5 out of 5 eggsQuality pad

Pros: Quality item. Aluminum frame with rubber pads in all the right places. Perforations allow the cooling fan to be mounted in any location. Long cord allows orientation in any position. Great deal for the money. Light weight, durable & easy to transport.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I got this for $9.99 with free shipping 3.5 years ago. I'm very happy with it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for regular notebooks

Pros: Strong metal
Rubber pads in all the right places.
Fully height/angle adjustment

Cons: Fan is a joke. Barely moves any air, and it's only held in place by two pins that push through the holes. If you re-position it a few times it might not even stay in place.

the bottom lip covers the trackpad

Other Thoughts: I'm using it for a tiny asus netbook, and it works well as long as you are using a separate keyboard and mouse.

Have not found a good use for the USB fan yet.

5 out of 5 eggsI love it

Pros: Sturdy- made from 1/8" thick aluminum. Seems well made. Can be used in either up or down position.
Even if used passively without the fan, the perforations allow for a lot of air flow.

Cons: Not a con for me, as I'm using an 11.6" notebook, but it would be hard to get a 15" notebook on this one.
A tad overpriced at $20, but I was happy with the $15 I paid.
If using curved side up, the lip will block your touchpad and buttons.

Other Thoughts: I absolute *LOVE* this laptop stand. I am retiring my plastic Targus ones.
This stand is *designed* to be used either up or down- look at the pix. Curved piece down seems the most natural, and will sit on your lap comfortably. I don't find my laptop to slide around at all, but if you do get some self adhesive silicone "sticky feet" and that will solve the problem.
The fan has 4 little posts, and it pushes into place through the holes.
The fan doesn't move a whole lot of air, but it's quiet and gets the job done. The temps on my mobile core i7 dropped about 5-6C with this stand, and that's outside in summer heat.
Even if used passively without the fan, the holes allow for a lot of air flow.
It's also quite sturdy, being made from 1/8" thick aluminum. There is NO flex whatsoever. You can dance on it. :-)
I bought two of these. When they go back on sale I intend to buy 2 more, I like them that much.
Great product!

4 out of 5 eggsgreat design, cheap fan

Pros: third laptop cooler stand i have purchased. a belkin, a coolermaster, and now this. even with flaws, it is the best of the 3. awesome multi-purpose design. several different ways to set this stand up depending on your needs. usb connector pass-through so you don't lose a plug.

Cons: fan was doa on arrival. i was able to stitch together an 80mm red led case fan with the usb plug to get a working fan though. kinda ghetto, but it works. had to use a drill and enlarge a couple holes to get the fan screws to fit. only -1 egg however since it looks better with the glow now. ;)

the fan usb plug has the wire leads off to the side. slightly inconvenient as it blocks my other usb port a little bit. maybe put the wire on the bottom or the top of the plug to solve that issue.

5 out of 5 eggsVersatile, simple

Pros: Although it says it works for laptops up to 15", I've used this with our 17" MBP as well without any trouble.

I love how simple the design is and how lightweight and portable it is. I usually fit the stand around the laptop in a laptop carrying case and in effect the stand takes up no extra space.

If you're just using this for cooling or slight elevation of your laptop, you use it most simply as in the photos, but you can also use the hardware that is included to flip the stand and prop it up much higher in the event you are using it with another taller monitor.

Cons: Fan makes funny noises occasionally.
When the stand is propped up high, you lose access to the trackpad.

4 out of 5 eggsPreliminary review (first day)

Pros: Fits in Backpack

Silent Fan

Does not eliminate a USB port

Sturdy aluminum

Rubber feet on the bottom is a plus and the stoppers up top prevent your laptop from sliding

This cooling pad (with fan running) actually cooled by Toshiba Satellite by 10 degrees Fahrenheit!!!

Cons: Stand feature is useless unless your watching a movie

A little short on the sides for a 14 in laptop... would not go any bigger... WILL NOT FIT A 15 inch laptop

Fan is a little weak.... but hey this this was 12 bucks!!!!

