Targus GRILL Mat For NETBOOKS

Pros: -Not too loud.

-Hasn't broken...YET

-USB cord has a small compartment underneath for storage.

-Might get a kick out of my review title, modified to fit product for accuracy.

Cons: -Rubber pads slide around on my desk with even the slightest nudge, hardly any grip.

-It is a balancing act to prevent laptop from wobbling around when typing. Mat is simply too small even for my 15.4" which it claims to support.

-I don't really care much about visual appeal for something sitting under my laptop out of view, but if you're a person who likes it to be cosmetically pleasing then this hunk of junk won't be your match. Bland and lifeless design leaves much to be desired.

-Cheap/flimsy materials seem like they would break easily as marked by reviews on other sites around the net for this product. Made from 100% Happy Meal toy plastic.

-I call it a GRILL mat for NETBOOKS because it doesn't cool my notebook at all while idling OR gaming. I'm not exaggerating on this one. When playing a graphically intensive game my graphics card would be around 80-86C before I got this cooler. It is still that high with the cooler, staying on the hotter side of that range if anythi

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't write such a harsh review unless it had truth to it. This 'Chill Mat' has not lowered my internal temperature even a single degree according to monitoring tools. Basically a chunk of plastic under your laptop is all it serves as. CPU and graphics card stayed exact same temps. Wouldn't recommend.

All over the web I have seen tons of reviews about it breaking or being lousy. I've only had it a day so luckily it hasn't broken yet. I plan to return it soon.

This might cool a NETbook a degree or two. Don't waste your time trying this out on any laptop with decent performance whatsoever.

Big Bust

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: It is quiet and fits under a 14 inch laptop nicely. It did cool the laptop reasonably well with CPU intensive apps (VS 2008 and SQL Server 2005)

Cons: It broke in under a week. The left fan has stopped spinning and the right fan is already hitting it's casing and will soon stop spinning. I'll return to the retailer tomorrow.

Other Thoughts: It has a light and cheap design, the plastic fan guards will hit the fan if you press on them which happens often when you pick the fan and laptop up.

Best advice: look for another fan....
