3 out of 5 eggsHoping for the best..

Pros: Price, size and quality of screen.

Cons: Mine had issues out of the box....

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for my wife for christmas to free her from her 4 year old desktop pc.
I loaded XP on it asap and made sure all the drivers were up to date. Whenever the pc was off for any real period of time, it would blue screen on boot and take several attempts to get windows to load. If and when XP did boot, "corrupt registry" and other such nasty messages would apprear. Everex told me I need to put Vista back on it. I did and it would bluescreen coming out of powersave mode. Made a memtest bootable cd and it would crash less than 10 seconds into it every time.
Called Everex and they were very courteous and helpfull and I really didn't need to "fight" my case. I am awaiting it's return now and hopefully it will be ok.
Kind of a bummer since it was my wifes xmas present.
I am trying to be optimistic.....

5 out of 5 eggsAesome Laptop for the Price

Pros: The Everex Laptop is powerful and simple nothing came on the computer that I didn't want. Some companies install a whole bunch of software that you don't need or want. Buying Intel Dual core laptop for $500 is a great price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The laptop might not have all those flashy lights like some laptops do but you don't need those features anyways they just drain the battery more.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Already familiar with Everex's fine quality, there was no hesitancy in my recommending this Notebook to a friend with very
little computer savvy. Of course he purchased it from Newegg!

He brought it to me to setup, and there was little to do other than install Firefox, Thunderbird, and AVG.

This was done after uninstalling the odorous Norton garbage that was preloaded.

Everything works smoothly and effortless, including wireless network acquisition.

Quality workmanship, beautiful display, top notch keyboard, and ease of operation make this Notebook a STEAL at the offered price.

Cons: None so far!

Other Thoughts: Very quiet with low heat.

5 out of 5 eggs24 hour customer support line!

Pros: The most impressive thing to me about this laptop is the 24 hour, toll free technical support line. I just called and got a real person, Saturday at 10:22 PM! And it wasn't a representative from overseas. The gentleman was very nice and very helpful.

Cons: The speaker could be better. I have a very hard time hearing sounds coming out of this speaker, even in a silent room at 2 in the morning.

Other Thoughts: I give this Everex laptop 5 eggs because it's absolutely perfect for its price. It is very slow, but it is running Vista after all. It took a very long time to install the updates for Vista. I have no problem with the internet connection--it never loses connection, as reported by others. It was very easy to get it up and running. It's very slim--the design is very nice. I really like the soft feel of the keys too. I would buy this for everyone I know if I had the money.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The cost for a new, not a refurbished laptop. No problem. worked out the box. Fast delivery, as usual from NE.

Cons: Only gives the choice of Vista, OS. Wish it had XP. Some of my older programs wouldn't work, (not Vista compatiable). Ordered at same time another 1GB of ram, after seeing reviews.

Other Thoughts: About $20 more for 1GB of memory, not too bad. I basically wanted a laptop, to look at, and store my AVCHD videos, photos, charge my MP3 player, and burn on DVD/CD media internally, when I travel; and it does all that.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Lighweight, quiet, runs cool. Screen is VERY clear and nice.

Cons: Does not have a PCMCIA slot. Only 1 speaker and volume is pretty low even on full volume. Comes with vista

Other Thoughts: I read where everyone was having wireless issues. I kept vista on for about 1 day as it seemed to be running fine but once teh wireless was connected for about 2 horus it dropped like mad. with Vista I used wired and was fine. Switched to XP and wireless works fine so there is a problem with vista and the wireless in this laptop. Would have been nice to have a pcmcia port

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: run vista ok another gig would be good.Be aware of what your buying this is a no frill lap top mono sound meaning one speaker and its all intergrated even the dvd burner. Its not lighting fast but its neither slow.It has a via chip set so its not going to be mega fast no matter what the cpu is.I installed xp on it so its stable and works with everything my customer needs and wants. Its a plain jane pc and i like it and i like the price.

Cons: wish they had put xp in it.But this is the times of vista like it or not.Oh one other thing no card reader on it or pci slots for extra add on.not really a con but make sure you know it.

Other Thoughts: all xp drivers are on the site no looking for them go to the home page and get the drivers its just that simple.I like it customer liked it.We are all happy campers.XP runs great fast no lag just easy as pie.Getting my daughter one for xmas hope they stay this cheap!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsVery good value for the price

Pros: Relatively hi-res display: all budget laptops seem to have 1280x800, but this one has 1440x900, which helps a lot for development work. Also, its website has good drivers for Win2k3, which I use for development. Its video chip may be anemic, but even when reducing the aperture to 32MB it does a good job at driving dual displays (the built in one and a 1600x1200 external one). In Balanced power mode when not doing CPU intensive tasks, it is pretty quiet, the fan is only on (audibly) about 15% of the time.

Cons: Not sure why, but when I put a 667MHz 1 GB stick which works fine in another laptop, it only recognized 512MB. Technical support says that the laptop only supports 533MHz RAM, but I don't buy that because a 512 MB 667MHz stick is fully recognized. Anyway, I don't really need 2 GB, so I will leave it at 1.5GB for now. No PC card slot, but at least that makes it thinner and lighter. One note about RAM upgrades: there is a hidden screw under the warranty sticker, and you need to call technical support to let them know that you are adding RAM so that they keep the warranty valid

Other Thoughts: For this price you can't expect a high-end machine, and I haven't run into issues so far (aside from the minor annoyance with the RAM upgrade). The mono speaker is loud enough for me, and I haven't seen any wireless issues in either win2k3 or Vista (after Windows update updated the drivers). But for $xxx, I can't complain.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Light-weight, good features, decent price. a good bang for your buck, especially since it's a laptop

Cons: It seems very flimsy. the casing doesn't seem very sturdy, but what else can you expect for the price

Other Thoughts: The first thing I did was remove Vista from this laptop, install xp and hunt down the drivers. Pls note that vista is still very new and even xp did'nt jump off until much later; 2000 and win 98 was the preferred os. In my opinon, the hardware available now is not ready for vista just as the hardware available then was not ready for xp; long and short, as stingy as i am with ratings, this is a very good steal. and as always, NEW EGG ROCKS!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Excellent value. You can't get a dual core with 1 GB of ram anywhere for this price. And it's a single stick, not two 512 sticks. Vista runs fairly well with Aero turned off. Also runs a number of older games fairly decent too, like HalfLife2 and Doom3. Whisper quiet and doesn't get too hot. 2 1/2 hour battery life is enough to watch some of the longest movies.

Cons: Wireless adapter is extremely shoddy. Dunno if it's Vista or what. It was downright awful right out of the box, disconnecting every 5-10 minutes. Even after multiple updates, after I turned off the power saving feature, it still manages to somehow disconnect on its own after a couple of hours of use. Awful, barely audible, mono speaker, get some headphones. And it's locked up once on me too.

Other Thoughts: Anyway, I was actually looking for a small portable laptop, but I simply couldn't pass up this deal. I'm gonna see how Vista is after I buy another 1 gig stick, then I'll put XP on it.
