1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Somewhat quiet, keeps cpu cool.

Cons: The heat sink fan has very poor mounting latches. Continuously slides down heat sink over time, contacting my GPU. Could not find a way to keep it secure. Ended up tossing it and reusing stock heatsink.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the Geminii M4. The Geminii M4 does have a 2 year warranty so you can submit a part request for the replacement fan clips.

Please contact us if you have any further questions.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: low profile

Cons: terrible heat transfer, loose fan, rattles when running

Other Thoughts: I am using this on an AMD A10-7700. At 15% load, the CPU temp was 110*C. I thought I did something wrong. I took off the cooler, reapplied all the thermal paste, double and triple checked my steps and installed it again. What do you know, over 100C again. I am using this in a CoolerMaster Elite 110 case, with an upgraded 140mm fan feeding the front of the case. There is NO reason for this CPU to be running this hot under such a small load. Useless cooler, will not buy a low pro cooler from coolermaster again.

2 out of 5 eggsCould've been good, apparently received a dud.

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: It's quiet.

Cons: For AMD systems, it requires its own backplate for no good reason. This requires removing the board from the chassis, which for most compact systems, means unbuilding the entire computer if you're upgrading an already-built system.

The mounting bracket needed for AM3+ was received bent and had to be bent back before it could be used.

To my surprise, after a difficult and prolonged installation, it struggled to cool the CPU (FX-8370) under moderate load, or even under idle. I used MX-4 thermal compound and made sure it was properly installed and seated flat against the CPU. I took it off, and it would appear the heatpipes weren't aligned/level with the metal base, leaving large air gaps between the cooler and the CPU.

I at least kept the fan because it worked well. The rest went into the trash.

Other Thoughts: I probably got very unlucky, but all that went wrong here screams terrible QA from Cooler Master. A massive disappointment.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the GeminII M4. Majority of our coolers come with a backplate that you must use so I apologize if this requires you to remove the motherboard.

I would definitely suggest contacting us in the future so that we can assist in recommending an appropriate cooler. The GeminII M4 will not be able to cool an FX-8370 so this is why you are having cooling issues.

For that CPU, I would suggest looking at a Hyper 212 EVO or a Nepton 120XL.

The GeminII M4 does come with a 2 year warranty so please contact us if you need any replacement parts.

1 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Cool design. Very Quiet

Cons: Bearing went out after 5 months. Called support. They were back ordered 3 weeks. Couldn't wait that long. So I had to buy another one because of my case design. I don't recommend this product unless you have limited room.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsEasy to install, but Blocked a Connector!

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: The easy install kit was simple! I just identified my socket type and went with the flow. I had that thing on there in 30 minutes' time. Plus the slim profile isn't as bulky like the last kit I ordered.

Cons: I don't know why they chose a 120mm surface area as opposed to 80mm, because when it went down to hooking the motherboard and everything else back up, I had to take the fan straight off just to get the 4+4 connector hooked up. This still blocks some of your RAM sockets as well. It took me 30 minutes to get the fan put back on due to the fact they had to use thin, steel wires rather than screws.

Other Thoughts: I might not have tested idle and load cooling performance yet, but I want to be double-sure I applied just the right amount of thermal paste. The fan design isn't all that bad, but I wasn't expecting it to run that much more quieter than any cooler on the market.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooler, see below

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Cool, quiet, small... What else is there?

Cons: Read instructions for thermal paste application, says to apply a thin layer to cpu instead of a dot.... I'm assuming to compensate the gaps. I did it this way and the 7700k runs nice and cool, even OC a bit on cpu and gpu.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan - very Quite and Low Profile

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: 1.) Very Very Quiet Fan
2.) Low Profile
3.) 4 Heatpipes for better cooling
4.) Fan can be moved slightly to not cover up an Memory Slots
5.) Large fan which moves more air
6.) Hardware is solid and easy to install

Cons: 1.) The small metal brackets that hold the fan to the heatsink are quite thin and fragile
2.) Fan is large and can block memory slots depending on your layout. (Use low profile memory modules and you should be fine as the fan can be moved slightly)

Other Thoughts: I purchased this fan from Newegg back in September of 2014. I installed it in a low profile HTPC case running an AMD A series CPU. This box gets lots of hours as it is used to watch movies on. It is very important that the computer is quiet while watching movies and this CPU is Perfect for that purpose!

5 out of 5 eggs6 months later

This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Best air cooler for the money, even cools the memory, plenty of air flow, and quiet.

Cons: Can be a little tight in a small case with large hands but nothing to whine about.

Other Thoughts: Running a FX4350 @ 4420 MHz for 6 months with idle temps @ 24C average and 50C under load, will buy again for next build.
