1 out of 5 eggsAcer Laptop Is Useless

Pros: Absolutely none. Does not perform as accepted, warranty that came with it is useless too.

Cons: Everything

Other Thoughts: When I first received my laptop I noticed the computer would only charge when restarted. That was issue number one. Issue number two was that even at 95-100% battery level the computer would just die as if I pulled out the battery. This was due to bad hardware because even in the boot sequence my laptop would sometimes die, meaning its not a software issue. Normally the warranty is there for this reason but here is where things take a turn for the worse. Acer provides a 90 day warranty on their laptops through some useless third party provider, Liquidity Services Inc.. They are as useless as a rock. I bought my laptop in August and was doing a warranty repair by October. I got authorized a label on October 16, 2013. I sent it in and waited over 3 weeks to received the same unit without any repairs done. I called again and sent it back. After not hearing anything for over a month I had to write email and make calls until they finally admitted that they didn't have a replacement unit for me. So they offered me an "upgraded" unit. I say "upgraded" because some specs where better, some the same, and some worse. I accepted this unit on January 5, 2014. However, they decided not to ship it for reasons unknown. On January 9, 2013 I get an email saying a laptop that was the same model as the one I send in was found and it would be shipped. I am perfectly fine receiving my original model instead of the "upgraded" unit, but the fact that they lied about what and when it would be shipped out is what angered me. When I received this unit it had a fake windows version installed. Which prompted another return. They received the unit on January 21, 2014. I had to call February 10, 2014 after not receiving any info from them. They informed me the same generic talk (for lack of a better term) that it takes 7-10 business days to process a repair, to which I promptly told her it had already been 14. They apologized and authorized a next day shipment. I received a different model this time, no biggie as the specs where all nearly the same, however it was still a defective unit, with the same problems as my original laptop. It is now February 13, 2014 and they said the only thing they can do is have me ship it back so they can ship out another one. I have been without my laptop since October 17, 2014. February 17, 2014 will mark 4 months of incompetency with this company because of a faulty laptop. Buyer beware this line of laptops has known defects and warranty is useless.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: Very light weight and portable. HDMI out and display on the screen was excellent. Loved the speed and battery life of this product.

Cons: Did not make it pass the 6 month mark and warranty only covers up to 3 months. Also track pad mouse was too sensitive and windows 8 is more of a pain to work with than windows 7

Other Thoughts: Will never buy refurbished products or acer brand again unless it comes with a good warranty. I requested Acer product repair quote of $200-300 dollars. Should of just bought a new laptop. What a loss.

1 out of 5 eggsPurchase is a gamble

Pros: Worked fantastically for two weeks.

Cons: Broke after a few weeks of light use. Battery does not work, it must be plugged in to the wall. Wifi has trouble connecting and it must reboot multiple times in order to see the network. Tech/warranty support are unreliable as well. Purchasing, using, and replacing this product as been an all around unenjoyable experience.

1 out of 5 eggsDefected keyboard

Pros: Slim design
Fast
Nice keyboard, except it came broken

Cons: With the broken key I've been trying to contact support but it has been two days & no respond.

I was expecting a working refurbished but not a defected refurbished. The key is clearly broken by someone who tried to unattach the key from the computer and broke it. It is so obvious the the backlit is on & that was the first thing I noticed when it arrive too.
Plus a lot of food stain everywhere that came with the computer.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Working Properly!

Pros: Ultra-book
i5, 6G RAM, SSD for a low price tag

Cons: The laptop arrived yesterday but after many hours of testing. It's a completed waste of my money.

When buying a refurbished product, I know what to expected and what not to beside the warranty. A refurbished should be working properly but this laptop does not.

The power cord that comes with this laptop is not the original, instead it's a cheap made in china product, which I've had a really bad experience with them in the pass. This thing is hot and kill your laptop really fast.

Also, the battery is malfunction. The battery indicator is always red even at full charged (100%). After 2 hours of slightly usage, it goes below 50% and shut down the whole laptop unexpectedly. I have to plugin in the power cord to turn it back on, it's when the indicator shows the batter level is below 5%. Do a 100% fully charged and again, it shut down every time the battery level is below 50%.

The touch pad is also not working properly. When I touch and hold my finer, the pointer shaking (keeps moving up and down) which makes it impossible to point to a correct coordinator when you're drawing or working with Photoshop...

This laptop should not be categorized as a refurbished, but a broken and missing parts instead. If possible, I would like to have a full refund, or at least exchange for a better one.

1 out of 5 eggsDecent laptop but terrible Operating System

Pros: The machine has a sleek look to it and is decent for everyday use.

Cons: Like most people, I simply don't like Windows 8. It's hard to do anything on this OS. It's much much slower than Windows 7 and less user friendly. Even my 10 year old knows how to navigate Windows 7, XP and OSX, but he gets frustrated with the lack of usability of Windows 8. So we installed Windows 7 on this machine for $270 extra. I will not be buying any machines preinstalled with this pathetic excuse for an operating system that is Windows 8.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: It is a by far the best laptop for the price. It is actually better than many $1000 laptops. I love the quality, picture and great sound.

Cons: no touchscreen but I really didn't need it, no full high def screen was an issue when working with my software. It wouldn't fit.

Other Thoughts: Best you can get for most users. I had to return it because software that I use the most didn't fully fit on the screen. But I loved it. Spent twice as much on a new one I am not liking it as much as I did this one.

1 out of 5 eggsunstable

Pros: See my previous review

Cons: Dreadfully unstable. Within 6 hours of receiving it and starting it up it began doing weird crashy things. It would freeze at various points of shutdown or startup, it would enter never-ending shutdown/restart loops, and it would black screen of death while running. Unfortunately on a refurb you can only exchange it, no refunds, so I have to PRAY that I can get a stable replacement. I'm not too hopeful, so I may have flushed this money (and time) down the toilet.

1 out of 5 eggsGood value/Unreliable

Pros: Good performance/ features for the money

Cons: -Windows 8 without a touchscreen
-Reliability

Other Thoughts: This product was performing fine for the 3 month warranty period. I'm just out of warranty for the refurbished unit and the wifi connectivity became shaky until now. Now, it won't even power on. Acer doesn't even provide support for out of warranty products. This was a major purchase for me and I regret it. Maybe this is why there's so many refurbished units available for purchase in the first place.
