I don't know about Skyrim, but it runs ESO on high res, max settings just fine.

Yes it is new. You don't need win7 just get Star Dock's " Start 8 ". It costs $4.99 and pretty much gives you back your win7 interface while running win 8. I put it on every non touch screen win8 or win 8.1. that I setup for users. The IPS screen is stunning and color calibrates easily with products like the Datacolor Spyder 4.0 pro I added a Crucial Msata drive for the OS and programs and 16gigs of Crucial ram and it boots the OS in 12 seconds and Photoshop in 3 seconds. This is my second Alienware Lap Top and I have never had any problems.
