4 out of 5 eggsAwesome for its age

Pros: Keeps my amd 8120 at 4Ghz under 51C using y-cruncher streets test. Neat light.

Cons: Just like the model after this (9500A), using the fan controller seems to knockoff rpms..I still use it however.

Other Thoughts: I originally bought this guy for an amd x2 6400 in 2008. I never overclocked that and never truly put it to good use. It's 2013 and I'm finally upgraded to a 8120. Here are some notes:

- it does work on AM3+. I have a GB fxa-990 ud3 and had no issues on install. Just because the mobo has 4 pins doesn't mean it won't work. It'll just be one pin short, who cares?

- some people have complaints about it not being better than the stock. Changing the cpu fan is not everything, the case and other fans should be considered and made to compliment each other.

1 out of 5 eggsNot good, not good at all

Pros: OK, as replacement for stock cooler, that's all.

Cons: Well, not for AMD, that's for sure. Failed to cool down Phenom 2 955 overclocked to 3.6GHz. Temps would reach over 60C easily.

Other Thoughts: Three pipes are not enough, design seems funky. Don't know how the air supposed to take the heat away when the fan is in the middle.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but could be better.

Pros: Works well, very quiet compared to stock cooler.

Cons: way bigger than it looks on newegg.
heatsink fins are VERY sharp, make sure youve got lots of room to install it because it can and will cut you.
fan is on the wrong side, should be blowing out towards the back, instead its either got to point towards my video card or my psu.

Other Thoughts: have this installed on an AM3+ board with Phenom II 1100T cpu. Works well once installed but honestly, it didnt cool things down anywhere near as much as i hoped over the stock cooler.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not recommend

Pros: None.
Well, maybe it looks cool?

Cons: I do not recommend this HS/F as it's over priced for the performance it delivers. I have the Cooler Master 212+ as well and tested them both, despite the CM 212+ being cheaper, it was able to keep my i7 870 10*C cooler at idle and nearly 25*C cooler under load.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a good, low cost air cooling solution then look at the Cooler Master 212+.

5 out of 5 eggsNOT AM3 COMPATIBLE!!!

Pros: I'm not going to knock any eggs off since ordering this was partially my fault. I ordered this Zalman because according to the choices, it was supposed to be AM2, AM2+, and AM3 compatible. It is NOT compatible with AM3. This Zalman has a 3-pin cpu fan connection. AM3/AM3+ is a 4-pin cpu fan connection.

Cons: None, but I shouldn't have been charged a re-stocking fee due to this fan supposedly being AM3 compatible... whatever Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Cools quite effectively. It's not loud at all. Fan speed can be changed quite fast and effectively with the knob. Consistent.

Cons: Mounting was a little bit of a trick. I was afraid I was going to crush my cpu because I couldn't keep the fan/heatsink flat when attaching to the retainer. Probably me.

Other Thoughts: Fan speed doesn't particularly matter. When doing preliminary tests of Prime95, increased fan speed didn't drop the temperature very much. With overclocking my Phenom II 965 from 3.4 to 3.8-.9, there hasn't been much change in idle and intensive temperatures, compared to the stock specs.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth my investment.

Pros: Holds its value.
I bought this originally from Newegg in 2007 for a new AMD Athlon 64 X2 and it always worked beautifully. I upgraded to an AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black with all 4 cores unlocked.
Temperature stays cool. It's currently at 37-38 C, which is about 10 degrees above my ambient room temperature.
Fan and heatsink work so well I actually turned off all the other fans on my tower except the rear stock 120 mm. The CPU fan is actually quieter.
I bought it for $49, and the price has stayed the same all this time. Another good sign it was worth the initial buy.

Cons: The "fan speed controller" never stayed on very well, and it would occasionally seemed to turn the fan-speed to very low, prompting a boot message of "You CPU fan speed is set too low" which would force a reboot until I turned the speed up.
This was easily resolved by removing the fan controller entirely.

5 out of 5 eggsGood solid CPU cooler

Pros: Excellent cooler for my trusty old socket 939 system, green "alien glow" LED lighting.

Cons: LEDs are starting to flicker and die, doesn't work well with motherboard's "smart fan" control.

Other Thoughts: This cooler has been running in my old AMD system for four years now. I had to shut off the smart fan feature in the motherboard BIOS so the fan runs full speed all the time.
Had absolutely no overheating problems with my Athlon 64 x2 4800+ processor, even with the system running 24/7 for weeks at a time.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Cooler

Pros: Quiet and good air flow. Easy to install.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My motherboard can controll the fan speed so I did not use the manual controll. This is my second cooler fan from ZALMAN.
