1 out of 5 eggsWorked great for a year and a half...

Pros: Probably brought the heat down on the hard drive (uncertain?) .. I use my SSD drive as the main "C" hard drive and the non-SSD hard drive this fan is attached to in order to store data on (data gets stored on the non SSD drive) so it gets a lot less use..

Cons: I guess you get what you pay for - sure it's cheap but the fan on this only lasted a year and a half, not sure if I got a bad one? (seeing other reviews stating their own lasted 3 or more years)..

Furthermore.. and I admit this is completely my fault but.. this indirectly contributed to.. one and a half centennials worth put it that way (not sure if newegg will let me post actual dollar figures in my reviews... $150 of damage let's see if that appears in the review) in damage for a replaced CPU and motherboard put it that way..

After a year and a half the fans started to produce a horrible shrieking sound.. I mean REALLY awful.. of course I had no idea it was coming from this enclosure.. so first I tried replacing the power supply... then I thought oh no, maybe the CPU fan is going and I should replace the CPU heatsink/fan... primarily my fault for THINKING I did the proper research on how to perform this operation, which I didn't, destroyed my CPU in the process and ended up replacing that plus my motherboard (wasn't sure if I destroyed motherboard socket as well) ... very, very costly mistake.

Other Thoughts: Please learn from my painful mistake! If you hear a horrible squealing noise coming from your PC try detaching the power supply for the fans for this enclosure and see if that makes the noise stop.. if so, then arguably you could simply leave the fans non-functional and keep this attached to your hard drive as a big heatsink.... I'm not ordering a replacement either, I'm afraid the replacement's fan will die after a year and a half too..

5 out of 5 eggsAdded in RV refrigerator

Pros: Light, low power draw, easily reworked to fit need.

Cons: Other than blue-none

Other Thoughts: Installed 4 years ago as interior refrigerator fans in camper.
They create constant air flow thru condenser fins, helps with cooling, helps minimize frost build up, helps in uniform air temp thru-out inside of refer. Same as sold for for my use (RV refer fans) at half cost.

Obviously not installed as hard drive cooler fans so run time less but 4-6 hours daily, 4years still working, no issues.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems worth it

Pros: Well, it keeps the disk cooler, and it is cheap.

Cons: It doesn't fit! You have to bend it a little - gently - with your hands to get it to fit on the bottom of a 3.5" disk.

2 out of 5 eggsToo loud

Pros: keeps hard drive running cooler

Cons: very loud and obnoxious. you would be better off mounting an intake fan near it to keep it cool and it isn't as big of a deal like a cpu or gpu cooler. would not recommend

3 out of 5 eggsTakes up too much space..

Pros: -Keeps HDD cooler
-Looks clean
-Fits on my 1TB WD Blue & 1TB Seagate Barracuda
-Silent
-Easy to install

Cons: -Takes up two HDD spaces
-Molex cable is pretty short

Other Thoughts: Buy it if you have some extra HDD space that you aren't using. Otherwise it won't fit.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: None

Cons: The screw holes do not line up with the holes on the bottom of any hard drive I've tried. You have to squeeze on both sides of the cooler to get the screws in. Basically, I was unable to do this without getting someone to assist me. One person had to squeeze on both sides of the cooler, while the other had to put the screws in.

Once you finally get it attached to the bottom of a hard drive, it's thick enough that it makes it difficult to install in most cases.

And the worst part is that I purchased 3 of these and after 2 weeks of use, the bearings started to go bad in all of them and the fans were making a very high pitched squeel.

Other Thoughts: I have always been very pleased with MASSCOOL case fans, but I seriously doubt I'll be buying any hard drive coolers made by them again.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good cooling power. Keeps my harddrive cool -- when it works.

Cons: I've had this for more than a year now, and it's done nothing except spin when it wants to. Other times it will make weird noises in the fan itself. It's very cheaply made. Not a good investment for the long run

1 out of 5 eggsNot great

Pros: Cheap, quiet (when not broken)

Cons: Broke after a week

Other Thoughts: Ran well for the first week, then sudden rattling when one of the fans failed. Didn't fit a 2.5" SATA drive.

2 out of 5 eggsit's a heat sink

Pros: great idea

metal helps transfer heat vs other plastic models

2 fans

Cons: both fans seized up after a month

Other Thoughts: still works as a cheap heat sink though?

5 out of 5 eggsCooling

Pros: Dropped my HDD temp down 23 degrees F
Easy install
Quiet
Worked great for about a year and a half then finally gave out,
but for $7 worth the buy if you don't have a case with good ventilation

Cons: Took up two HDD slots in my case
