Silent or Loud
- Pros: Silent, fairly cheap for what you get. Comes with lots of connection adapters. It actually pushes more air then I was expecting. Have 2 fans on the case and 1 on the processor cooling fins.
- Cons: When you run the fans at 100% or 12volts they are almost impossible to hear. However if you tweek down the voltage to run at slower speed through BIOS or even with a fan controller, the blades do slow down but you are left with an annoying little tick. I can even hear this tick when the case is sealed up and under my desk. So I just run all three fans at 100% and I can't hear them. This happens on all three fans that I ordered.
- Other Thoughts: Do not use these fans with an automatic fan controller. ONLY run these fans at 100% or 12volts all the time or nothing at all. Would definately be 5 eggs if it wasn't for this tick. They push just as much air as cheaper fans but get these ones for the lack of blade noise.
This is the S-Flex version you want for quiet!!
- Pros: Near Silent with just a hint of "whoosh" coming from the air flow. No buzz or vibration from the bearing at all.
Included 3pin to Molex converter.
Solid build quality.
- Cons: Cables aren't covered, which isn't a big deal, but these things are $15 a pop. So be prepared to do some twisting.
$$ for a fan
- Other Thoughts: I just got my new Cooler Master ATCS 840, and bought some S-Flex fans. I got both the E and F version. The F is way too loud with a definite hum/buzz noise. The Es were great with only that slight "whoosh" of air. No noise whatsoever from the fan. Air Flow was still good with the Es, so unless you are going for monster OCs in a cramped case, I'd go with the E Version.

My favorite fans
- Pros: Very quiet, they LAST (unlike some other expensive "exotic" fans I've tried), moves a nice amount of air, you can get different speeds to match your needs.
- Cons: Doesn't come with silicon mounts.
S-FLEX
- Pros: - Very Quiet ... but then again I can't really hear anything over my GFX card (8800GT)
- Decent airflow
- Cons: None yet
- Other Thoughts: I bought 3 of these at the time. All of them work perfectly. If they hold up well I'll definitely buy these again.
Great Fans
- Pros: *Very Quite
*Move a great amount of air *Very Quite
- Cons: *Cost, but hey you only buy fans once so not a huge deal to pay more for somthing better and thats quite
- Other Thoughts: I didnt get these from newegg, got them actually cheaper at a local store (had a gift card from xmas), but they are very quite and I would check the rpm when you get them going. One of mine is the 1200 stated and the other is running at 975, not a huge concern for me but other it might be. Overall great quite fans and i would buy them again

Equipped with Genuine S-FDB* Bearing This fan is equipped with genuine S-FDB (SONY Fluid Dynamic Bearing) made by SONY corporation.
Market Leading Low-Noise Level S-FDB technology drastically eliminates the friction between the bearing and the shaft which makes this fan nearly inaudible to human ears. Additional suction magnet optimizes the magnetic force balance within the rotor to achieve the absolute silence. To further achieve the absolute silence, the fan is equipped with the Linear drive IC for reducing electromagnetic noise.
Outstanding Long Life of 15000 Hours Patent Pending "S-FDB" structure allows the fan to last up to 150000 hours.
Anti-Shock Ability Conventional ball bearing carries a point contacting structure for the rotation, which gives point supporting situations at dropping impact to damage ball bearing surface which could cause irregular noises. The S-FDB carries a surface contact mechanism for improved anti-shock structure, which is 5 times stronger than the conventional ball bearing. |
