Keep your desktop running cool and quiet with the Scythe SCNJ-1100P Ninja Plus heatsink and fan assembly. For completely silent cooling, the Ninja Plus' powerful heat dissipation is possible thanks to six copper pipes to quickly take heat far away from the processor and disperse it through a series of aluminum fins.
Need even more cooling power? The included optional 120mm fan clips to the side of the cooler and pushes air through the fins, forcing heated air out and away from your processor and the rest of your system’s components. The sleeve-bearing fan is designed for quiet performance, too, spinning at 1,200rpm and creating only 20.94dBA of noise.
The Ninja Plus comes with specially designed brackets and clips to allow you to easily attach it to almost any modern motherboard. Plus, with no back plate necessary, you don't need to take your motherboard out of your case in order to install your new cooler. It works with both Intel and AMD processors including the latest Core 2 Duo and Athlon 64 X2 dual-core models.

Worth reviewing
- Pros: Since buying the Zalman C***95*0, I've never been satisfied
with it's ability to control the temps in my FX-60 (939). And if you get lazy with the cleaning of the fins, you're facing 63degC temps at 100%(x2) load in a 70degF room. In contrast, the Scythe has dropped my temps by 11degC at the same load. To be fair, it's 11degC compared to a somewhat-dirty Zalman. But, at least 7degC under ideal circumstances. And the Scythe offers the option to add a higher-CFM fan. (the stock unit is very quiet, but seems low-CFM)
- Cons: The hateful clamping mechanism.
In the past, I've used multiple types of clamping HSFs and bolt-ons, but this was the only time that I stopped, took a look at the box after a ten-minute struggle, and seriously questioned seeking an RMA due to the force required. I imagine that it was putting all of that pressure on it's own bottom plate instead of the CPU, because it didn't seem to leave tell-tale smears in the heatsink compound. Dunno, but I dread the day of it's removal.
- Other Thoughts: You'll love the cooling capacity and welcome the chance to
increase it with a different fan, but as you're sweating over the battle for installation, you may curse my recommendation.
AMD FX-60 (socket 939) Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe Arctic Silver 5 Lian-Li V1200 Plus No overclocking (but with Hi-CFM fan, 2.8Ghz here I come?)
Warped Contact Plate
- Pros: Neweggs customer service has been great! This is the 3rd Scythe heatsink I've bought from Newegg. All 3 had warped Contact Plates. After reading all the good reviews, I guess I've been unlucky. Note that the factory calls a high CPU load an extraordinary condition that voids the warranty. I won't buy another Scythe.
- Cons: Previously gave it 5 stars, but a few days later, it failed. Inspection showed that the plate was warped, preventing good thermal contact with the CPU, even with Ceramique. Factory said to send it back to Newegg. By the time the factory responded (after mailing them links to a website with photos), I couldn't get a refund. Sanding it flat, or inserting copper shims may have fixed it, but with reduced effectiveness. There are disclaimers on the box: "For higher CPU frequency, this product may not perform. ..."; and "Under the fanless environment, this product is designed for the usage such as e-mailing, internet browsing... Please note that this product is NOT designed for dataencoding... benchmark software... other extraordinary conditions under fanless environment."
"...will not grant warranty for accidents or damage caused by ... high CPU loading."; "Specifications are subject to change without notice." etc., basically the manufacturer can suspend warranty for any reason.
- Other Thoughts: For those complaining about the 775 causing the heatsink not to mount tightly to the CPU, also check to see if the heatsink has a warped contact plate. Either way is a problem, together its a major problem. You can place the heatsink on a perfectly flat stock near a bright light. If there is a crack big enough for light to shine through, turn it 90 degrees and try again. You can also spread a thin layer of grease on the heatsink and press it to the flat plate to see its impression. Its pretty easy to tell if its warped.

Big cooler
- Pros: It does a decent job of keeping my CPU cool. Included fan is nice.
- Cons: Much bigger than I expected, and the mounting hardware doesn't feel secure
- Other Thoughts: If I had to do it over again I would probably get a Thermalright over this.
works great
- Pros: Bought in '06 to replace the stock Intel aluminum unit. Lots of copper, large, many fins, Cools real well! Used with 120mm fans makes it so much quieter than smaller heat sinks with fast 80mm fans. More than 2 years and cooling nicely and quieter.
- Cons: Large could be a con to some people.
- Other Thoughts: You better take careful measurements to make sure this thing will fit!!
It's large, and effective.
- Pros: Keeps the computer cool, with the Antec 900 Case little to no hot air Lingers in the case, it's all out the back and the top.
Perfect fit in the Antec 900 case.
- Cons: You gotta remove the motherboard to install the heatsink.
It's super close to the memory modules and the motherboard chipset heatsink
- Other Thoughts: I have an XFX Nforce 680i Motherboard installed in an Antec 900 Case. I had to remove the entire motherboard in order to get this baby installed, not a big issue doing so if your cool with the plastic snap clip system. It sits incredibly close to my chip heat-sink, so the only reasonable direction to point the fan for this cpu cooler is straight out the back of the case, which works fantastic.
