2 out of 5 eggsCheck with manufacturer before ordering

Pros: Seems to be a good power supply. I like the 90 degree connector

Cons: Does not have a tip for the new HP laptops. This was the main reason I bought i. I have 2 new HP laptops and it does not have a tip for either of them. Now Targus wants me to pay $9.99 for the proper tip.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if they listed the tips and the laptops that it works with on the product page

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Build and FREE tips for Life!!!

Pros: 1.) Quality build. You can feel the difference compared to other Universal Adapters.
2.) Auto Detection of Voltages so no need to mess with settings or switches
3.) Nice Retail Package
4.) The Mini USB included adapter worked with all of my Android Cell Phones and tablets
5.) Even though I did not need the Apple Cords it is nice to have them included
6.) Sells for $79 everywhere else I looked
7.) 90W as many others are only 70w
8.) 1 Year Warranty
9.) Free additional tips for life (Just pay shipping) I ordered additional tips as soon as I received it as my HP G60 and HP DV7 did not work with the included tips. Go to www.targus.com/power to order the tips and enter promo code tftreg10
10.) USB charger included

Cons: 1.)There are still many of the newer devices that do not have compatible tips according to the Targus web site.
2.) There are a lot of incompatible devices such as Alienware, MAC and etc but I guess this would also be the same with other Universal Chargers.
3.) A little bag or pouch would be nice to include to hold everything in.

Other Thoughts: Overall the build quality is nice and all of the included adapters are useful. The Free tips for life cannot be beat and makes this a much better unit than any other even if you pay more. You are Future Proof with this feature. targus is a respected brand and is known for their quality products.

4 out of 5 eggsFree Targus charging tips

Pros: When needing a 2nd AC adapter for a laptop, always buy a universal AC adapter. This way you don't need to buy one when you get another laptop, or need to charge a laptop other than your own. This also auto adapts to the voltage, unlike some universal chargers, so no need to mess with settings, just find the tip that fits.

You can also get free Targus charging tips for the life of the product. You just pay about $5 for S&H. To get the free tips, go to www.targus.com/power Add up to 5 tips, and use code tftreg10 at checkout.

Cons: I prefer their previous slim design with dual plugs for tips they had a few years ago, so this is a step back. Also, the charging tips are different, so I had to order new tips when buying this for my wife. For the Apple users, it's a no go as they have proprietary plugs.

Other Thoughts: If you can't find your tip online, chat with Targus or call them. They are helpful in finding the right tip for your device.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat sale price

Pros: On sale, this is an extreme value. I wouldn't pay retail for this, but I would pay up to $30 since it includes iPod and USB connections as well.

Cons: The Toshiba adapter will not work on older Toshiba laptop models. I did not know this ahead of time, so I can't really take an egg off for that issue.

2 out of 5 eggsSurprising Limitations

Pros: Inexpensive and two distinct chargers in one package (USB and computer power supply)

Cons: I've purchased similar products in the past but I've never gotten one where every computer I own is NOT supported without buying another power tip. I have four different HP laptops (two low-end home and two pro level ranging from 5 to less than a year old) and all of them require a different tip (and HP is listed as supported in the product information).

Other Thoughts: I feel a little stupid for not investigating a little further online at the Targas site to determine if this would support my machines without additional tips. But I kind of figured with a broad range of laptops, I'd be able to use it on at least one of them.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: In a word, excellent. Superior to my several (other-brand) laptop power adapters of the same type and form factor.. It does its job well, output voltage is on spec, and has these additional strengths:
1.Has enough power for my very large 18.4" heavy-draw laptop
2. Smaller and somewhat lighter than any of the others, an advantage for carrying with portable devices like laptops
3. Has lots of accessory plugs/adapters/cables
4. Has a separate wall-adapter with a USB charging port for smartphones and other devices

All the others have drawbacks. For example, one has a fan that makes noise.

Cons: Hard to find a fault. No LED, but that's of no consequence here.

Other Thoughts: Nice to find products that are a cut above the rest.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: Great universal laptop charger. I think it works better than the original Gateway charger did, but my mother-in-law lost that one a year ago.
USB charger is a bonus. 2.1A charging. Smaller than my iPad charger, so it's easier to put in my backpack.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I didn't need the USB stuff, but it was cheaper than the laptop charger alone. Thanks, Targus!
