5 out of 5 eggsGave Extended Life to a Classic Radeon 9800 Pro!

Pros: Unbelievably cheap for what you're getting! Gave "new life" to my classic but trusty ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB AGP. I use the card mostly in one of my extra gaming rigs, mostly for classic games like Opposing force, HL2, Warcraft 3, Halo CE, stuff like that. The less than sufficient TINY stock cooler fan started to slow down on me and was causing system freeze-ups and sudden system restarts.. I knew it was either pitch the card, or get a new cooler. I'm glad I chose the new cooler. It's running fine once again!

Cons: Quite large for what it's meant for, but I can see why they designed it that way.. to provide pretty much universal clearance of the heat pipes over any capacitors or vid ram heatsinks.

Other Thoughts: The only thing that could've made this design better is if mimicked the design of the old Arctic Coolers with the "shoot the hot air out the back of the case" design.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks on HD3650 as well!

Pros: Works with the Sapphire Radeon HD3650 AGP card.
keeps the card idling at 38C. amazing thermal contact.

Cons: needed slight tension modification to improve contact. place the rubber feeting that are supposed to go on the other side of the standoffs for the board on the screw side, and screw the springloaded screws on those. it'll tighten the tension just right.

Other Thoughts: Bought this originally for my X850XT, which it worked with. Put it immediately on the HD3650 AGP card as soon as I received it, new thermal paste and everything. Ceramique 2 works well in my own opinion but continue to use your favorite thermal compound in place of the liquid-bird-droppings-esque compound this product comes with.

Other than the sliiiiight modification to the spring screw tension, the heatsink does the job better than the stock heatsink in both situations. Be sure to use a pair of pliers to tighten the standoffs just in case, but don't tighten them too much.

and do yourself a favor: run it at full standard 12v. it's quiet enough it doesn't need a fan controller.

5 out of 5 eggsBest cooling solution for aging graphics cards!

Pros: Works wonderfully. Package was missing instructions but was easy to "wing it" for installation. screws on snug and doesn't move. Immaculate thermal contact. Fan cord was more than adequate in length to reach my board's fan connector. Fan is quiet and is barely audible unless you listen very carefully.

Cons: My product package was missing the instructions, which I otherwise just glance at to see how they "recommend" it be put on. I usually don't read the instructions for these unless I'm confused anyways to no eggs taken off.

wire wrap around the fan cord does not allow it to move very freely. keep this in mind.

Other Thoughts: This was purchased to replace the stock reference heatsink assembly on a Sapphire Radeon X850XT Platinum Edition 256M AGP card. it fits it without modification and works well to dissipate heat. Didn't bother with the Evercool thermal gunk included and used something else. The Evercool stuff gets bad reviews elswhere, so use your favorite thermal compound choice in its place.

I will be getting an HD3650 512M AGP card in the mail soon from a friend with a similar yet passive heatsink on it. I intend to switch this onto it and see if it fits when it arrives and use the passive heatsink instead on my current X850XTPE and assign it to backup duty.

For reference, my motherboard is an Epox EP-8RDA6+PRO, my case is an Antec SLK3600AMB. I was lucky that my two 120mm case fans used molex connections to acquire power to leave the fan connectors open for other things in planned future upgrades.

Overall I'd recommend this to anyone with an older or slightly newer card that needs one.

5 out of 5 eggs3850 OK!

Pros: fits perfect on my ATI 3850 to give it life again! card is too old to buy a more expensive cooling replacement for the loud stock fan that is failing and buzzing. makes this card perfect for my HTPC now.

Cons: not free?
doesnt come with complimentary i7?
ya, there's just nothing bad here!

Other Thoughts: As a PC repair tech this is a much needed item for many users that dont really need to upgrade their video solution but just need a replacement for their failing OEM solution.

4 out of 5 eggs8600gts

Pros: Cheap but feels solid.
Put on an old 8600gts which had a dead fan and keeps the card under 55c at load and 45c idle in a case with only one fan. Not too loud, but noticeable, at 100% rpm.

