2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Dedicated Graphics Card
Good Lasting Battery
USB 3.0 makes transferring files so much faster

Cons: Died in 4 months
Windows 8 combined with Acer makes it BSOD constantly until you can't even access the logon screen
Incompatible with most (good) anti-virus software and BSOD's when incompatible
BSOD's when you don't do anything
DVD player is relatively slow
Only 1 fan, which blows out air from the bottom and the left side. (Overheats t if you plan to play alot of games on it)
Troubleshooting doesn't solve any problem, but rather makes it worst

5 out of 5 eggs2nd Review

Pros: Slim, fast, good price Latest Nvidia drivers make it fast, HDMI performs well, great speakers.

Cons: Annoying/Hard to change to Win 7, slow hard drive, low resolution, SHORT battery life.

Other Thoughts: If you change to windows 7 make sure you have the support page open on another computer.
I use this laptop more like a home computer its always hooked up to a TV at 1080p which looks very nice.
I am a heavy gamer, so this laptop is constantly stressed out playing games out of its native resolution and multitasking does bog down when on the internet and a game. After purchasing this laptop I realized that the power in a computer I want will not be in a laptop and thus began my first desktop build.
But this was a big step forward coming from an HP G62 laptop.

3 out of 5 eggsI really wanted to give this one five stars...

Pros: Very portable: 5 pounds, surprisingly small power adapter.

Excellent bang-for-buck when it comes to gaming.
-Runs LoL at maxed out, near-constant 60 fps
-No problem playing Skyrim at low settings
-Can even play MechWarrior Online, poorly optimized as it is, at 45-60 fps!

VERY fast with upgraded RAM and HDD (I got a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136835) and this thing FLIES.

Cons: The wireless card gives me moments of intense lag while gaming. I'm talking anywhere from a 3-400 ping spike, to total non-responsiveness for a second or two.

Even this would only have knocked it down to 4 stars: After all, I can easily plug in or, baring that, just bring along the $20 wireless adapter that my desktop uses. (I tested the ethernet connection and didn't experience one single moment of lag on it).

However, Acer technical support is the WORST tech support I've ever had the displeasure of speaking to. They have a limited grasp of English and no concept whatsoever of what "online gaming" means: I had no fewer than 3 separate tech support agents ask me what browser I was using, and tell me to re-install flash and Java, as well as telling me that the problem was probably my video card.

This experience, combined with the fact that I would need to pay to ship my laptop to them, with no guarantee of it getting fixed, knocks it down to 3 stars.

Also, there's one stuck/dead pixel, but who cares about that?

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to give this laptop five stars. It was only after the 2nd or third lag spike, while my roommate's game continued uninterrupted, that I began to think that just maybe this deal was too good to be true.

I see that this laptop may not be restocked: But if it does come back, know this this is the perfect combination of portability, power, and affordability (even with upgraded RAM and HDD, this was still only about $750)... but you're taking a pretty serious risk.

And pray that you never have to go to tech support as I did.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat "budget" gaming laptop

Pros: - 2 GB Nvidia GT 730M Dedicated GPU
- Price
- Look of laptop
- Keyboard has each key spaced out a bit

Cons: - (Subjective) Windows 8
- The back of the screen is a fingerprint magnet
- 5400 RPM HDD-- It shows. See for a 7200 RPM drive, and if you play a few games, spend a few more $$ for the $699.99 version here that has 750 GB HDD and 6GB RAM. Worth it.

Other Thoughts: This is a really well priced gaming laptop for those who do lighter gaming. Here are some games I tried with settings:

Tera: Rising - 1366 x 768: Graphics Preset quality of 5 (out of 6), I get about 40 FPS in the opening Island of Dawn area (USE NVIDIA INSPECTOR TO FORCE ENABLE THE 730!! When I first played, it booted with onboard video!)

League of Legends: 1366 x 768: MAXED out, mostly 60 FPS

Left 4 Dead 2: I believe 720p (1366 x 768 wasn't available): MAXED OUT (All at highest, 8x MSAA, 16x AF), I was getting 70+ FPS in a test single player game.

I'm installing Far Cry 3 and Call of Duty Black Ops II now, but have no doubt I can play at this low resolution of 1366 x 768 with mid to high settings at playable frames with most titles. DirectX9 games should be NO SWEAT, but DirectX11 might be mid settings.

