5 out of 5 eggsGreat Netbook

Pros: Fast and capable Pentium quad core CPU (Bay Trail Atom).
I prefer the matte screen.
Scores 154 in Cinebench R15, compared to 48 of my AMD E350 (lenovo s205) it replaced.
Battery life is a solid 4 hours with heavy use.
Fanless design

Cons: Keyboard stroke is quite short compared to my other netbook. I would say its a bit less comfortable to type on compared to the Lenovo S205, but I'm getting used to it.

Display is a typical TN panel with poor display angles, but thats to be expected in a laptop in the price class. The colors are better than my Lenovo S205's though.

Other Thoughts: Unlike the other reviewers, I really like this netbook. Calling it a netbook is almost a disservice, it could be the only computer you really need. Get an external mouse, keyboard and larger monitor, you'd be hard pressed to tell it wasn't a desktop. Unhook everything and take it with you.
I put in a Crucial SSD and 8gb of ram. Cloned the HDD with Acronis and it booted up within seconds without a problem.

While others have complained about the heat, ANY laptop that is left on a lap, or blanket will get warm. This netbook, even while playing WoW on my lap, in bed was only warm to the touch, as I would expect. I liked the idea that this thing is fanless. With my ssd, there are no moving parts inside!

5 out of 5 eggsI like

Pros: I wanted something that was small and easier to use than a cell phone or tablet. So far no problems.

Cons: Have to lean the screen way back to get good view, seems that is the way with most laptops now.

Other Thoughts: I never used Win 8 before so I was lost until I installed the shell program.

2 out of 5 eggsDissapointed

Pros: Small, portable. Cheap.

Cons: The keyboard mouse is glitchy and almost unusable. In addition, even though I called to see if there was an internal fan, and I was told there was, there isn't one so it gets really hot.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted 2 Weeks

Pros: Small and cost efficient

Cons: Within 2 weeks of purchase computer became near non-functional. Rather than spend $100 per hour labor trouble shooting decided to send it back in.

1 out of 5 eggsMaybe not...

Pros: Purchased on a Newegg 24 hour sale for $259 with coupon code. I saw it was on sale & needed a carry-around laptop, so I researched this unit for upgradeability & planned to do my own ram & ssd upgrades because I prefer windows 7. I guess Acer had other plans (see below).

Cons: I immediately replaced the stock hd with an ssd, and the fun began. When boot setting was set to UEFI mode in bios (by default), it would give a 'No Boot Device' error & BIOS WOULD would NOT RECOGNIZE ANY BOOT DEVICE - windows install usb, or usb dvd drive, nor would it boot to any of these. Once this setting was changed to 'Legacy', bios would recognize installation devices but IT WOULD NOT BOOT TO ANY INSTALLATION DEVICE - windows installation usb or usb dvd drive (for windows dvd installation). Even after windows was pre-installed to ssd & then installed on this unit it still wouldn't boot. In UEFI boot mode, it would give a 'No Boot Device' error, & in Legacy boot mode, windows would crash on startup. I've done this on DOZENS of laptops without a problem, & after hours lost on this unit I can't get my RMA fast enough.

Other Thoughts: Shame, I really wanted this notebook to work out but I absolutely detest windows 8. If you need an affordable 'ultra-portable' & you don't mind windows 8, you might like this notebook. My advice, spend a bit more & try a lenovo ideapad, a dell inspiron 11, or a zenbook; similar size & specs, but just a bit more $$ and probably fewer headaches in exchange.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent budget laptop

Pros: Lightweight, did not hang when opening apps.

Cons: Though its fanless It does get heated just like core 2 duo laptop, i could feel the heat when touching the base of the laptop, definitely cannot use it on lap for more than 2 - 3 minutes.

Other Thoughts: Will update based on experience...