Cons: Takes up a little more than two slots with the card, interferes with the slot two spots away. The fan is mounted to the plastic, not the heatsink itself so you cant just take the shroud off, although you may be able to shave it down a little.

The 3 pin fan connector is too short to reach the top of an MATX mobo, buy an extension or a 4pin molex adapter if your only 3 pin header is at the top of your board.

Niether are much of a problem in my case so only -1 egg.

Other Thoughts: Haven't overclocked yet with it but gives a great amount of thermal headroom on the core for doing so. Does not come with memsinks but on most older cards you'd be hard pressed to overheat the memory.

Not suitable for high end gpu's

Be sure to use non-conductive thermal paste; The AS alumina 14g tube is pretty cheap and works effectively enough.

1 out of 5 eggsNot good for Nvidia 6800 AGP

Pros: It does seem to keep the gpu cooler than say no heat sink at all.

Cons: The stock cooler keeps my Nvidia 6800 AGP card at 53 degrees celsius at idle. The evercoool cooler keeps my card at 56 degrees celsius at idle and climbs very quickly under load. Which defeats the purpose, my video actually cut out while playing UT 2003 :(.

Other Thoughts: I RMAed this cooler and went with the Zalman VF950.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Fairly easy installation. Universal fit for a lot of different cards. Quiet fan. Reduced my idle temps on my ATI Radeon X800XL AGP to 41 C. Cheap fix to keep an older system going after stock VGA cooler failed.

Cons: Large! Takes up the space of 2 adjacent PCI slots in addition to AGP slot. I knew this going in by other's reviews, so not a surprise. Fan connector incapatible with proprietary connection on card and it was a stretch to reach a motherboard fan slot. No memory cooler, but if there was one, then the card would not be so universally applicable.

Other Thoughts: Fits my needs for a cheap price, but definitely not a solution for everyone.

4 out of 5 eggs"How Cool"

Pros: This item works well. It seems to cool down my 6800 GT AGP card nicely. Extending the card's life. The shipping of this product -- very fast. Bought this 2 days ago, already got it today ;) Newegg good job....

Cons: The very vague instructions on the package made it tough to understand. So i had to arrange the screw hole pattern to fit my card.

Other Thoughts: This VGA cooler seems to do the job well. Worth the money you spend on it. Saves me from buying a new VGA.

5 out of 5 eggsthis cooler actually owns

Pros: raised high enough off the card to miss caps and such fan pushes a lot of air dropped my eco friendly 9800gt which idle ran at almost 50c !!!!!!! thanks to bfg for making that junk stock heat sink btw but this cooler dropped it down to 29c idle and under load didn't peak more then 38c

Cons: the compatibility chart is very misleading this will fit almost any card they make now a days it just takes a little bit of messing with the peg layout on the back to get it to fit but it can fit like 4 diff styles of mounting layouts so if anyone is wondering it will work on a 9800gt gts 250 and a gtx275 not sure about ati cards for their newer layouts haven't used ati since my old 1950 pro lol

Other Thoughts: umm its like 15$ really u cant get a better cooler for this cheap my old zalman vf700 i think it was cost me like 35$ and did not even cool the card more plus i love how the heat sink covers the whole card put lil mem sinks under it and you are good to oc to your hearts content

4 out of 5 eggsStable setup

Pros: Would have given 4.5 stars. It is just a little complex knowing high to lineup all 4 pins. If you have a good mechanical understanding, this is a great product. You will struggle without some basic computer building knowledge. I fit this on an ATI X1800XL.

Cons: No memory heatsinks included. Would have been nice, but so far not a problem. The card is bulky with the fan, but it is relatively quiet, and I have the room in the case. You will need room for 2 slots for this product. There

Other Thoughts: The most fundamental thing to do is SAVE THE SPRING off the back of the video card. This is a must to get a good seating. Others have complained that it didn't fit "flush". After you mock fit the heatsink, and place the fittings in the correct place. You will notice that the heatsink is not flush. When you take that x-spring on the back of the card. It torsions the middle of the GPU towards the heatsink. This in essence provides a perfect fit.