3 out of 5 eggsOk

Pros: Love the video card -can stream videos well, the keyboard is spacey like a regular keyboard, the speed is great, the screen size is nice and its not too heavy

Cons: Windows 8
I can't say enough on how much I now hate Windows 8. I didn't take that into account, and didn't think it would matter. I didn't mind Vista or ME at all, so figured 8 would be fine. I HATE Windows 8.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again if I could down grade to Windows 7

5 out of 5 eggsSays 710M on my computer BUT...

Pros: Nice mid range gaming laptop. Get the 16gb of RAM for a noticeable system boost.

Cons: The keyboard sucks, but I guess they needed to cut costs somewhere.

Other Thoughts: Just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue to where the systems specs underneath the keyboard shows that the video card is 710M. That freaked me out, but I checked in the settings and it is in fact showing that it is a 730M.

3 out of 5 eggsI really want to give this laptop 5 stars

Pros: Dont scream at me (I actually like Windows 8)
Quite
Runs games beautifully, most on Ultra Settings (I have tested World of Warcraft (65-98 FPS) and Bioshock Infinite in Ultra).

Cons: Misleading information amongst retailers, Crucial and Distributor about max memory supported.
I had an operating system failure on the second day and had to recover back to factory settings
The manual is generic and does not include specific specs for this laptop

Other Thoughts: I did experience a few hiccups with this laptop. I can only fit 3000 characters in here, so please read by full review in AMZN, which includes all details of my (ongoing) ordeal.

Basically, there is misleading and confusing information out there in regards to the max memory supported for this model. I have real that the max is anywhere between 8 GB and 32 GB). I also received an operating system error on the next day of purchase and had to reset to factory settings.

4 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: -The packaging was so fantastic, I didn't want to open it!
-dedicated 730m. I don't need to say more
-fast boot time
-the keyboard is very satisfactory. The sensitivity, texture, and sound is pitch perfect. I'd rather use it than my desktop keyboard
-mousepad buttons are also very satisfying to press
-i5 3230M 2.6GHz
-light and not bulky
-it feels sturdy and well built
-HDMI port
-4.5 hour battery life
-webcam
-full size keyboard

Cons: -I really wish the keyboard was lit up.
-Windows 8
-mousepad feels rubbery and kinda hard to move your fingers on.

Other Thoughts: -the glossy finish looks really good out of the box, but it is a fingerprint magnet
-it came very protected in packaging and wrapped in a soft material.
-It only has 4gb of ram but I'll upgrade it to 8gb later.
-Boot up time is good, but not sonic speed.

Overall: I got this on sale for $599 and boy am I happy! The ram is a bit low and Windows 8 is installed but I would recommend buying it to anyone.
I very much look forward to using the laptop in college.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop

Pros: -Fast
-Dedicated graphics card
-Great Price

Cons: -Gets fingerprints all over it very easily
-Battery life not super great

Other Thoughts: So I added an extra 4GB of RAM and this thing moves! I love the dedicated graphics card, making this a decent gaming pc. The display is great. I was a little skeptical because it came with Windows 8, but after tinkering around for an hour or so I got used to it. It has definitely grown on me, though it does take a little getting used to. I use this computer for school work and gaming

However, while playing intense games the battery doesn't last more than about an hour and a half as opposed to the normal 4ish hours, which makes sense. Movies don't really drain it much, thankfully. Not a big enough drawback to take away an egg and it is a laptop afterall. The case looks great, but is susceptible to getting fingerprints all over it easily. I love this computer and am completely satisfied, especially for this price. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a very good laptop and not wanting to break the bank.

5 out of 5 eggsBest value for price yet!

Pros: -Not light, not heavy- just right

-Not a whole lot of bloatware

-GT 730M gets it done at medium-high settings on almost all current games

Cons: -Touchpad stopped working once but after a reset it has yet to do it again.

-VERY SLOW HDD; Windows 8 comes with a hdd/ssd performance monitor and the read/write speeds of the stock hdd were pretty disgusting.

Other Thoughts: -Although this is a great laptop, I added a Kingston SSD and 8GB dual channel RAM which took this laptop over the top.

-11 second complete boot time from OFF status to logged in and usable.

For just under $600 you can not beat this deal!
