4 out of 5 eggsSuitable Cooler for AMD 45W OEM CPUS

Pros: What I like about this cooler is its reasonable cost, quiet operation and satisfactory performance keeping a 45W AMD BE-2400 cool (~35C) during normal usage. Fan is very quiet and moves a moderate amount of air through the heatsink and over the motherboard. This cooler has a profile lower than AMD stock cooler and seems to look better on my motherboard. Heatsink body is made of extruded aluminum with a base surface and thickness typical of OEM coolers and has a pre-applied thermal compound. Build quality is comparable to AMD stock cooler (see caveats below).

Cons: Not a PVM fan (unlike the AMD stock cooler). Latching device is of light construction adequate for one or two installations. Be gentle with this latch during installation of heatsink on the motherboard. Fan mounting is made of brittle plastic and not as robust as that of the AMD stock cooler. But if handled with sufficient care will work fine. I believe this cooler is not suitable for CPUs with 65W or greater TDP (see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: This is an inexpensive CPU cooler suitable for AMD 45W OEM CPUs. Cooler has acoustic and thermal performance comparable to the stock AMD cooler. Good choice for an efficient micro-ATX PC with 45W class OEM processors. Heatsink mounted without interference on an ASUS M3A78-EM 780G Micro ATX motherboard. With a 45W BE-2400 during idle average temperature was 30C. During Prime95 torture test (with both cores over 30 minutes) temperature reached a stable maximum of 51C (at 45W). This is adequate performance achieved with the pre-applied thermal compound. You might shave off 2-3 degrees with Arctic Silver 5. Based on this experience, I think this cooler would be challenged by a CPU with a Thermal Design Power of 65W or greater during Prime95 torture test with maximum temperature scaling to 70C (51C * 65W / 45W). Fan does not move enough air to accommodate 65W. I recommend something better for a CPU with 65W or greater TDP.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value!!

Pros: Came pre-greased and ready to go. Great for my entry level AM2 CPU.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Should have looked closer to see it was already greased, would have saved me $5 (grease and shipping).

3 out of 5 eggsheat sink too light

Pros: Nice 95mm fan....runs, is quiet

Cons: doesn't cool things as well as stock AMD heatsinks and fans......the heat sink feels like an empty beer can compared to others.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend on anything bigger than an AMD Athlon X2 5000+.

1 out of 5 eggsFail...

Pros: It's a heatsink, and it actually runs.
It also has a 3 pin connector.

Cons: If you're looking for a good CPU cooler for new-ish processors, then this isn't for you. I bought this Heatsink because the Athlon 6000+ I bought was OEM and didn't come with a heatsink. I put this heatsink on the CPU and secured it with the stock thermal paste and it idled at around 50 celcius, that's too high for my likings. So I switched the thermal paste to Artic Silver Ceramique paste, and now it Idles at 70 celcius. The fan doesn't move close to enough air.

Other Thoughts: I opened up BIOS and looked at my PC health and saw that the CPU was idling at 72 degrees Celsius, and decided that this heatsink sucks.
If you're going to put this on anything more than a 2.5GHZ dual core Athlon, then don't waste your time with this heatsink.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap!
Great Airflow
Pretty Quiet

Cons: Small plastic air fins collect dust very quickly

Other Thoughts: As long as you keep the fins clean this is an amazing heatsink, it's acceptably quiet, and preforms amazingly.
