5 out of 5 eggsawesome!

Pros: Comfortable

Cons: um.. it wasnt free?

Other Thoughts: I bought a Thermaltake passive laptop cooler. I had great reviews on another website that has something to do with a south American rain forest. It did nothing! My laptop would overheat when playing video games like SWTOR. I got this one, and could not be happier. My laptop does not overheat anymore. I even raised my graphics level in-game. It stays cool. This is the cooler you want if you use your laptop on your lap.

2 out of 5 eggsGood function / poorly made

Pros: This thing works very well for what it's supposed to do. I can't fault anything there.

Cons: Cheaply made. I bought this 2 years ago, but stored it in a move. I got it out in July when my laptop fan broke. It served me well for a month before the USB part of the plug frayed and eventually fell off (without misuse). I'd think there would be a tiny bit more support around the cord, or if it was USB on both sides.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't help, not a good product

Pros: I honestly can't think of any pros.

Cons: Underneath cushioning is not comfortable.
Top is slick and won't keep laptop from constantly sliding.
Didn't cool down my computer but actually increased the temperatures.

Other Thoughts: I had high hopes for this but it completely failed. Feels very cheaply made. I am in the midst of returning this item for a refund and would not recommend it to anyone.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Brandon M.,

We apologize for any trouble or confusion you had with our cooler. May we ask, what laptop were you attempting to cool? May we ask, what temperature did you measure (hard drive, motherboard, cpu, system)? May we ask, what was the temperature before, and what was the temperature after? Please keep in mind that if this is for a mac book, the cooler may not be optimal as most macbooks have no vents for the cooler to push air into, thereby cooling the laptop. Would you be able to contact us so we can troubleshoot and get more information so we can rectify the situation?

5 out of 5 eggsI Use This Everywhere. Even Now.

Pros: It's on my lap right now (as it has been for over a year) with a 17.3" laptop. It's comfortable, quiet, and there's unbelievable improvements in how it prevents the laptop from getting hot. Even if the fan isn't running, it still keeps my vents open and flows air through beautifully. When playing a game that sucks the power out of my laptop like Guild Wars 2, the difference between the fan on and off are remarkably. My hands start to burn when the fan is off. Plug the fan in and I can go for hours without discomfort. This isn't just some piece of plastic, it's an investment that could keep all your computer parts safe and potentially double the life of your laptop. And even if you don't play intensive games, wouldn't it be nice to have a laptop you could put on your lap, especially one this size? The fans are also really quiet. You can hear it lightly, but not when you got music playing.

Cons: The only con is that you'll need to purchase a laptop bookbag. And quite honestly, if you're already carrying around a laptop that's a good 17", you should probably be doing that any ways. Be sure to get a bag with depth, it is about the same size as my laptop in terms of length x width x depth, so you figure you'll want one that looks like it could fit two laptops. I know it sounds huge but it isn't at all and it's very lightweight. It's solid plastic so it's not going to crush or compact but you need space for it.

Other Thoughts: This thing is second nature to me. I keep it on my bed with no problems, on the couch, tables, and it's elevated enough that I know that if someone spills a drink on the table, the laptop is elevated high enough not to be affected. If it's on a flat surface, it's also ergonomic to make your laptop feel a little more elevated for your hands. So even if you play on a flat surface, it still has a great deal of advantages. As the title says, I take it everywhere because it's so incredibly useful.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but Quite...HA!

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do, keeps it cool, you don't lose a port,

Cons: pretty loud fan

Other Thoughts: I'm running this with my Macbook Pro and it really gets the job done. However the fan is a little loud. Given the last lappad I had did not do the job done I can deal with the sound. The only thing I argue about this product is that it touts that its quite. Not so.

5 out of 5 eggsComfy and cool!

Pros: Large enough to accommodate full sized notebooks, cooling fan moves a nice amount of air, padded bottom keeps your lap comfortable.

Cons: fan is kinda loud. Rubber strip on the bottom of the unit needs stronger adhesive. Mine kept peeling back. I superglued it back down and it's stayed put.

Other Thoughts: I'm using a 15.4" MSI 16F2-012. I tried a couple other coolers made for 15.4" notebooks and they were all too small so I grabbed this one and even though it's made for the larger notebooks, the MSI fits it perfectly nice and flush on the edges.

I've got the GTX 570m overclocked so it puts out a lot more heat when gaming and this cooler is absolutely ESSENTIAL to prevent it from burning my lap/legs.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it says

Pros: Works as stated. The laptop doesn't slide around and keeps it cool. I don't notice any noise but its very rare for me to use it when its absolutely quiet. My laptop gets extremely hot and this takes care of it. I think it was a good buy. My leg doesn't get burnt when its on my lap and I don't have to worry any more about something getting fried. I bought 2 but my wife's new Levono doesn't get hot at all.... guess I got a spare

Cons: Wish it had 2 fans or the fan was moveable. But ones that had those features were a lot more money. I can't take any stars off for this as this is exactly what they said it was and the price was great.

3 out of 5 eggsGood fan, bad power cord

Pros: The fan did a great job and was quiet, as advertised.

Cons: The USB connector that provides power to the device has a very thin cord and a poor connection. There is very little slack in the cord, which allows you to put stress on that flimsy cord. Ultimately, the cord has been mostly pulled away from the device, rendering it unusable. They should have reinforced the connection and the cord. I am checking on warranty and replacement options with the company now.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mizzou89,

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the cooling pad. Can you clarify more on your issue on live chat. Under warranty, we can help you replace you defective cord. Link below for your reference.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

Pros: I bought this for my work latptop which is a **** Precision M6500. The Laptop runs smoking hot, and my I just had one burn itself out after about a year. This cooler does exactly what it's supposed to. It's not quiet, but its a lot quieter than the laptop by itself when not sitting on one. For the first time I can actually sit with this laptop in my lap.

Cons: See Other thoughts

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if their was a way to physically attach this to the laptop. It's a little scary trying to move around with this connected to my already awkwardly heavy 17" laptop.

5 out of 5 eggsCools and comfortable

Pros: It's cool, it runs, and it doesn't take away my USB port. The cord fits snugly in the back and the fan does its job. It's a shame there's not more than one, but it still works well and I'm not worried about multiple fans blowing the air every which way to reduce proper circulation.

Cons: It's kind thick so the tiny laptop bags will probably have troubles. It's a bit thicker than my laptop but not by too much.

Other Thoughts: Okay why do people complain about noise? It's not noisy for what it does. Either you want the fan to move or you don't. Seriously, it's quiet for a fan blowing hot air out of your laptop and still barely heard when you put on your speakers. It's still pretty quiet.
