4 out of 5 eggsMisleading

Pros: Great performance for the price at the price I paid. Windows 7.

Cons: No touch screen.

Other Thoughts: At the time I ordered this ultra-portable laptop the Acer and this website both listed it as having a touch screen. This laptop does not come with a touch screen. Only the Windows 8 version of this laptop has a touch screen. Oddly the Windows 8 version and Windows 7 version of this laptop were within a few dollars of each other when I bought it. Being a tech an power user there is no way I could have got the Windows 8 version.

5 out of 5 eggsPlays Starcraft 2 even at 1080p

Pros: Comes with 1x4GB not 2x2GB which means you can just pop in a second 4GB stick and have 8GB of RAM. Plays Starcraft II on low settings even with a 1080p monitor plugged in. Ivy Bridge Graphics is legit!

Cons: Touchpad is not the greatest but this won't matter to people that use a mouse.

Other Thoughts: I was lucky to get this as an open box for a hundred cheaper. I can't complain!

Also, I reinstalled Windows immediately after getting this laptop. One trick I use on 5400rpm drives is formatting it with 64K clusters instead of the default 4K clusters since I never really use more than 150GB ever

5 out of 5 eggsAcer Aspire V5-131-2629

Pros: Win 7
Size
Price

Cons: No USB 3.0
Boatload
The charger does not seem very robust, but it works fine so far.

Other Thoughts: I am not sure what others have received, but the one I got works just fine.
Reading the reviews I was concern the touch pad was usable, but it's not that much different from others pads I use. It has double picked while playing a card game, but so does my big $$$ computer’s pad. It does come with some boatload, but they can easily be removed.
I considered adding 4 GB of RAM & changing the HD to a SSD, but the start-up time is rather quick and I do not plan to multi task with it so at this time I do not see needing to upgrade.
I would buy one of these again.

5 out of 5 eggsacer aspire v5-131-2629

Pros: I doubled the memory, and it moves right along. I like the size of computer.

Cons: No problems.

Other Thoughts: This computer is the second one of this model. I ended up returning the first one a second time is because the microphone failed to work when I tried to skype with the computer. This second return for an exchange was no problem. I wish I'd asked for an exchange the first time I returned the computer. This time I checked all functions. They all work. Thanks, New Egg.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat little laptop

Pros: - Works great for basic functions
- Good battery life (I get about 5 hours out of it)
- Small
- Lightweight

Cons: - Pre-loaded with tons of bloatware
- battery makes a little uncomfortable on lap

Other Thoughts: I bought this laptop specifically with school in mind. It actually came preloaded with tourchlight, plants vs zombies, and a bunch of other games, but I took them off. If your looking for something cheap with good battery life they your in the right place. I would warn anybody without decent computer knowledge against this purchase because of the overwhelming amount of bloatware that it comes preloaded with. It literally took me about 2 hours to un-install all off of it.

4 out of 5 eggsLight, fast enough, great

Pros: Lightweight, quick boot, pretty good battery life

Cons: Track pad is a little on the squirrel side, but not so much it ruins the usage.

3 out of 5 eggsbad port

Pros: I like the size of computer. I like the speed since I doubled memory.

Cons: I sent the computer back to NewEgg for repair or replacement because it had a faulty USB port. Also the card reader did not work.

Other Thoughts: Upon getting the same computer back from NewEgg and upon being told by NewEgg that the computer was good to go, I found immediately that the USB port was still faulty. If I inserted a memory stick or a USB mouse in that port and held the stick or the mouse in a stressed position, the stick and mouse would work sometimes. I ended up breaking the port trying to get it to work properly. Now I have the two remaining USB ports. I guess that's all I need for now. Still I'm disappointed: I expected better service from NewEgg.

5 out of 5 eggsGOOD VALUE

Pros: Good value. Came with heavy duty battery. Good battery life. Windows 7.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This comes with one ram module like many value machines. It is also latency 11 but is 1600 speed. This means single channel memory mode. The response time is quite good in single channel mode. I am ordering two 4 gigabyte latency 9 modules from Newegg. I also used a defrag program on the drive after all the updates and software installs. It cold boots in one minute and five seconds to a desktop with a wifi internet connection. The sound level is quite low like most small laptops and tablets. Headphone usage is normal. If you want a SSD on a machine build a clean system on a conventional drive the do a clone.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat laptop for portability, battery life, and lightweight use

Pros: This laptop is great in regards to portability, battery life, and lightweight multitasking. I purchased this specifically for use when traveling and to use around the house as an extra internet browser/bill pay machine. The build quality is there. I personally feel like it's well built even though it's a cheaper machine.

This laptop is nice and light. I can easily carry it around without noticing any unwanted weight (much improved over the 17" this replaced). The batter life has so far been excellent. While traveling, I was on a flight from Seattle to Maui, and it lasted the entire flight on a single charge. Around the house, I can use this on and off for days on a single charge.

I am able to use Photoshop CS4 64bit on this machine without any issues. I can, at the same time, be browsing the internet and listening to Pandora. Even though this has a Celeron CPU, it can handle these tasks well together. For the heck of it, I even tried installing some games to see how it works. I tried playing CS-GO and didn't have any issues.

The matte screen is great. I looked all over for a sub 12" laptop with a matte screen and they are few and far between. I did notice a slight ripple on the upper corner of the screen while moving the laptop, but this is common on thin laptops like this (same thing happens on Acer Chromebook).

Keyboard feels nice, though a bit small (not a con as I expected this on a sub 12" laptop).

Cons: Boot times are fairly long due to the 5400rpm hard drive (see other thoughts).

The touchpad would be better with individual buttons instead of one big click pad (I purchased a small wireless mouse to correct this).

It should have came with one USB 3.0 port.

Speakers leave a lot to be desired. I use headphones though, so this wasn't too much of a con for me.

Other Thoughts: I purchased an 8GB ram upgrade for this, along with a Samsung 840 EVO SSD. Upgrades were very simple (one screw on the bottom and you can access both items).

With the added ram and SSD, this machine usually boots in around 10-15 seconds.
