For the PC-enthusiast who wants a desktop that looks sizzling hot, yet stays cool, check out the Zalman CNP9500 AM2 CPU Cooler featuring a fan and heatsink! This hi-tech cooling device lends an edgy, industrial look to your PC with its cool silver finish and LCD light that glows fiery green.
The copper heatsink saves space with an architecturally sound 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the adjustable fan’s 92mm blades and 2 ball bearings. A FAN MATE 2 controller and cable are included with your durable Zalman CPU Cooler, allowing you to switch between an 18 dB/2600 RPM ‘Silent’ mode and a 27 dB/2750 RPM ‘Low Noise’ mode.
Compatible with Socket 754, 939, 940 and the latest AM2 platforms, the Zalman Pro works flawlessly with most late model AMD CPUs, including: all AMD Sempron, Opteron, and Athlon 64, 64 X2, and 64 FX desktops. For ultra-cool protection and aggressive styling, the Zalman CPU Cooler is the way to go.
Pros: Very efficient cooling. CPU (Athalon X2 4800+) runs at 35C with both bay doors off and no other fans running, about 25C all closed up with case fans running. Lots of surface area to dissipate heat. One of the better non-liquid cooling systems I have used.
Cons: The fins are SHARP, I just about cut my thumb off on one, literally, the Doc I work for sent me to the ER to get it stitched up. Installation instructions are not the greatest ever. Due to its size there are potential case and mbd compatibility issues. Had a little trouble with getting it to sit properly on my Asus A8N32-SLI board as it wanted to rub the heatpipes on the board.
Other Thoughts: Great service and shipping from Newegg as always. Overall I would probably rate this as the best non-liquid cooler I have dealt with (I work on the side as freelance comp tech, $xxx an hour, and have built over 1000 systems). This one is for me though  and it is good to know I will be well served by my CPU cooler. Liquid systems are just a pain for home machines unless you plan on seriously overclocking. Even with some of the cons it is a great unit. I have been using the older Zalmans for years and have always been satisfied.

Pros: This is the best design on the market without being a major block of weight like many solutions. The fact it can be used for both AMD and Intel is a great plus. If properly installed with Arctic Silver heat from overclocking is significantly reduced.
Cons: Size. Make sure your motherboard will work with it (most do) and make sure there is enough room between the CPU and the power supply (or other obstructions). Fan is 3 pin so check your motherboard fan header to see if it is 3 or 4 pin. It will work on a 4 pin header but dynamic speed control may not function.
Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these now (owned 1 for almost a year) and have absolutely no complaints other than the 3 pin fan. Many newer motherboards are moving to a 4 pin CPU fan header design. 3 pin fans will work but they cannot be dynamically controlled and require a manual fan speed change from the provided controller. When applying Arctic Silver, do not smear or distribute it with a strait edge.. do not smear it, just a 'dot' about the size of 3 grains of rice in the middle of the processor and then after the heatsink is installed, rotate it left and right to spread the thermal compound. If you use too much AS or spread it. it may act as insulator insead of a thermal conductor with this product.

Pros: I have an AMD Phenom 9850 Black edition. On stock cooling, it would reach 60 C after running at 100% usage for more than a few minutes (with 60 C being the high-end of the CPU's thermal envelope). With this fan, The CPU reaches about 52 C, even after being left on full CPU usage for extended periods. It's also extremely quiet, at least by comparison: I can only barely hear it over my ceiling fan's rattle. (But I don't really care about noise output, so I'm not sure if it's quiet enough for the ultra-quiet-PC enthusiests.)
Cons: The only minor gripe is that it took me a while to install the thing, both because it wasn't immediately obvious how it was supposed to install, and because it was physically extremely difficult to apply enough force to the clip to get it to catch, at the awkward angle to it that I was. But the agony of installing the thing is temporary, and the joy of being able to use your CPU to its fullest without worrying about melting it is long-lasting. :)
Other Thoughts: One thing that's neither a clear plus nor a clear minus is that it has a little speed-adjustment nob that you hook up between the Fan and the plug-in on the board, and run outside your case. I've set it to maximum cool and left it: that thing might be a plus to anyone who *wants* to be able to turn the fan down for quieter operation, but for me, it's just extra hassle, and one more loose wire to watch. I suspect you could omit it and wire the fan directly to the board, but I haven't tried.
I would strongly recommend this fan to anyone having heat problems with a Phenom CPU -- I can't be the only one. It completely solved my thermal problems, and it was pretty cheap to boot. And it's quiet, if that's important to you.

Pros: Great fan it has kept my Athlon 64 x2 5000+ BE (3.01GHz O.C.) ICE COLD in the low 30s idle and mid 40s when under a full load (prime 95) for 2 years!!!
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Green LED's look sweet in my black Thermaltake Armor+ case with a couple other green and blue LED fans.
