"The best choice in value" is Rosewill’s corporate mantra. Rosewill produces quality CPU coolers with best-in-class performance while staying affordable. Designed specifically for Intel Socket LGA 775 processors, the RCX-Z90-AL combines multiple features into a package that performs as well as more expensive units but at a fraction of the price.
The aluminum fins optimize heat dissipation and the 92mm, 3000±10%RPM sleeve bearing fan delivers an air flow of up to 66±10% CFM for decent cooling performance with low noise. And the innovative heatsink design enables omni-directional airflow for efficient cooling of the CPU and Motherboard VR components. So sit back and enjoy surfing on the virtual world.
Pros: Fit my Core2Duo on my mATX mobo fine. (abit I-N73H). Much quieter than I expected - realtively silent. Cools very well. Provides more air flow than Intel stock fan.
Cons: Its not plated with gold nor does it make the birds sing when its raining outside. bummer.

Better then the Stock Cooler
Reviewed By: broiled on 9/29/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Cheap, easy to install, works better then the stock Intel Cooler. This is one of the very few coolers, with the pushpin design, that the pushpins actually work like they're supposed to.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: I used it to replace the stock Intel CPU cooler on a Pentium E2180 Dual-core. While both this one and the stock cooler are aluminum and not cooper, this one out performs the Intel cooler. It's quieter and does a better job of keeping the E2180 cool under load.

"Factory overclocked" stock-Intel replacement, which can be quiet if BIOS set correctly.
Reviewed By: mkchiu on 2/5/2010
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: * Quiet if BIOS supports PWM, BIOS is set correctly, or SpeedFan is set correctly. * Good for a lower TDP CPU not pushed frequently towards 100% usage. * Audible "warning" from "vacuum-cleaning" fan if CPU is too hot.
Cons: * My RPMs were higher than spec, min RPM: +20to50% (than spec 600+/-10%), max RPM: +10to33% (than spec 3000+/-10%). * Fan noise ratings are typically for 1m away, but this one is either for further distances (because the manufacturer spec is so low), or the manufacturer tolerances for fan speed are too low. * Too loud for everyday use if mainboard PWM doesn't work. * Fragile plastic fasteners like stock Intel and many other HSFs may require flat-head screw-driver to tighten correctly.
Other Thoughts: The fan defaults to max RPM and max noise if the BIOS doesn't support PWM or isn't set correctly. To test a mainboard for PWM support, change the BIOS settings and then confirm the fan RPM can be changed using SpeedFan.
On two mainboards (different vendors & chipsets) my RCX-Z80-AL could slow to about 800 RPM. I'd guess it was about 20-25 dBA if my Scythe fans are accurate. At a max speed of about 3600 RPM, this RCX-Z90 is quieter than my vacuum cleaner. It's probably less than 60 dBA. I can still hear it from 10m away with line-of-sight, or 3m and behind a door.

Cheap and not worth it
Reviewed By: frustrated on 2/2/2010
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Its cheap
Cons: I spent over an hour trying to install this. Took me 2 minutes to remove the old one. The plastic tooless connectors are useless. They never lined up. Got one in, the others would not. I would RMA it, but its not worth the time or cost to ship it back. The thermal paste on the bottom is now all messed up anyway. Lesson learned.
Other Thoughts: I ended up ordering a new one from the manufacturer instead of messing with this one anymore.
Don't waste your time with this. It just not worth it. Buy one that has the metal screws and save yourself a lot of frustration.

Rosewill RCX-Z90-AL
Reviewed By: careface^ on 1/23/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Works efficiently, keep my CPU very cool. Compared to my previous heatsink/fan that came with the CPU, it is about 5-10 degrees cooler at all times.
Cons: The only con is that it is EXTREMELY loud. This thing's noise beats the 4 fans running on full speed on my case.
Other Thoughts: Overall, does a great job at keeping your CPU cool. Which is really all that matters for me.
