ASUS Arctic Square 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler

  • 2300 ±10% RPM with PWM control
  • 36.5 CFM
  • Copper Base + Aluminum Fin + 4 Copper Heat Pipes
ICON Loading...

Asus provides a quiet upper-level CPU cooling solution with the Arctic Square. A bit larger than the average cooler, the Arctic Square uses that increased area for increased cooling capacity. Its 92mm 2300RPM fan lies at the core of the nickel-plated aluminum cooling fins.

Heat is drawn from the CPU to this double array through 4 sealed 6mm copper heat pipes. The already quiet fan is muffled by its location at the heart of the cooler and PWM functionality enables it to operate even quieter when thermal need is low. The entire heat sink is plated in nickel for a sleek look and the internal blue LED lights create a glow effect that will enhance your system's appearance.

The Arctic Square comes with different mounting brackets to fit both AMD socket 754, 939, 940 AM2 & LGA775 processors and Intel socket 775 CPUs. Installation is simple and quick and only requires a screwdriver. Whether you're pushing your processors to the limit with the latest first-person shooter, or merely typing e-mails, the Arctic Square will keep your system frosty.

  • newegg Effective Heat Dissipation The copper base and 4 copper heatpipes conduct heat fast and the ladder-shaped high-density aluminum fins maximize heat dissipation.
  • newegg Inner Fan Technology A large 92mm cooling fan positioned inside the frame optimizes airflow for superior cooling performance. Plus the VRM shield guides cool air to critical components around the CPU for stable operation.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The ASUS Arctic Square features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940, AM2/AM2+, and socket F (1207)/1207+ platforms, as well as the Intel LGA 775 platform.

4 out of 5 eggsGood cooler, however troublesome for certain mobos

Pros: -Durability
-Good performance for 2 years and counting
-Awesome shiny chrome look to it
-Includes blue LEDs to give your case some more character in the dark

Cons: The part which attaches to the motherboard to lock the cooler into place is pretty wide and will not fit properly on some motherboards due to heatsinks for the northbridge.

Other Thoughts: It only fit sideways on my motherboard, so my arctic square blows air toward the top of the case rather than toward the back. This probably increases my temps a bit because my case's intake fans can't effectively blow into the intake side of this cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Cooler

Pros: I have this sitting on top of an E8400 Wolfdale mounted on a P5Q Pro OC'd to 4 gigs, 1700 FSB; and at idle my CPU hovers at about 80ish degrees. On a full load, it occasionally goes over 100 degrees; and the Arctic Silver that's on it hasn't even cured yet!

Cons: Seems like it might put some stress on a cheap MB, otherwise; none that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: When the Arctic Silver cures, I imagine I will be seeing full load temps of under 100 degrees. AND it looks cool!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Cooler

Pros: This Cooler Works Great.

Cons: Not Really. I Had A Little Trouble With The Mounting System Hitting My Nothbridge Heat Sink But Over-came That Problem Easily.

Other Thoughts: If You Don't Care About The Blue Light Go With The V-60. Same Cooler Without The Light And A Better Mounting System.

5 out of 5 eggsFreakin big

Pros: I looks great in the case, does a sweet job cooling.
went from 35c no load to 29c no load. at full load 43-45c full load 33c. Easy to install ( mobo have to be removed ) I put it on a ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AM3 DDR3 mobo

Cons: You have to have a large case. its bigger than u think.
It fits nice in my Antec 900. Yes you have to remove the mobo to install. some ppl say you have to wait 200hrs to breakin the thermal compound to true cooling. idk.

Other Thoughts: Antec Nine Hundred

AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz Socket AM3 95W
OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 DDR3 1600

5 out of 5 eggsgreat cooler if you don't want the led

Pros: this is a great cooler plenty of heat pipes, dropped my Q6600 from 50c idle to 35c at idle using Antec thermal compound.

Cons: BIG, just fit in my Antec p180 case, leds are hardly seen.

Other Thoughts: overall this is a great cpu cooler, although the Zalman coolers may be better.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Arctic Square CPU Cooler

Pros: Looks good and does the job well. Noted a 5 to 12 degree drop when installed verses an AMD furnished HSF.

Cons: Same as the other reviewer's issue. The ASUS motherboard configuration required me to rotate it so it the fans at the top of my Coolermaster case did the heat exhausting verses the fans in the back. Admittedly a very minor point as it did nothing to significantly impact the performance.

Other Thoughts: As good as this looked, it prompted me to add a couple other blue LED fans. Now, I am expecting a clear side panel so I can see it in all its glory!

4 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: Its better than a stock cooler. It let me overclock my Q6600 to 3ghz comfortably. I dont really want to get any higher temps than what it is, but i dont think i'll be needing more than 3ghz. It has blue lights that light up the surrounding area on the motherboard a lil bit. I think I lost roughly 10c from the stock cooler at load and upto 8c on idle, not bad.

Cons: The fan could really be stronger, I mean, come on 30 some cfm? thermaltake makes an 80mm fan that does closer to 75cfm and this is a 92mm, so you could probably make it to like 85cfm. come ON. It just barley clears my northbridge fan on my evga 750i 4 the win mobo it doesnt hit it tho, so I guess its not an issue. If you have ur mobo in your case when you install this thing, I wish you great luck, I did that and it was almost impossible, but if you install it outside of the case should be a peice of cake.

Other Thoughts: stock fan Q6600 @ 3ghz
load 65c+ ( I didnt like going above 65 )
idle 32-35c

this fan
load (using prime 95 after 6 tests) 55 - 59 ( between 58 and 59)
idle ~27-31 depending on core

5 out of 5 eggsgreat! cool

Pros: this is a great cooler! it cooled my core 2 quad q6600 from 50c to 36c

Cons: I don't have a core 2 extreme.

Other Thoughts: note: you have to take out the mother board to install this cooler

5 out of 5 eggsCool. Quiet. Shiny.

Pros: Now that I have my Asus Arctic Square I don't have to keep my cpu in the freezer! It runs like a champ and doesn't make a sound. It looks like one of the heads on a Vtwin motorcycle engine.

Cons: the blue led isn't quite bright enough to serve as a night lite for my dogs

Other Thoughts: Core temp dropped to 23 degrees
