Redefining cooling performance for space restricted environments, GeminII M4 is engineered to maximize cooling with its minimal CPU contact gaps and four extremely efficient direct contact heat pipes that provide excellent heat dissipation. Pros: Quiet and fits in my Grandia HTPC case...

Cons: The bottom of the heat sink is not at all level or smooth, with large gaps between the heat pipes where thermal paste collects and warm air pockets can form. My CPU was idling hot (70C) and overheating under load, causing the computer to shut off. I tried reapplying the thermal paste and remounting the heat sink, but it didn't help. Why on earth does the bottom of this thing not have a smooth, polished finish like every other CPU cooler I've used?

Other Thoughts: With the stock cooler installed, the A6-3650 APU in my HTPC idles in the low 30s and hits the low 40s under load. How did Cooler Master manage to make something so much worse than a stock cooler?

Pros: Cools Great!
Very Quiet!

Cons: None as of yet.

Other Thoughts: This fits perfectly in my low profile Silverstone MILO ML03B HTPC case. Sound is barely noticeable and is used to cool my Socket AM3+ processor.

Pros: It looks cool! It is big, and seems to keep my CPU around 40°C. Stays quiet.

Cons: I wish there was holes in the fins for the other two screws. Considering I had to take out the CPU a couple of times, taking out the cooler was a pain to deal with on two of the screws.

Other Thoughts: I remember when I had asked Cooler Master for the specs of the unit for fitment with a particular case, they was a month late contacting me. Not soo good customer service there. Good thing the CPU is good.

Pros: Lower temps. I averaging nice low temps in the 28 to 30 C marks. It normally was in the 42 and 50 C range. This fan and heat sink is great. Just be careful and make sure to install the thermal paste as that really helps with transferring the heat from processor to the massive heat sink.

Cons: Have to remove the motherboard to install. The bracket has to be installed from under side the motherboard. As this is a con for the install, but a pro for the quality of the product. RAM on some motherboards will not fit this heat sink and fan. It did fit on mine, but I know other boards might have trouble clearing ram sockets or if you have very large heat sinks on your ram it might conflict with the space.

Other Thoughts: Price is good, temp is really good. If your unsure of how to take apart a computer this fan might need to be install professionally. As you do need to remove the motherboard in order to mount.

Pros: Easy to install bracket is secured by four large nuts. Direct heat pipes. Quiet and long lasting.

Cons: Overhangs memory and key motherboard screws. Only go for this if you have a very hot CPU that is crying out for quiet fan and direct heat pipes.

Other Thoughts: Reduced my core temp on FX 8350 by 5C,. Fast cooling of liquid without the expense. Large fan helps cool north bridge and memory.

Pros: Much quieter than the standard AMD heatsink/fan.

Replaced stock fan/heatsink in HTPC use, and I've hit a max of 53C after running a playlist of 1080P flash videos overnight (something that would get past 85C and cause thermal shutdown with the standard heatsink/fan after a couple hours - the HTPC isn't in a place with the best ventilation).

Idles in the 30-35C range, with moderate usage in 40-45C range (with stock it was idling in the 40-45C range and moderate usage would take it to 55-65C).

Easy to swap out the fan if needed/desired. Has a couple thin wires holding it in a makeshift bracket of sorts, which would be easy to disconnect from the stock fan and should fit any 120mm fan with standard screw holes.

The stock fan seems to be working well and mounted adequately (though, being an HTPC, I do have the computer set so that the motherboard is horizontal, rather than the normal vertical tower usage, so the bracket isn't exactly stressed at all).

Cons: As mentioned by others, the four heatpipes sit directly on the CPU (not a problem) and have a bit of a gap between the edge of the pipes and the other metal of the cpu/heatsink interface (it's not flush or smooth, which could be a problem). There are 8 of those edges/gaps (one for each edge of the heatpipe x 4 heatpipes) and they stretch across the entire face of the interface.
Thus far I've had no problems with heat, so it seems to be working ok, but it could be a possible issue in the future or for those with a hotter running cpu.

