4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The instruction were pretty straight forward so installation was a easy. This baby keeps my Asus 4830HD very cool at 36c since my stock cooler fan recently became dead in the water. Decided to push it card with futuremark and the temps rose to 49c which was acceptable. Like that it had adjustable air duct and the hardware wasn't flimsy.

Cons: the heat sinks were a little big, probably fit better on the nvidia cards.

Other Thoughts: If you don't do any overclocking and want a alternative replacement if the factory hardware is not doing its job or fails. This model does the job and priced reasonably.

1 out of 5 eggsDepends on your video card

Pros: It's one of the few coolers that moves hot air out of the case. Depending on your video card, you may see some big benefits (as others have posted).

Cons: It resulted in worse temperatures than my stock cooler (ATI 4870).

Other Thoughts: On paper, this seems like the way to go. And after I installed it, I put my hand behind the cooler and could definitely feel the hot air coming out. The problem is that the heat sink is not all that big. Definitely smaller than my stock. So on the 4870, the heat sink gets hot pretty quick. But the fan alone is not sufficient to remove the heat from the sink. Plus the heat sink is encased in the plastic vent that blows the air out, so all that hot air is just pooled close to the card.

IMO, if you have a card that runs hot, it's better to use something like the Zalman VF1000 + a PCI slot exhaust fan. The Zalman has a heat sink that's probably 2.5-3x as large. And the surface area is probably even more.

5 out of 5 eggsFits in Standard 3+ Slot HTPC case / ITX case

Pros: - Fairly quiet.
- Lowered temps from 90c load to 68c load @ stock clocks.
- Idles at 42c.
- Works perfectlywith the integrated fan controller (20% fan speed does not shut off the fan, as it did with a botched replacement 50mm fan I was temporarily using)
- Can now play any game at 1920x1080 without my video card overheating. Was not possible before.
- Can overclock now, topping 74c load.

Cons: No low profile bracket included. Not really a con, since this product was not designed for low profile video cards.

Other Thoughts: Fan on my Sapphire Radeon 4650 (Low Profile) began to fail, not that it was any good to begin with. (Temps reached 80c on load) I searched for a while to find a replacement, and this was the only one that seemed like it would fit my case, which is a standard 4 slot HTPC (Low profile). With the replacement fan I was using, I was crippled from playing any GPU-intensive games. So, I ordered it. After installation, it just BARELY fit the case. The rear bracket had to be removed completely, but the slider at the end of the cooling compartment stayed in place because of the low profile bracket of the video card. Also, because of the small VRAM chips, i had to cut the included ram sinks into half pieces in order for them to fit. It would seem at this size the effectiveness of the sinks is marginally or almost useless, but I left them on anyways.

4 out of 5 eggsWould recommend

Pros: Dropped GPU temps by 15C and dramatically lowered air temp inside case due to heat being exhausted directly out.

Cons: Video RAM is cooled only passively. Fan is a bit weak.

Other Thoughts: Be careful installing the RAM heatsinks. The thermal tape is chintzy and the fins can later fall off if you are not careful. (Imagine tossing a penny onto your motherboard while it's running and hoping it doesn't short anything out.)

4 out of 5 eggsI like

Pros: Exhausts heat directly out rear of case.
Very smooth and polished contact surface.
Quiet.

Cons: I wish the fan pushed more CFMs. It's not wimpy, but it could be a bit stronger. Also the fan has no RPM sensor. One egg off for a less than stellar fan.

Other Thoughts: This cooler really makes a difference in an SFF case by getting the video card's heat out of the case instead of recirculating hot air inside the case. Solidly installed on an XFX 9800GT with good alignment and fit, although I had to cut some metal off of my video card's mounting bracket to make room for the air duct. This is only a problem with certain brackets that have a metal tab on the inside.

3 out of 5 eggsBFG 7800 GS

Pros: Nice overall design.

