4 out of 5 eggsDecent cooler with SATAII bay

Pros: Very quiet, excellent cooling, Only cooler I found on Newegg with a built in 2.5" HDD/SSD bay, 3 USB2 ports on back, rear facing fans, cools the entire bottom of the Notebook, Adjustable fan speed control but very quiet on highest setting, sucks air in from back and out through the top, comes with dual USB2 Y adapter to get more power of of the PC, big enough for most notebooks and maybe too big for others.

Cons: Bulky, USB2, SATAII, Y USB input connectors are fat and won't fit side by side in my Lenovo Y510P, heavy. So I just use one in a USB3 port which provides plenty of power.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my Lenovo Y510P with dual GT750M cards and it keeps those and the most of the whole bottom cool. The USB2 and SATAII are a buzzkill. I'm tempted to "upgrade" them to USB3 and SATAIII but don't want to void my warranty just yet. There is plenty of room inside the case to customize but changing the SATA controller would be tricky. This thing would be awesome if it had those upgrades. I get just around 20MBs transfer rate to a Sandisk Extreme SSD installed in the bay. Seems like a waste of a good SSD so I will be replacing that with a slower HDD to do system image backups and possibly extra data/games. Unit is a big handful when paired with the heavy notebook. You don't need the Y connector or the extra wallwart if you use a USB3 port on your notebook. Get it on sale.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for backups and use on carpet/blankets

Pros: I upgraded the HDD on my 15" Vaio after cloning to the new drive (Acronis True Image), I stuck the old one in the cooler's drive bay use it for backup purposes. I also needed something that had a rear air intake so I could use the cooler/notebook combo on thicker carpeting, couch cushions or quilts, bed comforters, etc. And anybody who's set a laptop on a comforter for any duration knows that things heat up enough to, on occasion, sustain a fusion reaction. And of course I don't want to have to plug it in. Have been pleased to see that the USB ports (using supplied cable w/dual plug to single-mini connector) runs the two rear fans AND old 2.5" drive just fine with plenty of cooling (fans are adjustable but mine are on max all the time since it's barely audible). At work, I have a 5V adapter and that boosts fan speed even more. Also, know where your notebook's hot spots are; my Vaio keeps the RAM in front under the mouse pad so some cooler designs wouldn't work.

Cons: Unit does not come with an AC-to-DC power adapter. Although these are readily available (or get a universal adapter and set to 5V DC/200 mA), and not necessary for out-of-the-box usage, it would be a convenient accessory to include. Also, without the independent 5V power feed, I had trouble using a WD Passport (2.5" 500 GB) drive; it would spin and click, but not power on fully until AC-to-DC power was provided. But I also had a Logitech desktop mic, wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, and iPhone (and the already-installed 2.5" drive inside the cooler), so one might consider this a Pro when you take into account every device BUT the Passport was powered. This will be different for each user, of course, and vary from laptop to laptop.

Other Thoughts: Like I said, consider a rear air intake if you're going to use any cooler on thicker carpeting, blanketing, etc. The cooler also makes a stable platform if you have to work on top of a pile of clothes -- what? no, not me personally - but you know, in case the laundry backs up... in theory. I'm ordering a second unit right now to keep at my office so I don't have to tote it back anb forth, but the main reason there is because I have every USB device known to humankind plugged in.

2 out of 5 eggsgood options, if they work

Pros: actually cools notebook. I use it on the asus g73jh(BB model)and keeps system 10c cooler then without under load. really for cooling hd and ram as this notebook cools cpu/gpu through top vents and out the back.

Cons: power cable that comes with unit does not work or cooler is faulty. when i plug it into the laptop it shorts out my laptop as if there was no power to it. luckily i have a 5v supply on my card reader on my desktop so i ran the fans off that. no clue if hd bay works as i am afraid to plug in the usb.

Other Thoughts: looks good on outside, pcb quality could have been better. especially for the price. looked on forums and saw others saying that the sata controller pcb has really bad soldering and this is what caused the laptop to power off. at least i am not the only one with this problem.

5 out of 5 eggsworks well for me!

Pros: Works like a docking station... I can plug all my peripherals into the cooler via USB and then have one USB from my laptop to the cooler. I just installed a SATA hard drive; works GREAT for making backups and it doesn't add more "stuff" to my desk. Large enough for my 17.3" laptop. I can adjust the angle with the little feet in the back, so typing feels like a regular keyboard. It cools my laptop fine, though I am mostly an Office and Internet user (no graphics or gaming). The fan speed is adjustable and on "high", I can feel the breeze coming out from under the laptop and don't hear a thing. I am very pleased with this cooler. Also, I started off without a power adapter. Without using the hard drive bay, that worked just fine. When you powered off the laptop, the cooler turned off, too.

Cons: I recently purchased a power adapter, since I was going to use the hard drive bay and I thought it would perform better with more power. It works great, but there is no easy way to turn it off after I power down my laptop, except for unplugging it.

Other Thoughts: The other reviewer mentioned that the plastic was cheap. It is lightweight, so I do not know how it would travel. But it is sturdy and works perfectly fine sitting on a desk.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Usb 2.0 ports in the back, right size for a 17"

Cons: Horrible air movement- even at highest speed cant feel anything move. Laptop was not cooling down at all. Has a port for a electric connector- but no power brick. Really cheap plastic. Had to light matches to even be sure it was displacing air.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this- I have my RMA already
