3 out of 5 eggsGood but Problematic

Pros: Good cooler and quiet. It lasted almost 3 years.

Cons: I had the same problem as many others, the little rubber anchors that hold the fan to the sink broke.

Other Thoughts: very quiet until the anchors broke and I had to use duct tape to fix them (temporarily), I probably would not buy a new one.

5 out of 5 eggsG.I. Joe Style Set Piece

Pros: This thing is wicked. I'm new to the necessity of higher quality cooling needs so when I opened the box on this bad boy, I thought I had ordered some kind of evil lair for GI Joe figurines. Its huge. I love that the fan is all protected and that it has rubber mounts to keep it quite. Great all around fan.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Buy it.

2 out of 5 eggsgrommet's a fatal flaw

Pros: pretty quiet and inexpensive, keeps cpu pretty cool.

Cons: the rubber grommets that hold the fan to the heatsink fall apart, leaving the fan to flop over / fall off in the case. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if you could replace them, but the manufacturer won't send them to you. A couple of 2 cent parts is all you need, but you can't get them!

Other Thoughts: Cheap, but I would expect it to last a little longer than 2 years.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdated review

Pros: Relatively quiet, cooled well before it fell apart, cheap

Cons: Made the mistake of giving this a five-egg rating soon after purchase. After my experience with this fan, I will never buy another cooler with rubber-isolator fan mounting. 3 of the 4 flimsy rubber mounts on this HSF rotted out and the fan eventually flopped over, leaving the heatsink to do all the work which resulted in CPU temps of 65C or more. I was able to ghetto-rig it with some carefully-placed duct tape but I will be replacing this HSF with another ASAP.

Other Thoughts: Unless you upgrade your PC's internals frequently (every year or two), stay away from this cooler. Mine's only two years old and has effectively rendered itself useless. Some would argue that you shouldn't expect much in this price range, but I've used HSFs this cheap in the past for over two years and never had them endanger my processor like this. Do yourself a favor, either spend a few more bucks or get an equally-cheap HSF with the fan securely bolted to the heatsink.

5 out of 5 eggs3 y/o Fan Still Tops!

Pros: Cheap! Works better and much quieter than stock fan! The fan is rubber mounted and moves plenty of air. I bought 2 of these a few years ago and I've had them on 939, AM2, and AM2+ chips. Currently on a 9600 Agena BE and 5000+BE. I mean, how often do you re-use a component that long?

Cons: The mounting tabs. After first install, you'll get the hang of it. Just make sure you have equal tension on each side.

Take off the included thermal paste and use Arctic Silver.

Other Thoughts: Once the x3 720 lowers in price, I plan on buying that chip with the AC ALPINE Pro and try that fan out. The rest of my case fans are Rosewill, also bought from newegg. Those are also top-shelf/price, and the 120mm with speed control are great for the living room PC.
