Power comes at a price, in the case of the XT5300T from Everex, it's very reasonable. Powered by a Mobile Athlon 64 X2 running at 1.7GHz and 1GB of memory, it has the power for all your work and play needs. There's a 120GB SATA drive to handle all of your storage needs, but if that isn’t enough, you can add a second drive without having to reinstall everything, thanks to the open drive bay.
The 17" screen supports a 1440x900,resolution for a sharp, detailed image that will tell you whose armor is sticking out from behind the wall. It's powered by a GeForce 8600M GS GPU with a dedicated 256MB of memory. This also lets you take on the latest DX10 games.
Gaming by yourself isn't as much fun, so pack up the notebook and take it off to the next LAN party where you'll get a great connection from the Gigabit Ethernet port. If the host doesn't have enough router ports you’re still fine with the 802.11b/g wireless ports keeping the data flowing.

Bad to the Bone
- Pros: Some serious horsepower for not much money. Drivers on everex website for the xt5000t for xp work exceptionally well. Converted from Vista to XP was no hassle at all. Made a ghost image, used XP cd to make a dual boot system and away it went. Good enough to play Crysis with most settings on low, some on medium. 3DMark03 Benched at 7700 haven't gotten around to doing the newer ones yet. Nice large screen, great speakers and subwoofer, extra slot for 2nd hard drive. Connections out the Wazoo! DVI, SVid, Firewire, USB, PC Express, Front mounted Volume control, Mic, Line In, Audio out
- Cons: Almost none at all, had to go find the XP webcam driver on my own as it was not on the everex website, and also had to get the XP touchpad driver on my own. The built in driver for XP worked fine, but I wanted all the same features as it has in Vista. Also Video card driver I had to get on my own, but I knew that before I even got started with the dual boot setup. My friend's 2year old dell has a better screen but he paid $2500 and definitely CANT play Crysis. With ram so cheap now, it wouldn't have hurt to add an extra gig of ram and raise the price a little, but that is easily upgraded.
- Other Thoughts: A CD with a manual and drivers etc. would have been nice, but it is all included on the hard drive so no biggie.
My new baby and worth every penny
- Pros: My first laptop and saved $600.00 buying this laptop. Was finally deciding on a Major brand or a custom laptop. I had been searching for a week and found this beauty. Bought a mouse heat sink, 1 gb ram, and usb cable for all in one printer and tap shoes (yes i dance) with money left over. Do not have much money so this is an exceptional value.
- Cons: None, even though I bought 1 gb ram for less than 30.00. Compared to the other laptops I looked at the only difference was hard disk space, and Ram. Those others didn't even have 2 Hard drive bays, which this one does. Did I mention I saved $600.00 buying this baby.
- Other Thoughts: My baby is Hi DEf and a dedicated card. I found out from the customer service Everex has been around sometime (commercial) but now they do personal computers and I must say their customer service is excellent. The reason I called was because the laptop didn't want to come out of hibernation because it needed to be discharged of electricity; nothing major. And yes their customer service is in USA; a huge plus. Thank you NewEgg for making me realize once again I shouldn't go anywhere else for great economical prices and products. By the way the other laptop i was looking that I didn't buy was 10.00 cheaper at Newegg than what the Big Blue discount Retailer (yeah, that one) was charging for the exact same laptop.

Very happy customer
- Pros: This laptop can be easily upgraded to 4GB of RAM (very affordable) and can hold two hard drives. From what I've read on the Everex user forums, the drive controller supports SATA 300 drives, so that will be my next hardware purchase. I installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit on this computer, flashed the BIOS to support the full 4GB of memory, and I'm very happy with the performance. I play WoW on this computer while using Ventrilo with no lag. I'm able to host virtual machines using Virtual PC 2007 without issue, while running my favorite work software. All this for about $600 less than I had planned to spend on another brand.
- Cons: The current BIOS does not appear to support RAID 0 or 1 even though the computer holds two hard disks. The stock 1GB of RAM does not support dual channel since there is only one SODIMM installed.
- Other Thoughts: The computer is very usable right out of the box, even for light gaming. However, it performs extremely well if you upgrade the memory. I highly recommend adding another 1GB SODIMM at the very least in order to activate the dual channel support, the performance boost is well worth it. For approximately $70-$80 you can replace the existing memory with a 4GB set, but you will only see a little over 3GB of it due to a limitation in the 32-bit architecture (this has nothing to do with Windows or Microsoft, it's just the way 32-bit architecture works). If you upgrade to a 64-bit OS you'll see the full 4GB, but will likely have to flash the BIOS to make this work. The process is relatively simple, and the Everex site has full instructions. All in all, I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
easily the best deal around
- Pros: everything all source games ultra high settings smooth as butta
- Cons: keyboard a lil funky but not to bad disk drive pretty loud but not a problem
- Other Thoughts: seriously for 700 yu cant even build a desktop thatll run this good its fantastic vista is great after sp1 seriously just buy it if your on steam add me contagent93
Where affordable meets instanity... you find the EVEREX XT5300T
- Pros: I own the EVEREX XT5000T notebook, the previous 17" model. I've used this one longer than most people that own it, however, and so I'm writing this well-educated review. First of all, the screen is brilliant. The resolution is more than great and is vibrant as ever. Web cam works just fine, full keyboard (albeit goofy), dual-layer DVD writer/ reader, AMD Turion 64 X2 at 1.7ghz (each core)... all great features. The 8600M GS graphics are capable of playing any current game as of April 2008, but may require some settings turned to low or medium. With as much power as there is in this laptop, and as affordable as it is, the price point matches that of a desktop computer of the same performance. You can easily spend $500-600 even $700 more hard-earned dollars for a laptop with LESS features than this EVEREX XT5300T. Vista is actually good. There's too many people on here that claim they have a "high" knowledge of the product, yet don't know how to turn off UAC *see "other thoughts".
- Cons: I can rant and rave about how great this product is, but there are still many flaws that degrade the system; most of which are problems with the previous xt5000t model that they didn't improve on. Hardware-wise, they improved. From the xt5000t to the xt5300t, you have 20gb more hard drive space, 1gb of DDR2 667 ram as opposed to 533, a slightly faster processor, and next generation graphics. However, the same issues that plagued the xt5000t are seen with the xt5300t. You'll still have a hot system that doesn't dissipate heat as well as it probably should. All of the USB ports are on the right side, as well as the exhaust, which can be uncomfortable if you use an external mouse and use the mouse on the right side of the computer. The DVD drive is still noisy, but to be honest, it works fast/ well, so noise may not be an issue to some people. The graphics card only has GDDR2 memory, not GDDR3, which would have improved graphics quite a bit. Keyboard will take an hour getting used to.
- Other Thoughts: UAC, or User Account Control, is the main thing that makes people hate Vista, and it shouldn't. It's a security tool that M*soft put in place so that unwanted malware doesn't infect your system unless the user his/ herself agrees to install it. Keeping in mind that most people say that it's annoying, and don't know how to turn it off even though they have a "high" knowledge about this product... I'd have to advise those people to STAY with Vista and leave the UAC on! Geez, but really though, the flaws I downgraded this review for were based on flaws that simply weren't upgraded from the previous model. The cases is the exact same case as the xt5000t. It's good, looks sleek, but many complain that it is heavy/ fragile, and they're right. EVEREX fans really wanted 2gb of RAM and 512mb internal GDDR3 graphics, but focused on affordability, EVEREX chose otherwise, understandably. I paid 840 clams for my xt5000t. For 150 less, this is more than affordable, it's insanity.