Instead of using the usual circle or x shape of thermal paste (using AS 5), I put small lines on each heatpipe, with a small circle in the middle, so as to hopefully fill in those gaps between the cpu and the heatsink.

As mentioned by others, there is the possible con that the heatsink is low but wide - for my setup it would've gone over my ram in one orientation (not hitting the modules, but only maybe 1/16" clearance over them), and after turning it 90 degrees, it is still right up next to the slots (I could still get it out to change or upgrade if needed, but it'd be tight)

Case - Silverstone ML03B

It's not specified very well on newegg, but on my box it notes the sockets supported are:
Intel 2011, 1366, 1156, 1155, 1150, 775
AMD fm2, fm1, am3+, am3, am2

In the setup above, I have a good inch or two over the fan before hitting the case - it really is a small heatsink (smaller than the stock AMD one), it's just really wide.

Mounting directions were good. For this AMD mount they had separate brackets for if you wanted it mounted normally or rotated 90 degrees. I believe the single Intel mount just allows you to rotate it without actually using a different bracket.
Annoyingly, you will probably have to remove the motherboard from the case (unless you can get to the four or so inches around the cpu socket from the bottom side a different way).
It uses the same mounting system as much larger coolers from the same company (such as the V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP, which I have two of; probably a bit of overkill on mounting hardware vs the size of the heatsink) - you screw the brackets onto the heatsink corresponding with your socket (AMD or Intel), put it through the holes on the mobo, put on a backplate, and bolt it on (usually being a tricky maneuver for those without 3-4 arms or someone else to help them hold it while bolting - and yes, actual bolts, not screws).

But yes, working well and I'm happy thus far!

Pros: So much better cooling than stock. decent profile.

Cons: It's about a year and none so far

Other Thoughts: Bought this to cool an office computer and does its job. NO problems with standard RAM clearance, and fans falling off. There are grooves underneath the fins. I had it mount on vertical motherboard and no problems at all for about a year now.

Pros: It does an EXCELLENT job cooling and is, compared to the stock AMD heatsink fan, whisper quiet.

Cons: The base isn't flat and has deep grooves between the heatpipes. This, of course, requires different TIM application methods compared to flat-based heatsinks.

It is wide and only fits one way for AMD boards, dependent on how the board's original mounting bracket is placed. This means poor compatibility for mini-itx motherboards, as this heatsink can easily block PCIe slots and ram slots. If you do proper research, this shouldn't be a problem.

Other Thoughts: I didn't do my research. I bought a great product that just wasn't for my motherboard, a Gigabyte F2A88XN-Wifi FM2+ board.

The heatsink wasn't rotatable 90 degrees, so I lost both my first ram slot (standard height ram would not fit, I suspect low-profile wouldn't also) and my PCIe slot. The heatsink was also right over my CPU 4-pin plugin spot, so it made it incredibly hard to plug in my power supply.

Had I done proper research before buying this heatsink, and basic observations, I would never have bought this heatsink and my problems would have been non-existent.

Things to look for when using this in a mini-itx build are:

1. How far are the ram slots compared to the socket?

*Note that mounting brackets perpendicular to the ram slots may mean you will lose one of your ram slots, since you won't be able to turn the heatsink 90 degrees.

2. How close is my socket to the PCIe slot?

*never be willing to bend your graphics card to make it fit, it needs to be level and not touching the CPU heatsink.

3. Where are my audio/usb/CPU power plugs on the motherboard? Will the heatsink obscure them or keep me from being able to easily add or remove the plugs?

Keep these things in mind and I'm sure none of you will relive my stupidity.

Pros: Good cooling capacity. Nice and quite operation. Using this on LGA1156 board in a small HTPC case.

Cons: Backplate for necessary for LGA1156 socket can pose problems with some Gigabyte motherboards. My motherboard, GA-H55N-USB3 (rev. 1.0) has a couple of chips on the underside of the board, right next to the CPU cooler attachment holes so the backplate presses on a couple of those chips.
