The Zalman CNPS 8000 cooler is designed to keep your processor cool in slim or low-profile computer cases, like those used for home-theater PCs. A set of four copper pipes quickly draw heat away from the copper base and redirects it through the dense array of aluminum fins. This design not only makes the unit lighter in weight, but allows for heat to be more rapidly spread.
Attached at the top of the assembly is an ultra-quiet 92mm fan just 18dBA when spinning at 1,400rpm. The included Fan Mate 2 control module lets you effortlessly slow or speed up the fan depending on your activity. Slow it down to silent mode when you're watching a DVD or speed it up when you're gaming.
With the included brackets, the cooler will work with Intel LGA 775 CPUs (including Core 2 Duo, Pentium D, Pentium 4, and Celeron D) , and AMD 754/939/940 K8 CPUs (including Athlon 64 X2, Athlon 64 FX, Dual-Core Opteron, Athlon 64, Opteron and Sempron).

Fits A8N-VM CSM and QPack
- Pros: Unlike most heatsinks it fits the Aspire QPack cases. I can set the fan to its lowest speed and it still does a far better job than the boxed cooler. The mounting clip is very sturdy, use a big flathead screwdriver to help clip it in place on Socket 939 systems.
- Cons: I had to remove the northbridge heatsink on my A8N-VM CSM to clip the CPU on. I almost didn't have to, a little more force might have done the trick. I moved the DIMMs to the outer two slots to keep the heatsink from touching.
- Other Thoughts: If you have a QPack, this is THE heatsink to own.
I cried
- Pros: Heat pipe technolgy, light weight,
- Cons: I have the all copper 7700 model of Zalman cpu cooler on my Asus An8-Deluxe motheboard but decided to put the CNPS8000 on because of the weight and put the 7700 on my Intel 955xbk that I have in my Ahanix Dvine5 HTPC.But the CNPS8000 will not fit on the Asus MB because of the capatstors are in the way of the heat pipes and if I turn it they hit my RAM.
- Other Thoughts: The 7700 is much quiter the the 8000 because the 7700 have the 120mm fan where this only have a 90mm

noisy
- Pros: clear installation instructions
I finally dusted the inside of my PC with this occasion
- Cons: one has to get the motherboard out to install it
much noisier than expected
- Other Thoughts: quiet really means noisy
ultra-quiet really means quiet
FITS!
- Pros: Adjustable fan speed for noise reduction (can also be a negative if you accidentally turn it off)
Fits my Sugo SG05 case on a Zotac 9300 wifi mobo. Cools efficiently. NOT the absolute best. If you want that then water cooling is the way to go , but it is far better than stock and less hassle to install than H2O unit.
- Cons: None- just remember to make sure its always on.
- Other Thoughts: Running on a quad q6600 on a Zotac 9300 board. it just squeezes in if you face the heat pipes towards the I/O panel.
My G-SKILL PI Black Ram just barely clears it as well. Have owned and operated all components on this build for 8 months as of writing this review.
Nice looking but a waste of money
- Pros: Extremely well designed and built, the mounting system is the best I have seen on a multi-fit (AMD & Intel) cooler.
- Cons: Despite the overall size and heft, this thing cools no better than the stock "thin" cooler that came with my C2Q 9550. The Zalman Fan Mate 2 adjustable resistor works ok, but is dated in the day and age of PWM controlled fans. Only having one speed does not let you account for gaming vs. surfing the Internet without opening the case and adjusting the knob.
- Other Thoughts: I was hoping that this would quiet down my Mini ITX gaming system while still providing better than stock cooling. Unfortunately, using Prime95 to stress the system, it only lasted 10 minutes before the computer locked up. The stock thin cooler made it about 40 minutes and did so much quieter.
