The chassis and everything about this laptop oozes quality.
Speakers - Speakers - Speakers, this is the only almost terrible thing with this unit. I am currently surviving without great internal speakers, but for the quality of everything else, this is definitely a disappointment. That is the only reason the unit didn't get 5 eggs.