Other Thoughts: This was my first day owning the product. Overall, for the 12 bucks I paid I am very pleased. The fact that this is an aluminum laptop cooler is a HUGE plus. Also, it is nicely vented so even if you don't use the fan your computer will run cooler. As far as the "stand" feature goes, do not pay attention to the pictures, simply flip the cooler over and use it like you would any other laptop cooler. Its actually quite comfortable on your lap because of the rubber pads on the bottom. If it does bother you though just put a pillow under it. On a table you could use the stand feature or just use it like usual. Depending on where the vents are on your computer the fan may have to sit more towards the front of the computer (not near the screen). I have a Toshiba Satellite and the vents are right under the touch-pad. The fan is a little thick so the fan will actually touch the table if you have to place it close to you but the pegs double as feet so no worries there.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my installation

Pros: price
materials of construction - not likely to break in use
flexibility in orientation for use
three inch legs (approximately) allow my laptop to fit on my crowded desk
The fan keeps my laptop much cooler - by feel - than before. This laptop may not have temperature sensors, in any case I have not found software to read the temperature. So I can only say the laptop feels much cooler - which is a relief. I was definitely worried about temperature.

Cons: three inch legs may create an uncomfortable typing position for some. There are two alternatives if this is a problem for you (1) I believe the intention of this design was to use an external keyboard - if you have the space on your desk this should be ideal (2) others have mentioned just turn the pad over and don't attach the legs - works fine that way too.
I found the curved lip at the bottom covered the left and right buttons on my mouse pad. This may not be a problem for your laptop. I cut some packing foam and made a thin bumper to lift the laptop so that the mouse pad buttons are in easy reach. Now it is as though the laptop pad/cooler was made for my installation.

Other Thoughts: Before I set this pad up with my laptop, this is not the product that I would have bought first. Lucky me, by accident I bought this product. Now that I have set it up on my desk it is as thought a product designer made it specially for my desk. The legs lift the laptop so it takes less surface area. The screen is now positioned more like my desktop monitor. If I did a lot of typing then I would use an external keyboard. But the laptop is not my main machine. I usually use it in trouble shooting to view a screen while I work on the desk top. I don't do much typing on the laptop even when I use it for hours. This really works for me and is much appreciated.

BTW, some have commented negatively on the fan. Too early to tell for me. But it it fails I am pretty sure I can substitute another fan easily. My be a bit of a bother in the future - knock wood - but anybody who has been inside a computer case should be able to deal with this, should there be a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks good, costs less

Pros: Knocked a few degrees off my Acer Aspire AS5750-6866 (i3 2350). Using CoreTemp & Prime95 for testing - Standard notebook average temps after 10min of Prime without the RNA-104XL: Core1 - 71c, Core2 - 74c.
Average temps after 10min of Prime with the RNA-104XL + fan located underneath the fan intake spot on the bottom of my laptop: Core1 - 68c, Core2 - 71c.

Cons: The fan is a low speed fan, so don't expect to see Scythe GT type performance. I wish it was easy to switch fans, but the built quality of the included fan looks OK to me (just wish I could easily swap it with a D12SL-12 using the same USB adapter; I'm sure I could DIY it but it's not really necessary).

Other Thoughts: Pictures and directions are all out of whack. Here's what I did: 1) Ignore the metal rods and screws because you don't need them. 2) Turn the unit over so the top curls over and under and down. 3) Put the fan on the underside just below where the curl is. 4) Put the 2 rubber strips somewhere on the cooler itself (I put mine on the top where the narrow lips curl around, next to the single hole that the rubber curl piece goes through). 5) Put laptop on top. That will raise the end of the laptop up off the surface about 2" and still works good and comfortable even if you sit it in your lap.

3 out of 5 eggsRosewill Cooling Pads

Pros: fans work well and do the job, but note the drop in price history here, started out 25 bucks and now less than ten ... ???

Cons: not easily portable, if you get the one with usb ports, they're sure NOT 2.0, can't even run a hard-wired mouse and really, these folks have had quite a few sent back, thus the notable drop in price ... 25 bucks down to less than ten ... ??? They would be nice as give-aways when you spend more than 25 bucks with these folks ... True That

1 out of 5 eggsHorribly Awful Build Quality

Pros: Cheap
Fan can be positioned wherever you want to
You don't lose the USB port

Cons: Where to start? The stand is fine for placing on a desk, but forget about using it on your lap unless you want to be stabbed. One of the blades on the fan broke within a month. The wiring is EXTREMELY fragile and starting coming apart less than 2 months after I bought this. Right now, the fan will not turn on at all.

Other Thoughts: Sadly, you get what you pay for.
