5 out of 5 eggsA fantastic laptop!

Pros: This thing a laptop that if I could give an award I would. First of all, the thing that stands out the most on boot up is the sound, it's rich and clear with deep bass. The sound turned up all the way is loud enough to get noise complaints in my studio apartment. The short cut keys are pretty handy with one to throttle cpu speed for battery life. Xp drivers were easy to find and I'm running it with 2gb ram, two 160gb 7200rpm hitachi hard drives raid 0 and it flies! Tempted to go to windows 7 to see my score but Xp is too good. The fan blows out a lot of air and the screen has great viewing angles

Cons: Graphics card heat. The thing that annoys me the most, when I first took it apart I was astounded at how the gpu is cooled passively, so I used a dremel to make a good vent in the plastic and a good laptop cooler really dropped temps. Also when I redid the thermal paste they use thermal pads for everything and the factory plastic was over the pad! The keyboard is layed out pretty stupidly but you get used to it. Battery life is usually an hour which isn't very helpful and the screen is a measly 1440x900 resolution.

Other Thoughts: This i a sleek laptop though now a days I'm finding it harder to play games. The gpu is unfortunately soldered in the board so there isn't much I an do but it's done well. Also the sleek aluminum is a nice touch

5 out of 5 eggsSimply amazing

Pros: This laptop has been amazing. I've had it for almost 4 years now (!) and it's been incredible. I used it for gaming for over 2.5 years on a regular basis and never once did it over heat and crash. I love this laptop and despite the low CPU speed (compared to a modern CPU anyway), the machine runs games and other programs very well. I upgraded it to 2GB of RAM and I added a second 100GB hard drive (7200 RPM instead of 5400). I'm currently writing this on my XT5000T right now. Simply a wonderful machine that has never given me any serious problems.

Cons: The ONLY con on this machine is that the DVD drive has never worked correctly. Initially it just couldn't burn DVDs very well, which was fine because the CD burning worked and it played DVD movies no problem. Then it began to not recognize DVDs, but it could still burn and play CDs. Now it has trouble recognizing any disk inserted, but after almost 4 years of running, I can't say that I'm mad about it.

Other Thoughts: This laptop was a great buy, even at $800 at the time of purchase. Now it seems pretty bad by comparison to modern laptops, but who cares? A dedicated GPU, a dual-core CPU and a BEAUTIFUL 17" screen? I couldn't ask for a better machine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for the price

Pros: My first though was that it had Vista on it and I am more likely an XP guy. But that did not stop me for buying after reading all the reviews here. I never heard of the EVEREX brand so I did my research. So far the laptop has been more than great, I usually leave it 24/7 on and hooked into internet. Play BF2 online before installing the extra 1GB stick combo that I purchase with it... I little laggy in some areas of the game but manage to play 'alright' - Added the extra 1Gb today and works flawless. You also have an extra slot for a Hard drive. Great Sound + I have it plug with my Logitech Z-2300 speakers. Overall is the cheapest and great laptop out there.

Cons: I don't want to sound like a broken record but everyone is concern with the Vista OS and the 1GB ram that only has, Do yourself I a favor and add another stick right before purchase because Vista is RAM eater. Otherwise system is great and worth every penny. Fans blows out very hot air... which is practically a good thing. They keyboard is not as bad as you might think, just get use to it...

Other Thoughts: I haven't got the chance to use it with only the battery yet since I have hooked with my 22' inch Samsung SyncMaster as my primary monitor for games and use the laptop monitor for other apps such ventrilo, xfire, itunes & msn . Oh, I did not mention that this laptop is for my girlfirend (x-mas gift) and she doesn't know I am hardcore gaming on it :) - Last but not least...I order this baby Tuesday night and got it Friday 4pm at my job in NY. Heads down Newegg is and will be the best place to purchase any pc hardware and others. - ( BOZOS at UPS did the weirdest route: CA -> TX > FL > PA and the NY. I would believe the best route for delivery will been CA > TN > NJ > NY but.. don't matter, got here on time).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy

Pros: This thing is a beast! I added another 1Gb stick of RAM to it and this thing runs ultra smooth. I installed Oblivion and ran it on High settings. I must say this game has never looked so beautiful. Screen is very nice. The bottom doesn't get to hot to leave on lap. Dedicated GPU is a major bonus.

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I wish I would have go this when it was $xxx but even with the $xxx rise in price it is a STEAL!

It comes with a 1Gb RAM Dimm so you only need to buy one more if you want 2Gb total. I was unaware of this and bought 2 1Gb sticks, lol. Oh well I guess I have a back up. Will invest in another HDD soon.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Great Buy! the screen is wonderfull, it comes with enough ram its a dual core has a space open for a 2nd HD, i dont know what else to say...

