4 out of 5 eggsMassive Cooler

Pros: pushes alot of air, keeps notoriously hot running 8 core AMD chips cool

Cons: wont fit in some cases, in my case it was 2mm to tall to properly close the case door.

Other Thoughts: not so much of a con but an inconvenience so I'll put that here: it has a poor design in the bracket to secure the cooler to the cpu making for a more difficult installation then it needs to be and possibly damaging to cpu when removing if caution is not taken to remove screws in a diagonal format from spring loaded pressure.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cools quietly and efficiently.

Cons: Can't change to a different 120mm fan.

Other Thoughts: There's newer stuff, but this thing is still good.

Pros: This cooler has lasted me since 2009 and has run fine on two AMD set ups since. It is dead silent, and pretty efficient. No problems.

Cons: REALIZE THERE IS BAD and MINIMAL CUSTOMER SUPPORT. The number on their website goes to their office in Korea. After a lengthy Korean recording I can't understand anyway, it hangs up on you. And emails suggest they don't understand English.

Other Thoughts: I didn't want to reduce eggs because it is a good cooler and Newegg hasn't let me down.
However, don't expect to find any Zalman support. Look online and you'll see this is not an uncommon issue.
In my case, I need a mounting bracket/clip for LGA 1155 for my new build, which didn't come with the cooler (in 2009), and their email reply was "Yes. 1156 and 1155 has the exact same dimension." My second email clearly stating I need a 1155/1156 bracket seems to have gone ignored. I'm tired of waiting for a late and probably unhelpful email and I'm not wasting money on international calls that disconnect you. I'm glad the cooler I bought has been a champ this whole time, but I'd rather drop some cash and just buy a new cooler from another manufacturer with better support for the long run.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is a beast

Pros: So far it's cooling great, I went from average temps of 38C down to 29C at Idle, using the lowest fan setting which rotates at ~1000rpm. You can not hear it! At higher speeds it's definitely audible but not crazy loud, this is a 120mm fan so you won't get that high pitched whine like a Stock Cooler.
The ability to mount the controller outside the case is very nice, you probably get about 12" of cable, so don't expect to mount this much beyond the case itself.
Install was fairly easy on a AMD Processor. I probably didn't need to take the fan off, but did anyway and that proved to be rather cumbersome to get back on once mounted.

Cons: This thing is HUGE, that may not be a con to some people.

I can see if you are using this on an Intel Chip, it would take more time to install.

I don't feel that the AMD clip is very tight, but it's holding fine for now.

Controller extension cable can easily be detached, it should have a securing clip of some sort.

Other Thoughts: Motherboard: ASRock 990FX Extreme3
CPU: Athlon II X4 640 (3.0ghz) not OCed
Memory: Corsair 2 x 4 GB XS3 1600
HD: WD Raptor
Video: PNY nVidia GTS250
PSU: Corsair 650TX Enthusiast

I had no fitment issues, with this setup, granted the Fan Power Plugs were a little hard to get to after mounting.

If my memory was any taller this would not work, the XS3 does not have a Heat Sink that sticks up so it worked fine, but I only have about 4mm of clearance on the A1 Memory Slot. I installed the Memory before mounting this thing, it would be difficult to change it out in the future however.

If your impatient you probably don't want this, it will require a ton of patients to install proper.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: Cools great.

Cons: 1) Large
2) The bracket was tricky to get on and it's un-coupled twice in the 3 years I've had it, but I guess in 3 years and only twice, that's decent right?

Other Thoughts: I didn't realize how big this thing was. Seeing the dimensions and seeing it in my case were two different things. My computer runs a little hot still...but it's due more to the space restrictions in my tower and airflow.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Reliable

Pros: Core i7 920 2.66GHz - OC Testing
Stock @ 3.2GHz: 80C
ZALMAN @ 3.2GHz: 38C

ZALMAN @ 3.9GHz: 53C

A huge decrease in temperatures. All temperatures tested using the lowest (blue) speed. Very quiet at the lowest speed, slightly audible at the highest (red).

Cons: Difficult to install. When first installed, i wasn't lined up flat with the bracket, and had to uninstall and fix. (Caught before boot).

A little large on height. While it didn't block any RAM slots, it did require I remove a side fan on my case door in order to close it.

Other Thoughts: Looking forward to using this again after upgrading to an Ivy Bridge processor.

1 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware - NOT COMPATIBLE with LGA 2011

Pros: I'm sure this is a greak CPU fan for the boards it actually works on. Looks amazing - really disappointed I won't be able to use it.

Cons: While the brackets and screws fit fine into my brand new X79 Sabertooth board, the tabs that hold the fan down ended up being about 1/8" too high. This allowed the fan to float around and tip off the CPU. Despite both newegg and the Zalman website assuring that this fan is compatible with LGA 2011, the box and the instructions don't mention it at all. Furthermore, the instructions available at the Zalman website tell you to use special Intel brackets that aren't even included in the package!

Other Thoughts: Are you supposed to order special brackets separately for LGA 2011? If so, PLEASE state so before I purchase.

I waited 3 weeks for my new 3930k, and now I'm going to have to wait again for this fan to RMA while my new one is shipped.

Hopefully the next company I buy from (which I can assure you WILL NOT be Zalman) won't lie about compatibilities to sell a couple extra fans to suckers like me.

2 out of 5 eggsBzzzt!

Pros: Big fan, big heatsink, very good mounting kit, good cooling.

Cons: I finally got to install this after going through a long process of picking parts. I got it installed, up and running. After the boot process settled down I reached over to turn the fan speed adjustment and POP! Yellow sparks shot out of the control unit and the CPU cooling fan went to top speed. Now my super large (NZXT phantom) super quiet case has a loud spot. I'm not happy I might have to fully disassemble this full build.

Other Thoughts: I tried to figure out on Zalman's site how to get this fixed, but alas, I can't find anything beyond ads for their product and manual downloads. I don't know if any of you other newegg fans know how to contact this company, or if Newegg can help. All I need is the little controller piece and I should be set.

4 out of 5 eggsYou Wont Regret It

Pros: Keeps my i5 processor nice and chill!!

Cons: This Thing Is HUGE!!!!

1) Unable to use all my RAM slots due to their heatsinks hitting the fan on the cooler

Other Thoughts: Make sure it will not interfere with anything. had to modify my side panel fan so it wouldn't keep hitting it.

Cosmos S Case
EVGA P55 Motherboard
EVGA GTX 465 Video Card
i5 650 Processor OCed to 4GHz
4GB G Skill Trident Memory
