Excalibur, as the name suggests, is inspired by the legendary sword of King Arthur from the middle ages. The nine massive sword-shaped blades are designed to produce exceptionally high air pressure, which fortify the cooling efficiency when used in dense water cooling radiators or performance heatsinks.

This is the first fan from Cooler Master to adopt Barometric Ball Bearing (BBB) technology.

  • newegg Barometric Ball Bearing (BBB) Technology The innovative Barometric Ball Bearing technology provides longer life span while remaining lower noise level.
  • newegg Removable Sword-Shaped Blades with Triangular Blade Tips The Cooler Master Excalibur R4-EXBB-20PK-R0 is equipped with nine massive sword-shaped blades which generate outstanding high air pressure with balanced airflow for exceptionally cooling efficiency. Triangular blade tips reduce turbulence at fan edges and decrease wind shear noise while keeping maximum sweeping area. The blades are removable for quick and easy cleaning.
  • newegg Honeycomb Ventilation Meshed Frame The honeycomb ventilation meshed frame works as a secondary intake to increase airflow under low fan speed operation, or helps reduce noise by releasing excessive turbulence and vibration when the fan spins at high speed.
  • newegg Sturdy Structure The Cooler Master Excalibur R4-EXBB-20PK-R0 features 3-piece frame with metal rim for robust structure.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise, a total performance solution at high and low speed operation.

Pros: Nice looking fan. Have HAF922 case so can see from outside. Moves more air then rear 120 CM fan that came on case. I small drop on water cooler temp with rear fan config (-.5 max) with stock fan on cooler front side.

Cons: Can't tell much for the sound level because case full of fans for overclock.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat fans

Pros: My CPU is cool.

Cons: My computer sounds like an airplane.

Other Thoughts: I don't sleep in the same room as my computer, and I wear headphones... even so, I regret getting 2 of these for my water cooling radiator. Every day when I get home I'm subjected to a blast of white noise until I get used to it after a few minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Lady of the Lake would not object to their namesake.

Pros: High air flow, mounts horizontally/vertically, lots of adapters, removable blades, aesthetics (black w/o silly lights), PWM, relatively inexpensive.

Cons: Loud at high speeds, but still moves a lot of air and quiets down with a controller as mentioned previously. The blade assembly is somewhat difficult to remove and it's very easy to draw blood when it lets go via the sharp plastic cutting fingers, break a fin or, in my case. Oops!

Other Thoughts: I'm relatively ...nimble and even after cutting myself once when removing the blades, managed to do it again. For future revisions, may I suggest the finger "guards" be dulled rather than serrated and that the blade assembly be made easier to remove? Admittedly, I didn't R.T.F.M . before attempting to clean 'em, so five eggs just the same as I'm sure it wasn't a trap despite it taking a bite out of me twice. Wield excalibur with care when removing the blades or just use a toothbrush as with other fans.

4 out of 5 eggsGood if you have the mobo

Pros: Quiet (more on this later)
Relatively cheap
Move a lot of air through for their size

Cons: VERY VERY LOUD if used with a 3-pin on the motherboard (I used the included adapter). Will no doubt be louder than your stock case fan if you have a decent case (mine is the rosewill challenger).

Other Thoughts: I made the mistake of not making sure my motherboard had more than one 4-pin slot before I bought it, so I am running only one of these fans instead of the planned two. Before installing that one fan, my case was remarkably quiet for stock fans. When I installed both, it was absurdly loud. Now with only one fan connected to the 4-pin connector, my left-over stock fan is the louder of the two, which is as it should be. Don't trust the adapters - they suck. Even after adjusting the fan speed in the bios and downloading SpeedFan, I still couldn't get that noise down.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome fan

Pros: not load like other say. these are quite! sure there are quiter fans, however these out perform them. look at the specs and compare them....these win! great cpu cooler fan.

Cons: I thought the cable length was too long....go figure. most are not long enough. ...these I had to wrap around and seriously plan on how to route them. no big issue really, just sayin

Other Thoughts: comparing cpu 120mm fans to others, these are the best. I did my homework. saving you the time, just buy for cpu cooler!!

5 out of 5 eggsCFM+high mmh2O isn't silent

Pros: Blowing through a high FPI rad, like the H100 on my server, I want something like this. High mmh20. For the amount of pressure and CFMs these deliver, the noise is, my subjective opinion from building rigs over the last 15+ years, low. It is not a 'silent' case fan, however. If you are looking for that, look elsewhere. I also have some Corsair SP HP fans on my XSPC 360 rad on the gamer, they are louder and produce less static pressure. They whine really much more loudly, and I run them down about 30%. The Silverstones and Thermaltake are noisier, and less pressure. Yates use sleeve bearings that don't hold up long term, and again less static pressure. Enermax makes some good case fans, some are quite quiet, like the one with the orange blades, but again they don't provide the pressure. And the Antecs I've used were low CFM case fans. If you are looking for something to get air through high restriction you can't get much better than this with this noise level. I love that they don't have LEDs, as they are in a 24x7 server in the bedroom. They replaced some XSPC fans that were noisier with less static pressure. I also like that they come PWM, with 3pin and molex adapters. I know I used the word 'pressure' a lot here, but that's what this fan is about, a good amount of _push_ through radiator fins. This isn't a case fan.

Cons: Not really best for a case fan, where you can get away with less pressure and noise. And I miss the old days when fans came with grills...

Other Thoughts: If you want 'silent', 'low noise', 'whisper quiet' or whatever, then live with static pressure below 2, and CFM below about 50 in a 120mm fan. Don't expect whatever you get to work well attached to a large CPU cooler with dense fins or a high FPI rad. If you need a fan for these applications, and are willing to pick up some noise to get optimum results, this is a good choice.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid high performance fans..

Pros: These fans move the air when you need them to...They last well and I have 6 of these fans running in my gaming pc's and have had no issues at all..
I do use fan controllers on all fans in my gaming pc's to limit the rpm's.I'm sure if you just plug these fans in and run them at 2000rpm's thet are loud like anyother performance fan is.I have not had this issue at all and my fans only run as loud as I let them.
Don't let bad reviews that must be from people running these fans at max rpm keep you from ordering one of the best fans I have used to date.I have fans that are louder and were higher in price and move less air at higher rpm's..
These are good fans and they do the job I ordered them to do(cool my pc's off)....

Cons: I have had no cons with this fan...I use fan controllers in all my pc's and this fan is not loud at all running around 1200 to 1500 rpm's..

Other Thoughts: You will need to use a good fan controller with high performance fans to limit the rpm's in any pc you build or upgrade.
If people are haveing issues with this fan being loud, then they must be let running them at max or near max rpm's.
This fan moves more air at lower rpm's than most fans I have used and I have used alot of fans over the years of building my own gaming pc's..
I have had better performance with coolermaster fans than anyother fan I have ordered. This fan is like all coolermaster fans, it works well and it last for years..