Cons: batter doesn't last all too long. the CPU is 90nm = higher power and hear. cpu fan is a little loud, could use more ram.

Other Thoughts: All in all, I love this. i travel a lot for long periods of time AKA im in the military. its been great i would like more ram which is why i just ordered some from newegg $50 for 2 gigs and switched the stock thermal paste to (Artic Silver 5) which actually didn't seem to make a difference... very happy with my buy

4 out of 5 eggsMy 1st laptop

Pros: nice big screen, upgradeable mem, cpu & 2nd HDD space. good speakers (it's got a sub woofer) and a very nice built in 7.1 sound card. on board video is dx10 compatible. DVI output looks awesome on a HD-TV. SATA and RAID compatible. good support through everex users forum.

Cons: too big for a "laptop", more of a desktop replacement. big screen and dual core cpu suck the battery dry in 45min. preloaded Vista is a bit slower than XP.

Other Thoughts: I use RM clock to keep it from throttling and riva tune to over-clock the gpu. w/2 gigs of ram this laptop performs slightly better than my 4ghz p4 x800 desktop and is a lot quieter.

5 out of 5 eggsGood buy

Pros: Very vibrant 17" display. Dedicated Video Card. Dual HDD capable. Upgradeable CPU. Vista Home PREMIUM. Relativel Clean Install. CHEAP.

Cons: Only a TL50 (Dual Core 1.6Ghz) which is a complete slug compared to ANY Intel Core 2 CPUs. Vista crawls with only 1GB of RAM. Mine came with a Fugutsu 100GB HDD which is VERY slow. KB is very awkward but does have a full number pad. Battery life also suffers as a result of the large display. The CPU will also throttle itself regularaly under high loads.

Other Thoughts: I ordered an extra 2GB of RAM for mine. This is a MUST if you plan on keeping Vista.

This laptop has a very slow CPU. You can upgrade this to the 2.0Ghz models which would probably bring a welcome increase in processing power but unfortunately AMD isn't competitive with Intel right now, especially in the mobile market.

This laptop also has a bad tendency to throttle the CPU alot because of a rather poor cooling design. Most manufacturers did away with the under-side intake for the cooling fan in favor of the side intakes and exhaust. If you barely block the intake it will overheat and throttle. And you will notice a huge drop in performance (down to 800Mhz per core).

The keyboard on this laptop is also VERY strange in layout.

The Display and GF 7600 pair to make an EXCELLENT visual experience.

The Fugitsu HDD is prob the slowest link in the system and should be replaced with something faster.

Overall this is an awesome buy for the money and I am very happy with it!!

5 out of 5 eggsI'm keeping this one for a long time!

Pros: Wow this thing is definitely a keeper! I've owned this baby for 3 months now and I am very pleased. I am currently triple booting xp/vista/ubuntu and it all works well. This laptop has a space for a 2nd hard drive with RAID capability which I have yet to try. I just need 2 identical hard drives. My games work well on xp along with a few CAD programs. Laptops with these specs cost well over 1 grand. This thing is a steal.

Cons: It does like to get a bit hot with the fan running most of the time. This doesn't bother me though. The keyboard is also "unique" but I got so used to it that a standard keyboard feels funky now. It's also missing bluetooth and a webcam which would make this machine perfect.

Other Thoughts: I forgot to mention the amazing speakers it has with a little subwoofer to give sound an extra kick. Get yourself a 2nd gig of ram and one or two 7200rpm hd's and this thing is a screamer.

5 out of 5 eggsMucho happy

Pros: The screen is unbelievable, very nice, sometimes I prefer it over my new Benq 20" V3. Great audio options and solid build. I worked with many Dells and HP and this appears to be a workhorse. Plus, having the graphics card is awesome.

Cons: Memory needs upgrading and I wish I bought a dual channel kit, two 1Gig simms. Just got one ($26)and it performs better but is mismatched, the original is slower than 533.

Other Thoughts: Stunned at the feel and it runs Bioshock, Airborne, LFS.net, Jericho, FEAR, CoH, all okay but my favorite, Freelancer with some new mods (Frontierspace)fails in Vista.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Great laptop for the money. I went ahead and purchased the Hitachi 200GB 7200 rpm HD, 4 GB of Mushkin DDR2 667, and a TL-60 processor from auction site. For $1400 total I have a laptop that outperforms my buddies $2500 Sony Vaio that is only a 15.4" screen.

Cons: Everyone knows Vista sucks but I haven't had any problems running it...yet. Also the keyboard does take about a day getting used to the smaller shift key, but for the price who cares.

Other Thoughts: Purchase the memory if you can afford it and check out the forums on everex.com for this, they have every question you need answered.