Cons: Would not fit my BFG 7800 GS card

Other Thoughts: The specs do say VIRTUALY all cards. I guess this is one of the ones that is not included in that narrow section that doesn't. Gave it a 3 egg rating for the incompatibility.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Moves the air directly out of the case instead of moving it just inside the case. Gets the job done. Assembly is easy, but make sure nothings in the way of the bulky air duct (see below).

Cons: I wish the fan would be a little stronger.

Other Thoughts: Dropped the load temp of the GPU from 70C to 60C.
Used it for a Nvidia 9800GT and had to cut the mounting bracket of the card to have the heat sink and the GPU aligned properly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler For the $$

Pros: I actually purchased one of these 6 months ago for a failing 7600GT video card. I didn't feel like buying a new card when all that was bad was the fan. This cooler has tons of copper to draw the heat away from the chip. It does move a decent amount of heat away from the heat sink.

I am buying another one for an stock overclocked HD 2400 that is developing a bad fan. This cooler is alot better than the stock one since it did not exhaust air outside of the case.

Cons: Broke one of the little mounting nuts with the spring mechanism. You have to be fairly careful on installing this cooler since the thing weighs a ton.

Other Thoughts: I have been building computers for around 10+ years and this is one of the nicest fan coolers ive seen for the money...

although...

I really dislike the fact that this comes with a 2 pin fan connectors as well as the fact that they give you a 2 pin- 4 pin molex connector converter cable. Its not really a con, to me its just a lack of attention to detail. In my opinion, its just one more ugly piece of junk wire bundle that I have to hide or spice into.

But...

It is still one of the better coolers on the market. I would recommend this cooler to anyone looking to replace a stock video card cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy This Its Perfect

Pros: This thing dramatically decreases your temp of your GPU core and memory plus it allowed me to overclock the core 50mhz higher and the memory 20mhz higher with barely any increase in heat. I definitely recommend this to anyone that has a GPU that recycles the case heat, and or a poor aluminum heat sink. And I didn't really know if it would fit my screw configuration since I have a PNY VCG961024GXPB 9600 GT but it does I just used pins #3 on the cooler and perfect fit. And if you were like me and wondered how it would be variable enough in terms of length, it using a sliding system for the exhaust duct so no matter how long or short the card is it will fit. And I don't really know why so many people had problems with the heat or the adhesives for the memory, my adhesives work the first time no problems and as for the heat I think they maybe didn't read the directions and take off the thin protective layer on the bottom of the copper heat sink on the cooler.

Cons: It would have been nice to have a little bit more CFM, it pushes a lot of air in the first place but a little more could go a long way, and possibly some LEDs, and should really update the compatibility chart

Other Thoughts: So I was really contemplating on whether I should get this or not based off the other reviews some saying it would work others not. And most of the people saying it wouldn't work had bigger cards, and I have a 9600 GT. But the fan went out on mine so I had to buy something and I chose this because it exhausts out the case and doesn't doesn't recycle it. And let me tell you I am really glad I did. My card's original design is terrible on this thing the aluminum heat sink didn't even cover all the RAM chips and the fan barely pushed any air out, and worst of all the fan blew it towards the back of the card raising the temps on everything of the card and case, worst design I've ever seen, my GPU core temp was 60 or higher at idle and around 80 at peak. So I modded the fan to use a 12v rail instead and dropped the idle to 51 and peak to 74. But with this cooler it idles at 39 and peaks at 64 and thats with the overclock. Oh and Vantec, nicely well done, perfect design and idea

4 out of 5 eggsGood Cooler

Pros: I have an 8600GT. With the stock fan and heat sink my idle/load temps were 55/95. After I installed this they are now 35/50. I really like that is exhausts the hot air out of the back of the case.

Cons: The surface was a little rough, but it wasn't too bad to lap it. The spring screws that mount the fan to the card were way too strong. Just putting them on enough to hold the fan in place, put so much pressure on my gpu it wouldn't run. I ended up cutting the springs shorter and it works great now.

Other Thoughts: Good cooler for the price.
